ive been saying that since the moment this debacle began. all the positive things attached to this movie will be contributed to wright, while all the negative will be attached to him. he was losing since he picked up the script
He didn't say it is the highlight, just that it is a must see after credit scene.

I liked it when I saw it, but honestly I've been forgetting that it happened. It definitely isn't as good as I first thought it was.

The film's been totally forgotten from pop-culture mindshare.
That should tell you a lot about what ppl thought about it.
Such a contrast to the hype leading up to it too. Toys, talk etc.
It's less "bad" than forgettable. And imo, that's worse.

Prescreening previews are given to sites that generally favor comic book movies or blockbusters in general. The marketing department does a good job of selecting who to go watch it.
Funny thing is when I saw Winter Soldier the dude from Marvel said they purposely invited some people that didn't like the first Cap movie. That's how much faith they had in the film.

I think that was a deliberate part of their marketing as well. They were trying hard to differentiate the two Captain America films, so inviting critics who didn't like the first one seems to be a good way to get early word out that it's a totally different type of movie.

Funny, this is how I also felt about the first Avengers. So far, the big crowning ensemble flicks of the whole MCU - what you might even say the whole point of an MCU to begin with was - are pretty mediocre and hold up less and less upon repeated viewings and more scrutiny.

While others say it's not bad as it is forgettable, I think it's just bad:
- Doesn't even try to be a film that glues Phase 2 together
- Invalidates every film to come before it
- Some films have plot holes, but this film has PLOT HOLES that are not even explained at all beyond "this needs to happen"
- Characters are just in this film because it's an Avengers film

Was really hyped for AoU but this was exactly how I felt leaving the cinema. It had some moments that were good but overall just a huge letdown.

I need to see it a few more times to say for sure but I think I probably enjoyed it more as well.
The test footage he shot was promising, it actually got me excited about a superhero movie.
Too bad they didn't work it out.

I want to note that some of the minor things that aren't explained in AoU are actually done so in the Agents of SHIELD show (e.g. how the Avengers found Strucker's base at the beginning).

That magic pool shit was the last straw. One of the worst scenes in recent memory.
I just came to the sad realisation that the only Marvel Studio films I've missed in cinemas have been Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk. This probably won't be number three, though Edgar Wright's shadow looms large.
