The Last of Us Part II Remastered Chronological Experience Update Announced

They will never let this franchise fucking go.
Theres been 2 games and a DLC. Calm down. This is literally a free patch.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the remasters. And they are made by new studio hires/interns, they dont have seasoned vets working on them.

Next stop - TLOU in reverse order😅
they certainly could add a zombie mode to the Uncharteds too. make it all the Druckman extended universe.

seriously though; adding anything is fine. Either some people not doing much otherwise, not needed for the other projects now, or new hires that were allowed to tinker around a bit, testing their skills.
Anyway, the naugthy dog is not doing much this gen it seems. While Cell was so hard to develop for...

IDK why people are whining. Its a bloody free update. Is free for Sony to also make those updates.
I know people want more games, but c'mon, stop being greedy. Those things take time and money.

Creatively bankrupt studio puts out another waste of resources to keep milking its completely worthless IP now.

It's insane how far off this studio has fallen.

Intergalactic will be a rude awakening for Sony and naughty dog when this flops hard as fuck.

Neil will blame players, but the sad truth is you destroyed Naughty Dog worse than Phil did Xbox.

Whenever Last of us is being mentioned in any capacity, GAF goes completely mental. It's always fun to watch, if a little puzzling.

Will Sony do everything they can to not make a new Last of Us? Is their thought, how much can they milk out of the two games? Kind of makes me worried for the future.

I also thought of Memento when I saw this thread.

It didn't ruin the movie for me and I think the different perspective on the story was interesting. Can see how people dont like it though since it removes all intrigue and mystery. I have my doubts that it'll matter much for the game.
Probably wouldn't affect the game much if they still require you to play it once in the original format. At that point it's just an alternate perspective as the motivations have all been conveyed the first time around. For a first time player, it softens the blow quite significantly, imo.

Seems like a wasted opportunity to offer a separate chronological re-edition of the game.

But to be serious, it's just dumb. I remember trying to finish Beyond Two Souls that way and I could feel that it wasn't the intended way of experiencing it... and I don't think I'd change my mind even after multiple playthroughs, already knowing the story.

Using this as an excuse to repost some bangers

TLOU1 could have been a classic then 2 came out and because 1 is so story focused the story from 2 now infects 1 so they are both shit.

1 had such a perfect chud anti social contract ending that I knew there would be no choice but to fuck it up in a woke sequel and they still surprised me with how fully ruined the franchise could become from just 1 game. They immediately kill off everyone's favorite character, put a modern audience female character as his killer and then try their best to make us hate our other favorite character while forcing us to play as the modern audience character who killed our favorite dude. They would have still failed but then they make Ellie forgive the modern audience character at the end and let her go, and the shittiness was complete.

No amount of playing as some piece of shit murderer will ever make me not hate her. No amount of good deeds can undo you murdering my friend. Bleeding heart bullshit in game form. What kind of disloyal man would this actually affect? There is no "cycle of revenge" in this game, the modern audience character got her revenge, Ellie did not, and so there was no circle of vengeance. It would be a much better game if there WAS a circle of vengeance but the bleeding heart denied us that justice.

What a shitshow. When they adapt this shit story to a TV show it also is great for season 1 and then fails in season 2 for the same dumbass narrative reason. Everybody hates it. The new director hates it. The actors hated it. The audiences hated it. Druckman drops the project. Funny how that works when just the story is on display it takes a shit.

Maybe ND should move on first.
They are making a new IP. They are moving on to something different.

Ghost of Yotei is coming out this year and that's not a new IP so intergalactic coming out late 2026 or 2027 isn't exactly much slower than sucker punch considering it obviously takes longer to create a new IP than a second entry in a series.

I get it we all want new games as well but for the quality they deliver the wait is worth it.

But people shouldn't go complaining when Part 3 eventually comes because there are millions of people who want that too.

Oh no, not a free update!
Imagine. These 50 or whatever people doing this update for weeks.... and you need 1 dude to push 60fps update for bloodborne and the last guardian... in 1 launch break.
It's all about not supporting stuff people want over the fucking tlou2 which everyone now hates.
Even I no longer like tlou2 and I loved that game

Free patch, whatever. This line is still great self-parody and reads like a GAF shitpost:

we've introduced a new way to play the story of The Last of Us Part II like never before – chronologically.

Love the dramatic dash! I can just see Druckmann doing jazz hands during a presentation to Sony during that dash break.

Better than firing people, then hiring new people once they have a bigger project 1 year later.

If they can afford it, good to them. So they dont loose talent / have to teach about their tech to new people.

That's a nice sentiment to have but it's not the ruthless tight ship that gave us U1-4. And bloat in this current state of the gaming industry is big red flag.

Creative bankrupt my ass.
And that last paragraph, you are more delusional than Phil it seems.

TLoU as a franchise is and will remain an one of the best the industry has to offer, from every point of view.
You can hate on that as much as you want, just try not to choke.

On topic, i didn't need convincing to play this one again.

Might help the pacing. I put TLOU2 down by the second Abby level. Hell before I even got to Abby combat (which takes waaaaay too long). Once you do all the ups and downs with Elly, the whiplash of starting over just took me out of it. I'll go back and finish up eventually. For now I had to uninstall it to free up space for Steam sale loot.

We had two Uncharted games by now last gen
We had the Uncharted Trilogy & the Last of Us in the PS3 era from the same Dev.....well same Dev in name.
Highly doubt the same people are there outside of Druckmann.

It's clear that this thread is being used as a way to vent towards ND.

🤷‍♂️

Maybe Sony should stop mentioned Last of Us so GAF can stop mentioned Last of Us because is always GAF problem, right?

And I must say I just love when people create an account on GAF, post on GAF, quote on GAF, reply on GAF, get gold membership on GAF, get free games on GAF, use the report button on GAF to in end saying things like 'GAF goes completely mental'.

I mean, are you part of GAF or not?

The problem is that while it might provide a slightly better buildup, it wouldn't really change much because the big moment will still happen near the first fourth of the game.
chronologically I don't think this story is gonna work. Or will it. I think they're making me feel like finding out.

I don't know what the big deal is. If Capcom went back and did a free update on some of the RE remakes I wouldn't be crying about it.
