Konami will need Ys 1-5 in a package to get through SCEA.
But Konami would have to through two companies for that Collection (one of which went bankrupt last year). :/

At this point, I'd settle for just Ys IV-V actually...

I didn't actually even know they were remaking this one. Just reminded me that I have Ys Book 1 and 2, but none of the TG-16 emulators have CD sound under windows xp. I too would like to see Ys 4 and 5 translated on any system.

Adol is still chibified in Ark of Naphistim. O_o.

Anyhoo, that looks fairly nice. It`s like the redheaded step child of the Ys series to a lot of fans though, I think.

I enjoyed this game. I was also like 15 when I played it on the SNES, which is probably the worst version of it around, but it was neat. Update isn't looking too bad. I hope for some slick parallax and effect work though.

When is Y's 6 gonna hit BTW?

I remember playing and enjoying one of them...

It was for SNES...

I had absolutely no idea about the rest of the series.

Ys Books 1 and 2 are my favs in the series. 3 was pretty good as well, but switched the direction from a top-down view to a side-scrolling view. I played these on the TG-16. Never played 4 and 5. Played 6 on the PC and thought it was also very enjoyable with some pretty nifty effects. Some of the boss fights were pretty amazing. I forget, does Ys 3 feature the classic method of dealing damage by running into the badguy or do you actually to strike the enemy with your sword?

Hmm, I've yet to play Ys 3. I have played some of Ys 1 and 2 and I finished Vs VI (which I loved!). I can't believe I ignored these games for so long. Great fun!

You actually strike enemies with your sword. There are two versions of Ys 4. The Snes version, called Mask of the Sun, as developed by Tonkin House. There's a translation patch available for it. The TG-16 one, Dawn of Ys, was developed by Falcom, and released for the Cd. Ys 5 came out late in the snes's life Same top down perspective, and you swing your sword to attack like 3.

The PCE Ys IV was developed by Hudson (just like the PCE YS I-III). Falcom was actually working on the MegaDrive/CD version but that one was canceled. Each of the three versions (SFC, PCE & MD) were said to be different though, and Mask of the Sun was the official subtitle according to Nihon Falcom.

didn't it start on master system? That's where i played it first.

edit: Thanks jarrod :D

YS was the first rpg i ever played, and I remember it as confusing since I was just 9 years old :) you had to go into the enemies since you had no fightning button.

Hehehe, this one better not have the SNES version as an example speed concerned :D. 'nyway, makes me happy. The westernization of Adol in YS VI makes me FUCKIN sad. What's with that Konami?!?

Proportionate western models> generic chibi shit we've been seeing in Japanese games since the 80s

Someone better explain to me what the hell they`re talking about when they say "Westernized" Adol before I start throwing some weight around here ;p.

Konami fucking replaced Adol's sprite with one that's more normally proportioned.

Fuckers.

(SNES version of Ys III was inferior to the Genny and Turbo CD versions, imho.)

If it looks better, screw tradition. The SD 3D model was ugly and staring at it for 15-20 hours was a damn eyesore.

Now I wanna know what the new one looks like.

Any larger pics of the Ys VI model? Is it even still a sprite?

I also didn't care for Adol's rendered sprite in Vs VI.
