First Madden 360 [RENDERED] shot!

Ramirez said:
Well you gotta 60 second commercial headed your way.

Seriously,a guy working on the game has already said on this board that he thinks the final product will look better than that render, why are some of you still doubting these graphics?

Cause the underpowered Xbox 360 is being rushed to market too soon!

Unless...

Look, even more flavors! But use them judiciously DMczaf, we don't want you to blow your load at all once!

I hear some of the Tiburon guys are partial to Banana.

When did they confirm that?

well, the official quote was along the lines of "we expect next gen consoles to output graphics like this", so I think we can safely assume that it wasn't an actual in-game shot.

Damn, this gen's madden really is ugly... cant wait for the commercial.

I think it is more to do with one gen compared to the next. Look at any game that made the leap from one gen to the next and tell me that we didn't see the same improvements. Look at the PSOne version of Madden and the PS2 version. The same leap was there as well.

:lol

Poor DM, if you would only play Winning Eleven you wouldn't be beholden to go down on EA employees anymore.

That shot is really impressive though and now I am excited about the next gen of Madden. I can't wait to see what happens to the gameplay as well. Still won't buy the Xbox or PS3 or Nintenwhatever at launch. Launches are highly overrated. There are almost no good games, accessories are always in short supply, and everything is overpriced. Better to wait a year when the first price drop comes and there are a lot more games to choose from.

It's not just that since nfl2K looked better than that last year. It looks like they didn't upgrade the engine at all for current gen games.

If this is all I get this generation and from EA Sports for the next 10 years...

I will be waiting for 2KSports NFL2K16 in the year... 2015...

Wow, it's closer than I expected to the concept render, though not QUITE there I don't think. Although it's very very zoomed in, and you can't see a lot.

It looks very probably in-game. You can make out hard edges on the nose. Although I guess we can't be sure that this is footage running on a specific next gen machine (aka X360), at least for now. I seriously hope EA wouldn't run an ad showing just concept footage relating to no specific platform's version of the game..

*takes out magnifying glass* ;)

Well, we don't really know how close that concept is to the finished product, but this:

shows that we can still expect Madden players to have the glazed-over look of zombies next-gen. :lol

Exactly what i was thinking! His eyes look completely blank, dull and lifeless. Everything else looks good

When playing do you really need to look deeply into the players' eyes? I am just not seeing how that would matter or be important at all. Just trying to understand how other gamers would find that important.

That's pretty much as expected. The next gen should be capable of delivering a much higher level of detail than anything we've seen to date. However, current gen games will cease to retain their visual appeal in a variety of ways. For example, even when a new DOA title shows up for the 360, I fully believe that Soul Calibur for Dreamcast will still look quite appealing.

This is entirely different from last gen, where games were loaded with an incredible number of severe visual flaws as a result of the hardware. They weren't simply adding more detail this generation, they were cleaning up the image as a whole and smoothing out performance. As with the 16-bit gen, I don't think this current gen will suddenly appear "ugly" after the next round of consoles hit.

One problem I'm afraid we will still be stuck with is poor animation. Even when models finally reach CG levels of detail, poor animation will ruin the overall effect.

Can't wait till Konami shows their personal vision of WE next-gen...Looks pretty cool but I am not a fan of Madden games.

I don't know really... I don't play sportsgames. I was just comenting on the blank stare of the football player. It still it looks impressive to me except for the eyes.

fuck yeah. Wining Eleven on Japanese Luanch would be awesome! Or just intime for World Cup 2006 :D

I guess this is what canning your entire sports department gets Microsoft. Madden at launch. Smart move by Microsoft.

That reminds of one friend who went to a meeting with EA a few weeks ago and being told that EA now uses Xbox360 whenever possible in internal meetings. And at first the marketing people kept asking why they were only shown CGs renders of the game.
I don't know if it's a true story or not, but seeing this I'd say this could indeed be true.

You know it looks good when the only thing people can complain about is the eyes.Let me think of how many times you will see a players eyes while playing.....ummmmm.....0!

which is why this screen shot is kinda dumb in the first place.

animation and environment are more important than whats being shown in that shot. (in terms of football games)

Haha, you know, I can people having a hard time believing it will look this good, but wtf is with these people thinking it doesn't look good enough?!

Well I don't know if I'm right or not,but I'm thinking they just showed this close up now, then they will show the whole field and shit in the commercial.A teaser of sorts ;)

Pretty amazing. Just like most people around here, when I first saw those next gen images EA released several months ago I assumed those graphics were some pie in the sky fantasy PR shots but now.....jeez. Hell, even if you're not a fan of Madden you can imagine the possibilties. An RPG with graphics of that quality? Good lord.

Bring on the 360 and PS3. I'm ready.

Why are people getting so hyped for this? Let's step back and think about it, shall we? When playing, you will mostly see the back of players from a distance. That means the character models will be simplified, the detail in this pic will be LODed out. And what else will we be looking at? Grass. Let's wait and see how the stadiums look, shall we?

What most football fans are hyped about is the animations/physics that will likely match those graphics :D

Oh and according to that site we'll be getting a new pic every day until Saturday! :D

True, very true. But the graphics are what will get the casuals/non-sports gamers in.

Most excellent. Hopefully they'll be a little less closeup and we can see some environmental detail (wink wink nudge nudge @ nathkenn)

What is that? The madden next gen concept screenshot?

If they get it at that level... isn't that as good as that CG commercial?

I'd blow my load over graphics like that... and I don't even like football.

hes right this reminds me of that vick cg commercial
edit* the funny thing would be if they aired that commercial again and said this is what the next gen madden will look like

This looks more realistic to what we will be seeing. You can notice how the detail in the jersey is bumped down (more like one object, not cloth floating on top), and the definition on the arms is down. I think the overall outline of the players will remain pretty consistent to what we see though. Definately expect fully rounded players and such.

The only thing I see being different from the first shot form a year ago to what we see on the one I linked to again is going to be the small things. The grass wont be that dynamic, the hands wont be that detaled, and the face wont be that articulate.

When playing do you really need to look deeply into the Riddell? Or the players' rears? Their tatoos? In real life football, the eyes and the football are the MOST important things to look at.

I was thinking the shots are from replays.
