When I get to my working sets on deadlifts, my left hand loses its grip and the bar drops to my fingers tips as I come up, resulting in me having to stop and readjust my grip when I'm back at the starting position. Is the weight too heavy, or should I switch to a different grip?

Just curious, should I stick with flavored oatmeal or switch to non flavored? And does instant make a difference?

Well, old fashioned quaker oats with 27grams of carbs, 1 gram of sugar, 4 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of protein and 100% of that is oats

Strawberies and cream oatmeal contains 27g of carbs with 12grams of sugar with less fiber and protein than the old fashion stuff and is made with a bunch of shit. partially hydrogenated soy bean oil seems to be the worst offender. So more sugar and you get to eat partially hydrogenated oils too. Not good

Just buy some frozen fruit and dump them old some old fashioned oatmeal if you want it to actually taste good

Ok, so will old fashioned instant be an option?

What do you guys think about this supplement list for a guy getting back into training seriously and wants to lean up while trying to add some mass. I'm 6'4'' and 195lbs with a somewhat lanky build that is skinny-fat. Body fat percentage is around 14% give or take which I would like at or below 10%.

This I need because my T levels are low and it could help me out to some extent.

I also want a Creatine mix rather than just one type of Creatine and I read this is supposed to be good.

As far as protein goes I'm thinking want a protein blend or just straight up whey. The only issue I have with whey is I hear it doesn't last in your body as long.

Well, thats the nutrition. Nothing bad really pops out at me and it has less carbs and sugar than old fashioned, but less protein and fiber it seems. definitely better than flavored oatmeal. But why do you care if its instant? Personally, I think instant tastes like crap, and old fashioned takes only like 2-3 minutes in the microwave

Thanks, Southern Illinois University. Used the GI bill and Illinois veteran grant, so it's basically been my job to go to school the last 4 years.

Hey, I didn't know you lived in Illinois.

Wait until you discover Irish oatmeal.

Canned beans are fine. Just be aware of the sodium content. Other than that, it is a great source of protein and carbs.

Canned tuna/salmon is also perfectly fine. Only thing to be aware of is the mercury content. I haven't done too much research on this myself so check up on that to see if it really is as true as they say. For the canned tuna, get the ones in water, not in oil.

Takes a little longer to cook but my god the nutritional content and the flavor is so worth it.

good credit (by proxy)
Buy oats (whatever kind) in the bulk section unless you wanna pay like 3-5x the price for the same exact thing.

There's very little difference in nutritional value between the different kinds.

holy shit, Greek yogurt is fucking awesome. The plain flavour is a bit much, but now I just throw some of that in with my shakes and it tastes awesome.

The oil saps the omega 3 or something, right?

Get sardines if you want Omega 3s. They have way more.

Oil doesn't really sap Omega 3, however, most Tuna packed in oil, is packed in cheap soybean oil, which is loaded with Omega 6. Too much Omega 6, tips the Omega3/Omega6 ratio in favor of Omega 6. When that scaled is tipped, you have more inflammation. Omega 3 is anti inflammation.

Many studies suggest that the prevalence of heart disease is also due to the imbalance of our Omega 3/Omega 6 ratios. Most processed junk, fried foods, etc., all are loaded with the cheaply processed Omega 6s. Omega 3s, which come from grass fed meat, fish, and even some green leafy vegetables, such a purslane, are rarer in modern diets.

If you'd like more info on the topic, here's a review article

The author also has a book for the layman. Interesting stuff for nutrition geeks. Extra virgin olive oil, real cold pressed stuff, is an Omega 9 fat. Those are generally heart healthy as well. But remember the olive oil has to be extra virgin.

Just remember most things aren't pure Omega 3, Omega 6, or Omega 9. They're all ratios. Cold water fish like salmon just have a greater ratio of Omega 3 fatty acids in their tissues, compared to the other EFAs--essential fatty acids.

What bout tuna in sunflower oil?

It's fine as long as if you're not heating it. Heating certain oils is what damages their n3 profiles.

If you're cutting, though. I'd go with water packed Tuna or drain very well. Oil hides tons of hidden calories.

So I'm in Newport Beach, CA now for a month and did some stairs and hill runs at Corona Del Mar beach for about an hour and then ended at the Nektar Juice Bar and got some lime, orange, kale, spinach, cucumber concoction that tasted amazing.

It seems like a no brainer as being healthy with all the greens they blend in but I forgot to see if they use actual oranges that they squeeze or orange juice and that's a big difference ..

Gym is such a positive force in my life I dont feel like 4 times a week is enough, but I know any more than that is over training.

Is there anything I can do so I can go 5-6 times a week. Like adding light cardio or something?

More than 4 gym sessions a week is not necessarily over training.

Go to the gym every day. Recovery is specific to what's recovering. Don't do chest twice in a row, don't do legs twice in a row, etc. Go too crazy on the cardio and it might inhibit muscle growth.

so if I do legs on a tuesday and then legs on a friday, thats enough time for my legs to recover?

How do you guys feel about almond milk? Mainly the taste/cooking with it. Thinking about using it to flavor things up a bit and maybe baking while on this cut. Good brands? Don't want to buy some and pour it down the drain after one swig, lol.

Not asking about how it compares to cow's milk. So don't worry about that.

I really liked it. I don't know about cooking with it, but I used it with my shakes and really enjoyed it. Stopped though because I'm on a bit of abudget right now and almond milk is about double price of normal milk here.

Right now I go to the gym 3 days out of the week for a full body workout, but I'm adding two days for some isolation work. For example I'll work calves, abs, forearms, neck.. just things I wouldn't do that much of on a normal day.

Also, if you want to be more active you should pick up a martial art or some other sort of body discipline activity.

Most of these programs are variations of HIIT routines. So if you want to shed fat, they're good. However, I really don't like the boot camp focus at it fosters short term thinking in terms of fitness. I've learned to enjoy the journey. But if you can't afford or have access to the gym, they can be effective.

Based on your questions, you seem like you want to lose fat, so they'll help with that.

They definitely work if you follow it and dial in your diet as they all recommend along with the fitness program.

Yeah, I was thinking of mainly using it for oatmeal, and baking.

I got some unsweetened coconut flavored almond milk. Just made a bowl of oatmeal, mixed it with the last bit of my chocolate whey, little cocoa powder. Tastes damn good. Like a warm bowl of Cocoa Pebbles.

I really enjoy the almond coconut milk mix. has the best taste imo...the Dark chocholate almond milk is delicious as well for when you feel like induldging. If I am baking or using milk for tea however i will usually use vanilla rice milk.

So I bought some lentil and chickpeas to cook with. 15g of protein per 100g of chickpeas and 9g per 100 for lentil. Something worthwhile to look into if you want extra protein besides coming from just meat/dairy.

Get it done!! You're gonna look pretty damn insane when you get down, from what I've seen of you already. What kind of HIIT do you do? I've been doing sprints, but in all honest... I like cycling too much and wouldn't mind switching over, even if it's easier.

Normally, I'll incorporate HIIT at the end of a Chest/Tri or Back/Bi workout 4x a week. I'll sprint for about 1 minute, say 10MPH on the treadmill, then jog at 5MPH for 45 seconds. I'm looking to slowly increase it from 12 minutes to 17 minutes by May 10.

I'm going to Ireland on May 24. It's my first time abroad and it'll be the start of my summer, and I'd like to look great by the beginning of my summer.

I really, really, really don't get bench shirts. How did bench shirts become okay?

I never got it either. I know it is a separate division and all but then like what is the point? If everyone in the geared division is wearing them then why doesn't everyone just not wear them. I'm sure there's a good explanation but it sounds so silly.
