Looking at the costume, you can see what looks to be a raised portion on the upper calf of his right leg, and a raised area on his left side next to the belt area. My guess is that the briefs are not there, and instead they've gone for some type of red striping in that area to break up the blue and provide the red for the trunks. Gimme a sec...

EDIT: Right here:

I'm betting that the red briefs are gone, replaced with red side-panels on the pants instead.
I'm a briefs man, but having a bit of red there with the gold belt is infinitely preferable to the "make the belt red, add redundant S- symbol" approach Jim Lee took with the DCNu version.

I love Arronofsky, but Snyder is more suited to directing a Superman film imo.

Aronofsky would've made a more interesting film for sure though. Everyone and their mother knows how this movie is gonna look. I can't even imagine to process what aa DA Superman movie would be like.

I so would've loved Darren on this, alongside Nolan he's my favorite young/current director.

You're goofy.

lawl, looks like some people aren't liking the 'glaring underneath brow' Kubrickian shot they've got going there. Just speaks to how evocative such a simple shot can be.

No goddamn S-curl in his hair? Total bomba confirmed!

But seriously, I'm loving the look of the costume. Supes actually looks intimidating and the suit looks almost perfect. Don't know why the colors are so muted; Bright blue and red is the way to go for a Superman movie. Not digging the raised texture of the S symbol either; it should just be part of the suit, but whatever. +2 Hype.

No words. Lex Luthor is the fucking SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! But yeah... his baldness is definitely the defining quality of the character.
Superman is pretty much just a bully to Lex, if I started punching Steven Hawking in the face no one would take "But his so fucking smart" as an excuse.

LOL at anyone wanting the underpants. Fuck that shit. Looks ridiculous, if anything Snyder has a good eye for visuals, at least. If I had my way I would have made more drastic changes to the costume.

Those red lines going down his sides are interesting, reminds me of the new Spider-man suit.

If they take away the underwear, the shit storm is going to be massive in SupermanHomepage.

Its pretty damn close to how you picture the suit when you think Superman IMO... Even without the undies.

Good job by the costume people.

Agreed. As I posted way earlier, I wouldn't mind if they pack in some revisions to the costume design, but have the general look stay the same. However, the texture I am still not feeling, specially for the emblem..

I like it, at least they didn't change the colors which I was kind of expecting. Although it looks like they changed the underwear but I'm not opposed to that.

You're all wrong.

Superman Returns was good.

This will be great.

I liked Returns so I agree there (although it had many of it's own problems, the good outweighed the bad for me) but I really don't have any high hopes for this. Trust me I'm a huge Superman fan and I'll see this day one but I'm very pessimistic about it. I do not like Snyder or Goyer. Snyder's movies are beautifully shot but Returns was also so that doesn't matter. Someone else said it best in another thread where Snyder somehow has the ability to put up interesting, unique, cool images on screen, but at the same time makes it extremely shallow and boring to watch (partly because of his stupid bullshit slow mo which needs to die in a fire. James Cameron should have an exclusive license for slow mo because he's the only guy who seems to know how to use it right in an action movie).

Snyder's best film imo is Dawn of the Dead and that's the one with the least CGI. I liked Watchmen but it lacked heart, soul, some of the actors direction was completely off from how it should've been. Some of the music choices were dreadful, etc. He's so hit or miss there's no way he's going to make a great Superman movie. I can only hope the producers keep him on a short leash and give him as little creative freedom as possible. The only thing I know about Snyder is he'll probably put up more action than in Returns, but with his slow mo shit that's not necessarily a good thing since we won't be on the edge of our seats.

Goyer I'm not even going to give the benefit of the doubt at all. Every thing good 'he's' done has been in collaboration with the Nolan Brothers. I suspect Goyer made a general synopsis of the Batman comics, then gave it to the Nolan brothers and they did the rest of the work with the actual dialogue, characters etc. There's no way Goyer can write a great Superman script. And they keep re-hiring new writers to change things. I just sense a complete mess. Returns screenplay sucked but Returns deserved a sequel to fix things. The recent news of Green Lantern getting a sequel has made me even more angry that Returns didn't because it makes no sense. Singer could've really made something special with a sequel and instead they green light Snyder of all people. I'll eat my shoe if he comes anywhere near the airplane sequence in Returns.

When you troll a thread the idea is to be funny and smart. You are neither.

Are we supposed to believe that Ma Kent sew that? Or Superman made it? Or is it alien in nature? Looks like a Fox special.

Haircut reminds me of Attitude Era Vince McMahon. I'm still so looking forward to this though, and I even loved Superman Returns.

Honestly, it looks like a weird photograph, but in other shots, the guy looks like Superman to me.

I really liked Routh, but I'm OK with this direction as well.

Can't wait to see the film.

You really know nothing about this topic, do you?

Typical comicbook nerd meltdown shit in your post.

Actually you've shown utter ignorance on the whole topic. Nothing meltdown in either of our posts.

I'm pretty sure the suit it supposed to be kryptonian.

Every major comic book character is redundant over the span of decades they've been around or whatever. It just happens that you don't like Superman's character/history/abilities etc. It's silly to say Superman sucks because he's 'redundant' though. You had a better argument highlighting his pro American shit which I do think needs to be done away with. (It kind of has already anyway, recent comics have changed him he's not really an American propaganda machine anymore and this film will likely have him dealing with world issues as well).

2003 Hulk is better than anything in Snyder's filmography.

Hell yes. I for one loved that film and would probably put it in my top 5 comic book/super hero adaptations.

Also, the pic reminds me of Tom Jane's Punisher.

That looks terribad. The cape is bordering on pink and the suit is electric blue. You people are gonna have to get used to Snyder's desaturated, color filtered shenanigans.

Filming started last week. It was scheduled for end of December 2012 but was pushed back another 6 months.

It is filming and it was supposed to be next November/December but it has since been delayed to June 2013.

It just started shooting, and I think filming goes into next April.

Seriously, these photos of Routh are doing him no favors. He looks like a goofy kid compared to Henry.
Yep. I like the more hardened look of Superman. Now only time will tell if it's loaded down with the usual meh Superman stuff.
