First playable next-gen games confirmed for TGS

With the Tokyo Game Show only one week away, game publishers are beginning to announce their line-up for this year's event, which is expected to be as big (or bigger) than the TGS that took place right before the PlayStation 2's debut. The focus of TGS2005 is the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it's been anticipated that some of their games will actually be playable at the show. The latest issue of Famitsu has unveiled a preliminary line-up of next-generation titles for the show, and it confirms that a number of them will be playable.

The biggest surprise by Famitsu is that Namco's Ridge Racer 6 for the Xbox 360 will be playable at the show, even though no screenshots or trailers for the game have been released yet. The magazine also reports that the general public will get their first chance to try out Kameo: Elements of Power, created by Microsoft-owned, UK-based development studio Rare. Another Xbox 360 game to be playable at the show is Taito's jet combat simulator World Air Force, which fully takes advantage of the console's calculation capacity for real-time physics. A number of other Xbox 360 titles will also be on display at the show, although they've only been confirmed in trailer form for now.

On the other hand, the lineup of PlayStation 3 games for Tokyo Game Show 2005 is still looking small. Only two games have been announced so far--Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4 and Koei's Ni-Oh--and both will only appear in trailer form. However, it's expected that more PS3 games will be at the show, as Sony Computer Entertainment hasn't announced any of the games that will be at its booth yet.

The Tokyo Game Show will take place at the Makuhari Convention Center in Chiba prefecture from September 16-18. The first day is open to industry affiliates only, but day two and three will be open to the public. Tickets are available for advance sale at 1,000 yen ($9) and can also be purchased at the show for 1,200 yen ($11). The current list of next-generation console games at TGS 2005 is below.

TGS starts next Friday!! And Microsoft is holding a press conference on Thursday. Can't wait

No PDZ to be found eh....

Anyways, surprised they wont be showing Oblivion there. Just seems like a good market for that kind of game, even if it is in english.

Newest rumour I'm hearing is that PDZ will NOT make launch. Kameo will, but PDZ will supposedly be "before X-Mas". Whatever it takes to get the game in shape.

Can't wait to see RR6 and MGS4

If MGS4 doesn't disappoint and gets the usual fanfare, than I don't think it matters what MS have at the show for 360, it'll all be over. :0

I wonder what Dynasty Warriors 5 Special looks like...

You've got to think that Microsoft has been holding back something big for TGS don't you. I'm expecting at least 2 huge Japanese games, with one being exclusive. If they don't and lead with the Mistwalker games, Ridge Racer 6, Resident Evil 5, & 99 Nights, it will be nice, but I don't think enough to guarantee much buzz as everybody knows about those already.

Along the lines of RE5 & RR6. Something from Square and Konami would fit the bill. Konami has already said that they will develop a new flagship franchise for the 360.

Jesus christ Namco, dont make me extend my must have launch games to 7.

Heres hoping PDZ is delayed, just so i can give the other games a chance with my time.

MGS4 trailer should be the main draw of TGS, i cant fucking wait. New announcements and more impressions of currently announced titles, then X05. What a great time to be a gamer

Agreed. MS has to have something to avoid getting swept under the rug.

I wouldn't go that far. It should be a spectacular show for the 360 just to see the status of the playable games. Although, the bulk of the one we saw @ E3 won't be playable until X05, given the western slant of most of the heavily anticipated games.

If all they show is basically shit they've already shown (sans RR6), they'll get swept under a rug. They need to show stuff that's not only new, but looks great to boot.

Yep, need to see some more on Blue Dragon, and they need a "name" game. Anything less, and they simply can't compete with MGS4. Plus, just what has Sony still not told us about yet?

shame on MS, at just 2 months away from the launch all games should be playable at least a demo level

Developer make games for release, not for TGS*.

* Except for Bizarre Creations who have "special code" for PR purposes ;)

Thing is, Japan still isn't a big market for them. X05 is much more important.

Cant believe RR6 is gonna be there, guess im conditioned on the Western culture of constant media leaks during development.

I happen to agree with Calidors statement ....
Even looking at this from a retail stand point..
What good are the kiosks with nothing playable...
Also should'nt we start seeing print ads in mags yet?

As each day goes by - I get more worried.

I'm not expecting any "huge" announcements. They'll probably get a bunch of new franchises from top developers though. Okamoto's action game will probably look great...

New MGS 4 trailer. Excellent, though I doubt we'll see actual gameplay footage, I'm sure we'll see some PS3 assets. World Air Force looks interesting. Looking forward to some impressions on that and RR 6.

"METAL GEAR SOLID 4"
PS3での実機映像を、全世界初公開

It's offical: First trailer of MGS4 running on PS3 will be shown at TGS... :D :D :D

I bablefish'ed the full story

With E3 which was done in 2005 May, the next generation platform "PlayStation 3" being similar, it was announced "METAL GEAR SOLID 4 (temporary)" that it is produced. Production principal staff and "NO PLACE TO HIDE! (There is no place where already it hides!) "With the meaning of saying it is this work which is stopped deeply in announcement of concept, but this" Tokyo game Shaw 2005 "being similar, it was decided that entire world long-awaited apparatus images are finally released. Concerning exhibition form, because it has become the schedule which is announced in the next few days, 乞 う expectation. Kojima director you stare, "future", with TGS makes clear!

Looks like they will show the concept of 'no place to hide' and release pics too!

I'm excited to see next gen Dynasty Warriors. A part of me hopes Koei did this next gen style but the truth is, they probably just added some more characters, cut down the fog, and decreased load times.

They are saving the true next gen sequel of Dynasty Warriors for PS3. The Xbox 360 version is probably just an enhanced port of DW5

Koei said at E3 they have 3 projects for PS3 in development.
The first is Nioh, maybe at TGS they'll unveil the others.
