First Look at The Witcher 4 Tech Demo

Looks nice but remember folks, it's a technical demo, not a slice of the final game. Temper expectations.

This shit ain't coming out till 2027, 2028 at the earliest.

Is it bad that everything i see screams unreal engine, cause i can just see it and it bugs the hell out of me. Nothings unique anymore, it looks slightly cartoonified and too clean
This is a fair point. UE is getting huge w/ built in character animators and so many other tools to help w/ pipeline. So many devs sharing these tools and assets will ineveitbly create some overlap.

Ciri looks so good in this. Cinematic she didn't look bad either and some angles looked different with lighting even in just that same video, but the in-game renders of her look great.

I'm planning on turning off motion blur. Some of the foliage during gameplay looks too muddied for me, but we'll see how that actually looks on release. Day 1 purchase for me.

Yep, Ciri looks better compared to the CG trailer.

Nanite foliage looks cool!

We will see how this is going to look like when they show the actual gameplay...

Looks like they took the Ciri criticisms to heart. She looks less "butchy lesbian." Not perfect but better.

Couldn't give less of shit about this technical demo after Witcher 3. They're setting themselves up for a Crowbcat takedown.

Oh boy, here we go.

Select people are going to act like this blurrovision screenshots are the best thing they've seen in gaming.

War, war never changes.

The video looks pretty decent, very fluid and solid performance as well.

But and that's a capital B.U.T .. it's a technical demo. CDPR did some real wild tech demos / initial showings of both their last major games. They've kinda lost trust with me until we get actual game play.

Even for a fake "demo" which will be vastly downgraded on release there is nothing impressive here

If that's base PS5, I can't wait to see this on the Pro. I joined the club just in time 2 weeks ago and I bought it for Death Stranding 2 and GTA 6. Speaking from someone with a 4090, I'm very impressed with this machine.

My experience with Unreal Engine 5 games that are actually released is that they are stuttery, poor performing, and have extremely distracting artifacts (i.e. SSR on top of Lumen reflections). While this demo looks impressive, so have previous ones. I think a healthy dose of skepticism is in order.

Wish they show more with combat against different monsters but so far it's amazing with what is shown.

Ciri looks great and beautiful.

The colors are nice and vibrant.

I wonder if it would be downgrade upon release like how Witcher 3 was upon release. But if it is than I'm guessing the PS5 version would get a slight downgrade while the PS6 and PC maintains the tech demo quality.

Resolution itself seems a bit low, so 60fps on base PS5 seems believable. Lumen reflections for 60fps can be cut as well. I don't think it will be downgraded either, Cyberpunk 2077 looked better on release than it did compared to the gameplay reveal.

The Unreal version they are using has some significant performance gains vs most of the games released so far. Lumen has seen some very good boosts with 5.4 and 5.5, CDPR has already previously discussed how they have overhauled the traversal system to have zero stutter, and this video shows how they are using the latest voxel based nanite system for faster performance.

The PC (PS6?) version will likely scale further with Unreal path tracing.

Cyberpunk looked better on PC, not on consoles for which they hid footage until the last minute.

I don't care if its lore accurate I am tired of all these girl boss characters in media and I wont watch or play it. Too many women.
Just listening to the try hard comedy dialogue in this gameplay video I couldn't stand it for more then 10 seconds. Its so unethenthic and not how ppl talk espacily in a dark fantasy

powerful ciri
kovir looks cool. i always wondered how it would look in an actual witcher game. safe but good choice
i'm glad it actually looks similar to witcher 3 artstyle and not a generic random unreal engine 5 game. it has its unique look to it

That's true, but did they ever advertise Cyberpunk 2077 running on console via a technical presentation? Unless I missed something they just kept showing off the PC version. It could bode well that they are saying this is the base PS5 version with the game still years away.

The screenshots are so blurry its hard to really decipher anything.

If that is representative of the image quality then I could absolutely see 60fps happening on a base PS5.

I'm sorry, but the GTA6 trailer is highly curated and directed to show off what they want. At 30.

I have no confidence GTA6 will run well. It will probably run like GTA5 did on PS3.

W4 runs at 60 with Unreal fidelity.
It also looks like witcher 3 ported into unreal 5.il take 30fps tht looks next gen anyday

Looks amazing to me. 😍

But no way I'm getting excited for this until I've seen some in-depth gameplay and heard some feedback on the story.

So i just watched the Witcher 4 presentation in the 4k60 livestream on gameawards.
Looks really good even though you can clearly tell it's 100% scripted and the guy with the controller is just faking it or probably just pressing W to walk forward like Hellblade 2 kekw...
Image quality seems to be something like 1080P or less upscaled, very blurry imho.
They claim alot of performance increases like Lumen is supposedly 100% faster to enable 60 FPS on base PS5.
Nanite trees and stuff look awesome.
Better animation matching and cloth physics also water sims.
They said streaming was 90% faster than in the Matrix demo when flying fast over the map.

If this is possible on a base PS5 @ 60, i wonder what it'll look and run like on my 4090:lollipop_blowing_kiss:
