Konami wrote an entire paragraph trigger warning:

It’s wild that people thinking art is inherently an endorsement of its subject matter is a big enough problem that games need to remind people not to be morons. Media literacy is cooked, COVID really scrambled some noggins

If you want I can show you some 90s and 2000s cartoons with similar warnings. 4kids used to be well known not only for their warnings, but also edits and script changes to multiple anime.

Forte is Italian (where the musical term comes from too), fort is French.

Game looks awesome, nothing about a release window?
Thank you for the correction. Either way, for me it makes sense if its fort or forte. Possible this is for next year since there is no announcement date this early. Cant wait for TGS this year to know more about it. I just hope they can connect the other SH series, from 1 to 4, to this game to make it more interesting.

"I believe the Silent Hill series was born out of blending the essence of Japanese horror with the essence of western horror. However, as it was based in the West for the longest time, it felt like the Japanese influence was fading. And so, this made us think, ‘What if we go in the opposite direction and make it 100 percent Japanese horror.’ And this game is the result."

I really like what I hear. So many IPs lost their identity due to westernization/globalization/wokeification, so it's good to see developers play to their strengths.

Have to say that despite that being nothing but cut-scenes it looks fantastic. Far more impressed with it than the Death Stranding 2 trailer.

Better to have warning labels than censorship, and we've had stuff like this for a long, long time. This is nothing new and something that existed long before COVID.

Censorship sucks, whether it comes from the Left or the Right.
Agreed, and I'm glad we've reached a point in time where 9 times out of 10 the worst thing we get is a warning label at the beginning of the media.
Yuuuuuup, similar warnings have existed for a LONG while in various forms, across various pieces of media. I never understood people being so pissy about warnings existing, it's a screen you bypass, and that's it. Most of the time it's just studios trying cover any potential liabilities, etc. I mean, if it's not there, someone could potentially make a stink and blame their game if they really wanted to. Much like all the GTA drama in the past. But putting such a thing there helps quite a bit, especially more so than putting nothing. It's also much better than censoring anything IMO.

My only fear is this game is not coming out this year, they didn't even give us a year window which suggest still early development.

I would be more than HAPPY to be wrong.

It kinda make sense since in Japan is very hard to get firearms and high school girl who never hold a gun in her life shouldn’t be fighting with guns.

I do hope the melee combat feels good to use but not crazy overpowered.

At first I thought just a copy of SH2R melee would suffice, but the success of that combat system was all about a smart interplay between melee, guns and the flashlight, expanding over different enemy archetypes. So I'm very curious how they go about keeping it simple here with melee only, while it needs to make sense for a 16-year-old schoolgirl. Maybe there are other ranged mechanics? I'm so ready to see some gameplay.

Maybe we might see her use everyday tools as range weapon like nail gun? I do agree, I'm already sold on the atmosphere and art direction but we desperately need to see some combat and I hope to god it doesn’t take forever to show us gameplay.

So it's about Yokai? Cool, I'm down for that! I'm already familiar with these creatures thanks to Ghostwire.
Remember how Silent Hill monsters comes to existence, sure some of the monsters might end up looking more like Yokai because she heard stories about it from her grandparents or friends but some of monsters might be based on her personal issues she is dealing with.

I'm torn. On the one hand, yes, narrative-wise, it makes perfect sense. On the other hand, encouraging the player to be melee-only makes the player subconsciously pursuit conflict head on, which is the opposite of what horror wants you to do. Hopefully, the enemies are dangerous enough to make combat risk-worthy.

Creative direction seems very much back on track. The art and writing seem likely to be on point, but obviously the game-design needs to hold everything together. And that's quite a tricky thing to balance, because although Silent Hill games traditionally include combat they aren't action games per se.

Interested in seeing more, but obviously a degree of cautious optimism is needed at this stage.

I don’t know, Condemned was very melee focused and I still shat my pants. You had a gun every now and then, but with limited ammo. Actually, those little moments holding a pistol or a shotgun where the times where I felt safe. I think it all boils down to how they balance it. I can’t imagine a 14 year old doing much damage with a melee weapon.

Good point. I guess I was worried because Callisto made melee combat feel utterly tension-less to me.

i guess it’s just me but I find the idea of running around in the shoes of a teenager in a school uniform not so scary. I think it works better in movies than in a setting where I’m controlling someone dressed like Sailor Moon.

Actually, it's Sailor Moon who is dressed like a school girl. XD
