what is she notable for again?

garth is dope, gets tossed to the bushes too aften. and that costume is terrible

he has some control over land life if he tries hard enough. at least enough to make people seize

Garth was dope even though he stole Tempest from a more cooler dude.

Yeah, that looks awesome. Is it bad if I hope he loses an arm and he replaces it with a hook?

making aquaman a polynesian guy is probably the first time this character has made any sense

I'm guessing his father is polynesian and his mom is still white. I say this because it's heavily rumored that Karl Urban is in the running for Orm.

Or alternatively I'd just make Aquaman the best hero in the DC line up. One thing, I wouldn't make an empathetic link to marine life his main ability because sorry to say it's cheesy. I wouldn't remove it but I wouldn't be dedicating panels to it. What I would do is make his main ability his ability to manipulate water and other liquids. With the backstory that his royal blood makes his water manipulating orders more powerful and nuanced than Mera. I'd have it be that while Mera can manipulate water to varying degrees, Arthur can manipulate almost any liquid. He can harden it to the tensile strength of steel, compress it on a quantum scale (stole this from Invisible Woman) making it sharper than any known metal, he can create water from the very molecules in the air we breath. And under the right circumstances and duress he can manipulate the liquids within solid objects. Similar to Bobby Drake he can even move around by manipulating the aforementioned air molecules. This is on top of his super strength and durability for obvious reasons.

Naturally he can command the sea as well. Those skills aside, because he's a nice person he holds back ala Superman (and Mera is like Supergirl in which zero fucks are given usually). But unlike Superman, AM will drop you if he feels he's been too nice to you. No need for random hand attachments and shit.

He now has a primary power that has multiple uses offensively, defensively and on support. And he's no longer a fish out of water when fighting on land with no ocean near by.

Sounds similar to aquawoman in earth 2. I think she moved fluid in a fury's brain to kill her.

It wouldn't be the worst thing that has happened to Arthur.

All that talk about "Aquaman won't catch in the general audiences because jokes" evaporated in 24 hours. The whole world is living it suprprisingly (according to twitter and dedicated sites, which is a decent sample size I think). Makes you think how self importance diehard fans think they have, that's why we're not in charge of the bussiness guys.

Yeah, I think this overpowers him unnecessarily.

As long as the writers remember that his trident is magic, we should be good.

He's been cut up several times by more conventional weaponry. His face got knicked by a bullet from a lowly revolver and he drew blood.

Yea that shouldn't happen. Wonder Woman? Sure. Aquaman? He shouldn't have even noticed someone shot him. I mean really he should be as resillent as Superman easily.

Again, I don't think people quite grasp just how dense AM's skin should be due to his ability to survive/swim/move comfortable in the water pressure at the bottom of the mariana trench. Like people see the words "bottom of the mariana" but it's not registering.

hahah as durable as superman? Nah maybe if he was an indy comic but otherwise that aint happening at DC everyone kisses the ring there. I dont think a bullet should phase him at all i agree but...Im sure the revolver scene was much like the simpson episode where bart made nelson bleed his own blood and immediately regret it, or did he get knocked out by the force like bitchmade movie version Wolverine?

Movie hulk? Aquaman is Aquaman. Hulk would crumple his body and punt his shit across an ocean if he tried to get brolic with the hulk.

Zack Snyder has reinforced the notion that Aquaman can take Superman on blow for blow. MoS Superman slaps MCU Hulk around like he's bored on a Sunday. Aquaman actually knows how to fight. Comics are a different story but as far as the movies go don't sleep on the DCCU power hitters.

come on now, i know you arent a fan. but lets not spread lies. her name to fame is not getting killed by superboy prime, and saving aqualads life. and good detective skills

No lies bruh, she like Arthur has a telepathic link to marine life.

And good detective skills is more than what Arthur has.

It doesn't really. I made my suggestion based on Marella from Earth 2 and a little bit of Invisible Woman (turning it into solid matter, quantum compression...which was a slight joke since you can't compress water and Mera can already make slice through all kinds of things so giving Arthur that isn't really that big of a deal).

She's pretty damn powerful but not to the point where no one else poses a challenge. Not sure if she can talk to marine life.

Also, everyone should be reading Earth 2.

she has that in titans tomorrow, not in the actual storyline

I don't think they would have written it as a possibility if she wasn't capable. But its Teen Titans where characters go to die so we'll never know if/when she would have developed it.

I love how they've built the entire design around Momoa himself. Even the arm guard pattern is pretty much just the real tattoo he has on his left arm. Instead of covering it up, they've made it part of the character.

So knives are their weakness?

That's lame.

You'd have to be pretty damn strong to inflict enough force to pierce their skin with said knife. It's like in The Avengers how Thor was stabbed by Loki with a tiny knife. It took frost giant physiology to pierce Thor's skin, and even then it was a flesh wound rather than anything else. If Ronan stabbed Thor with a kitchen knife, Thor'd be proper fucked.

To be fair, if we applied real life physics to Aquaman he would die horribly every time he swam up to the surface from that depth.
