Wipeout Pure rules. Just got first place on a tournament because the guy who was ahead of me finished 4th while I got 1st on the last race. Won 27 to 26, woo!

Are you still mad that PSP is having sluggish sales? Really, no need to carry the anger into other threads....

Funny, i was thinking about this and PSO's browser last night right before i went to bed. MAME's a bit of a long shot at this point seeing as how homebrew code hasn't been run off the stick at this point. And it would be really easy for Sony to slip something in a new firmware update that made unauthorized code run of the stick, similar to how Apple updates iTunes to keep it from downloading DRM-free music and whatnot.

Anyways, the point is that at some point (and I predict sometime next year), PSP will have a legit browser of sorts. The analog nub will be perfect for a "mouse" too.

The other point is that PSP is very hackable. Which is great -- so quit bitching. :)

Why would I care if the PSP has (unproven) sluggish sales? The thing *is* $250 bucks and doesn't look particularly durable. I understand consumer trepidation regarding it, if that is infact the case. Doesn't mean the thing won't sell gangbusters in the long run, but three day after launch, how the fuck do you expect me to tell one way or the other?

My point in that thread is not that the PSP rocks -- which it does. It's that the DS is a huge fucking joke, and I feel a sort of heart-wounding pity for anyone that convinces themselves they should blow $150 on a low-res PSOne with very little in the way of decent games.

I actually feel the PSP analog nub is better suited to "mousing" PC-style games than it is to driving/platforming content. In fact, I'd take it over the stylus, which requires an uncomfortable hand position and a stylus that obscures part of the contact point.

Cool news !

But I think this an emulation are different things...He has hacked a game but hasn't ran any homebrew soft...

Yep; it works perfectly for navigating the Untold Legends menu screens.

its nothing more than having a custom page instead of the WP download page. Its a browser already in the game. Mame would be harder. Coding it for the PSP, etc.

For games, definately. But for webbrowsing I'd prefer a stylus - not that any kind of webbrowsing on small screen like that is particularly comfortable.

No, he hasn't done anything. He hasn't modified any PSP software at all.

The Wipeout download section is simply a web-browser. That browser, by default, is set to contact ingame.scea.com and request a certain directory (i.e. /wipeout/). All this person has done, and I have done, is to change the name servers in the network settings section on the psp to point to a personal DNS server...which then resolves ingame.scea.com to whatever you want.

Simple -- and not proof the PSP is hackable at all.

Okay, okay. You rule. My bad.

Didn't mean to sound rude. :P

Just don't want people jumping to conclusions and nine topics springing up with names like:

"PSP HACK CONFIRMED - Emulation When?"
"First PSP Hack Published - UMD --> Memstick When?"
"PSP H4X0R3D (SONY AM CRY!!)"

;)

Did you get around to browsing sites via the WOP browser? i saw you post in the official thread and basically added the UA to Firefox for future browsing of PSP minisites.

It's a hack in the sense that it's doing something it wasn't originally meant to do, but not in the sense that it's opened the door to homebrewing. i'm siding with fugimax on this one.

The few friends I've showed the PSP off to already have commented that they will be picking up a unit the moment it allows for web browsing.

The idea of playing Twisted Metal online, or paying hundreds for mem sticks that barely handle what their fancy Ipods can handle didn't gel with them. (Don't blame em)

However, when Pocket PC's entered the debate, it was fervently agreed that nothing on the market can touch the beauty of this screen.

Ya, I'm browsing GAF right now with it (note, not posting from it...just navigating). I can see why, if this is the current state of Sony's psp browser implementation, it isn't accessible for use yet. It's very *very* slow -- it took like 4 minutes to completely render GAF's gaming discussion topic list.

Loading up this topic now...will post a pic in a sec..

Unproven? Even the craptacular DS had higher markups. When PSP are selling for below retail on Ebay, you know the demand is bad.

Do you understand the concept of supply and demand?

Very few people on this forum seem to be able to grasp that concept.... and here I thought even basic economics was taught in most high schools....

*cough* supply *cough*
you mean even 3 months after DS' launch PSP still has better supply than DS on PSP's launch day ? ...
:lol

I am looking forward to Sony's press release about how they SHIPPED (not sold) 100 billion PSP in one week. :lol
