First Look at Jason Momoa as AQUAMAN

That can easily be omitted. Come on. Marvel changed Ultron's origin. I think DC/wb/Snyder can justify a Aquaman not being blonde.

Edit: beaten. It's such a small thing now. Not a good reason to not like this look in my opinion. I of course would have liked more color but, that's me. Overall he looks good.

This.

Aquaman's half-human. That's all that matters re: Atlantis's attitude to him.

Meh, the hair is the least of his problems. They got to deal with 50 years of pop culture inertia

"Man look at them, they trying to make Aquaman hard now.".

Atlanteans hating him because that he's half-human is your usual stereotypical attempt at trying to create your typical outcast character, it's stuff you've seen in other movies before.

But if they go the other route, that him being blonde is the curse of Kronak (or however you spell that)....then it's actually a refreshing twist.

Me personally, I prefer the later but if the movie is good then I don't really care.

If a parademon can't handle a big shark, then that parademon wouldn't have been any threat to the JLA. So... they wouldn't have needed the sharks in the first place.

Why do they need batman then?

Only been one good Parademon

If the reaction online so far is indicative of anything, casual fans might be more open to Aquaman than we think.

Snarky nerds gonna be snarky nerds though.

One thing is for certain: the people playing these superheroes are anything but bitchmade. These are some big, scary sommbitches.

I think Marvel's scariest looking actor is...Thor? And he spends half his screen time grinning about something. The one Kree dude in GoTG looked badass but he got smoked. Everyone else looks downright polite next to DC's dark look.

What about Drax?

Don't like the design, but that's been true of almost every comic book movie. Also, it's Aquaman, so it's not like I'll watch it anyway.

Him and Wonder Woman are really good against blunt damage. Sharp things not so much.

Which for Aquaman makes no sense. I don't think writers quite grasp how dense Arthur's skin must be for him to withstand the pressure from standing at the bottom of the Mariana fucking trench.

Conventional blades shouldn't be able to slash him let alone pierce.

Maybe he is blond but he dyes it? The coloring in his hair and beard are very apparent. Could be they aren't tossing that out, and I hope they aren't.

I don't dislike the design, but it kind of threw me -- it's different than what I was expecting or hoping for.

Hoping this does well because I'd love to see an Aquaman film that takes place mostly under the sea.

will be interesting to see

Comics *jazzhands*

If I was writing Aquaman, he'd make Superman look bitch made.

Drax was a jobber and Gamora was damsel in distress.

Supes has suffered enough in the n52 :(. Though I hope Batman doesn't soak up most of league time.

I'd love to see the diner scene from new 52 aquaman adapted.

If being blond is a "huge part" of his origin, then I have no problem with Snyder butchering his origin. I'm going to assume this is satire and move on.

In Atlantean lore, his blonde hair is the sign of the curse of kordax. It's an omen that dates back to the time of ancient Atlantis and the evil tyrant known as Kordax. Because Kordax was distinguished by his bright, blond hair and his ability to telepathically communicate with marine life, it was believed that any Atlantean born with blond hair was deformed.

Blond hair was bad omen in atlantis, with good reason the last blond atlantiean, tried to eat everyone in the city.

ummmmm, Aquaman being blond is a huge part of his origin.

Not anymore. New 52 got rid of that element, and frankly, Geoff Johns' take was far more interesting.

I would too, but it kinda depends on how the world sees him after the events of Justice League.

Speaking of Superman, I hear Greg Pak's doing good work on Action Comics now.

Last interesting thing for Aquaman for me was Sub Diego.

New 52 hasn't been around long enough.

Are you saying you want to see Superman and Wonder Woman couple up on screen?

It's not satire. It's one of the things that's interesting about him, since most people knows him as the "lame guy who talks to fish"

Or alternatively I'd just make Aquaman the best hero in the DC line up. One thing, I wouldn't make an empathetic link to marine life his main ability because sorry to say it's cheesy. I wouldn't remove it but I wouldn't be dedicating panels to it. What I would do is make his main ability his ability to manipulate water and other liquids. With the backstory that his royal blood makes his water manipulating orders more powerful and nuanced than Mera. I'd have it be that while Mera can manipulate water to varying degrees, Arthur can manipulate almost any liquid. He can harden it to the tensile strength of steel, compress it on a quantum scale (stole this from Invisible Woman) making it sharper than any known metal, he can create water from the very molecules in the air we breath. And under the right circumstances and duress he can manipulate the liquids within solid objects. Similar to Bobby Drake he can even move around by manipulating the aforementioned air molecules. This is on top of his super strength and durability for obvious reasons.

Naturally he can command the sea as well. Those skills aside, because he's a nice person he holds back ala Superman (and Mera is like Supergirl in which zero fucks are given usually). But unlike Superman, AM will drop you if he feels he's been too nice to you. No need for random hand attachments and shit.

He now has a primary power that has multiple uses offensively, defensively and on support. And he's no longer a fish out of water when fighting on land with no ocean near by.

People have enough trouble writing Flash comics and you want to make Aquaman OP too? He should just get his psychic abilities extended a bit, since it makes no sense he can only mind-control water life.

The females of Aquaman stories were always more G than Arthur.

what is she notable for again?

Aquaman's sidekicks are always better than him

garth is dope, gets tossed to the bushes too aften. and that costume is terrible

he has some control over land life if he tries hard enough. at least enough to make people seize

Makes sense to me.

And really what I suggested wouldn't make him overpowered in the slightest. All of his enemies are at least as durable, strong and fast as he is if not quicker.

Speedforce is severely broken to what I suggested.

well im sure they arent being cut by run of the mill pocket knives or anything, if he gets cut up by Mera im not complaining.

He's been cut up several times by more conventional weaponry. His face got knicked by a bullet from a lowly revolver and he drew blood.

Yea that shouldn't happen. Wonder Woman? Sure. Aquaman? He shouldn't have even noticed someone shot him. I mean really he should be as resillent as Superman easily.

Again, I don't think people quite grasp just how dense AM's skin should be due to his ability to survive/swim/move comfortable in the water pressure at the bottom of the mariana trench. Like people see the words "bottom of the mariana" but it's not registering.

Do everything he can do without being of royal blood.

come on now, i know you arent a fan. but lets not spread lies. her name to fame is not getting killed by superboy prime, and saving aqualads life. and good detective skills
