First look at the PlayStation Vue interface.

I love the idea of Playstation vue, but from what I read of the execution I wouldn't consider getting it at the beginning due to:

1. I only watch three channels regularly, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, and FXX. Two of these would be available but CN, which arguably I watch more due to Adult Swim, isn't listed as Time Warner hasn't made a deal yet [?]. But if HBO goes online then I'd consider the sacrifice eventually.

2. How much is this going to kill my local bandwidth cap? I live in the US (as one might assume) and streaming HD channels could be a killer considering that I tend to watch tv in the background as I do other stuff. Couple that with digital game downloads, Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime, and unless I find a provider that has a large data cap I'd be scared to try without seeing how much the average users spends while watching this.

I really REALLY want to try PSV out when it comes out, but these two points are holding me back. I just want to stop paying as much as I pay for cable.

Looks nice.

Hope Vue means they finally get around to making an official PS4 remote. Kind of crazy it still doesn't exist.

I wish Sony's Smart TV UI was that smooth. What a piece of crap it is.

Mine is terrible too. I thought I might be able to use my Roku box on another television once I picked up a Sony smart TV, but it's so damn slow that I have no idea how anyone could use it for more than a few minutes before giving up.

You can cut the cord I guess which you are deciding on. Usually with Internet streaming you can control bandwidth or just let it auto scale.

Adult Swim is stingy as hell with almost all of their content. I would not expect to see them on any streaming services in the near future.

true. Which is a shame. I don't outright watch new shows in AS anymore, but it's nice to watch their shorts and reruns of King of the Hill.

Point 1 of mine is the least of my issues as I'm making due with my current provider, Suddenlink, having cut out Comedy Central.

I'd have to see the pricing and the bandwidth use of constant streaming.

I'm amazed that Sony was able to sign the deals for something like this before Apple. I'm interested in trying it out if it's cheap enough.

Looks great. Any information or pricing or a date? I am considering getting this service. (Alongside keeping Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, getting HBOs solution next year, and Showtime's if they will have one, and have already cut cable).

Looks super smooth, better than any TV GUI I've seen before. It makes me want HBO GO PS4 more than ever though. Wtf happened to that? Figured we'd at least hear something out of PSX. Sony, pls, HBO, pls

Nope. Pricing won't be announced till it's probably about to release, and all we know about the date is that it's early 2015.

Most of the things I've read about PlayStation vue have it pegged as more of a cable competitor than netflix. They were saying $60 to $80 a month.

Looks better than the UIs of all the satellite/cable providers I've seen. Which is there competition, right?

And it seems like it gives you more control than Netflix, which hides everything behind random labels unless you know the exact name of what you're searching for.

Hulu Plus will give you most if not all of Comedy Central's original content.

Hulu Plus is the one service I refuse to get because if I'm paying for streaming services I don't want to deal with ads and their ad space/time reservation seems to have grown throughout the years.

edit: should mention that if I ever go cable-less I'd consider it.

My man, you favorited man vs food, we gotta sit down and pig out together.

Exactly Sir Woofington. It seems you've recovered from the crashed hype train.

Same with Samsungs SmartTV. Quicker to turn on my PS4 than load the app screen and select the app.

Then why are you considering Playstation Vue? It certainly won't be ad-free.

Well like I said in my edit, I'd consider more options if it wasn't for being stuck with Cable right now which already has ads. And a fully digital streaming service world right now doesn't make too much sense to me, I'll wait for Vue to see my options.

And I'm sure none of the content shown off will be available in the Japanese version. :(

If they do offer American/British/Korean TV, I'm totally in. There's no way I'm paying any amount of money for Japanese TV, though.

Why not get Nasne or Torne?

I'm on Century Link DSL and they have a 300GB data cap for me. What is nice though they do not consider game downloading or streaming towards my cap. But let's say if I downloaded something through a torrent or music downloads, or video downloads it goes towards my cap. Also, any mobile phone connected on wifi is all considered towards my data cap.

They put all their stuff online, right?

___

Vue is actually looking pretty good. Hope they can pull more people on board

My limit is probably $30...

I think their magic number would be $40/month and it will be able to compete with cable

So you won the closest to a provider jackpot, jesus christ I'd kill for game downloads and streaming not going towards a cap.

But unless I move to a city where Comcast doesn't have a monopoly I don't see it happening.

Adult Swim has content on their website, but for most of it you need to log in with your cable TV provider's credentials. Which is to say you cannot see it unless you have a Comcast/TimeWarner subscription.

If you want a contest of who has the best provider, I don't have a cap.

Cox Communications in San Diego, baby.

Unlimited free Internets.
