It's the same engine with upgraded visuals, so it was to be expected. It's just much more moody and I really like the rain/wet rocks.
 
This is coming to X360 too? I thought it was only for current gen consoles; GC, PS2 and Xbox?

Any idea when THIS version is supposed to hit? I'm very interested in the game, but I'd like to wait for this one. Maybe they'll deliver 60 fps as well...
 
I'm not trying to knock it, and it does look slightly better. Just not enough for me to really notice unless you do a side by side, and even then it's arguable. I'm sure it'll look amazing for all systems though. I really like the look of this game. :)

Did you played the demo of SC:CT?

As with many Dreamcast ports, there isn't going to be a huge difference...but if you own a 360, there is no reason not to go with this one (higher resolution, slightly better overall visuals, and likely a better framerate).

It's clearly not a next-gen looking game, but the art direction is great.

oh yeah. GBA, DS and PSP were givens. i just didn't mention them because they'll be completely different version from the "main game" as we'll see on PS2, GC, Xbox/360 and PC (all of which will essentially be the same thing right?).

Oh and mobiles too? heh

on a slightly different tangent, when is the movie due for release?

I say it looks quite a bit better than the current gen version. Of course it's obviously not a full next gen title and it shows, but it's still a *far* better port effort than activision's for example.

It really looks like the environment is more detailed for the 360 version. Grass, trees and leaves, rocks all look a bit better for the next-generation version (the rain not so much...). And to be fair, this is a port of a current generation game for all intents and purposes.

Looks very nice unfortunately any game that is ported to the PC, I default on that version since I like using the keyboard and mouse rather than a gamepad.

Seeing this game running in high rez alone will make the game look much better than current platforms. Then add in the updated graphic affects, shaders - higher poly counts etc., and you have a much better looking game. Ill be getting the 360 version for sure.
 
I am *REALLY* impressed, even more so that it's a movie based game. Surprised it looks so good...

i'm guessing X360 and PC (at max settings maybe?) versions will be pretty much exactly the same.

This would have to be one of the best looking games based on a movie property to date. Got to give credit to Ubisoft for making it look so great across several platforms.

AFAIK, but I certainly can be wrong, the PC version is based on the PS2/Xbox/GC one.

That's bizarre in the case of games that aren't designed with a keyboard/mouse in mind.

If a game makes extensive use of a gamepad, the PC version likely isn't going to play well. Remember the MGS2 port? THAT was an absolute mess as the controls were essentially ruined on the PC...
 
As you can see with the wet rocks etc. it will look much, much better and realistic in motion I'm guessing. Like the specular highlights you see in Chaos Theory etc. come out best when you're playing. Plus it does look like all kinds of normal mapping techniques on the surfaces, but obviously we can only guess at that since it's 2D pic. Once more something that will really improve realism when you move around.

I'm really looking forward, hopefully they will also have superior animation and collisions, plus lighting shadows, etc. Can't wait! :)

Second, always liked the look of this game. Movies also look great., might buy it at 360 launch.

Agreed. I remember reading the devs wanting the 360 version to get as close to the movie as possible in terms of visuals. If they can nail the animation down with those kinds of graphics, we are in for a treat. :)
 
Damn, I am not usually a fan of movie liscence game (well maybe a star wars game here and there) :P

but this just looks nice. Current gen/next gen whatever, the art direction is phenomenal. :)

Didn't they say somewhere the art director for the film is working with the game producers?
