You need someone to chase though for motivation!
Where is it sore? Are they slipping forward during squats?abuC said:So my right knee which has been problematic all my life is almost always sore after squats and nearly gave out on me as I was moving under the bar. Ya one of my friends has a completely jacked up knee. The only time he ever walks normal is the night after squats. Activates all the muscles to keep the joint stable.Alienshogun said:Odd, I was actually having back and knee problems before I started training lower body.
Now they are completely gone. Perhaps your form is jacked up?

Alienshogun said:I see a lot of guys at the gym with bigger biceps than me, however, my arms still look bigger because my triceps are substantial. I've only seen a 3 or 4 guys with bigger triceps at my gym.
I don't really do much Bicep only work since back seems to work them enough, plus I don't feel like re-injuring my elbow.
I have a structural flaw in my right knee, I started getting early arthritis and bad tendinitis around 19-21 and tore the meniscus in the same knee in 8th grade. 20 years of basketball really didn't help much either. My form is fine, I just don't think I'll be able to progress much with squats because I really can't trust my knee. Case in point when my knee nearly gave out it was a no load situation, I was just stepping under the bar.Alienshogun said:I had a soldier out of Long Island that used to play lacrosse before he joined the Army, dude was fit and the ladies loved his body.
There's definitely something about that sport.

I do box squats and go just about Atg, my left knee feels great after every workout while my right knee feels like I have been running for 20 miles and is slightly swollen. The soreness is dead center inside my knee, it feels like a slight sprain and it takes about a week for it to go away.parrotbeak said:Where is it sore? Are they slipping forward during squats?

Yeah it sucks, my bench is higher than my squat which is pathetic. My father had microfracture surgery to repair his knee so it seems to be hereditary.Alienshogun said:Holy shit bud, sorry to hear that.
Should be interesting!

Jason's Ultimatum said:Eh, my right elbow hurts and I still push through the pain. Well, it's not my elbow. It's the little round bone next to my elbow. Been about a month now and it still hurts. My left side is feeling a bit tender, too. Someone told me it could be from doing too may pullups. Biceps I stopped doing for a few weeks, and nothing.
abuC said:Jason, pushing through elbow pain is a lot different than worrying about if your knee will give out just going up a flight of steps.
I'll give it a try, my next leg day is Tuesday. The one leg squats with body weight is a good idea, I might even try some today thanks.X-Frame said:Have you ever tried some high rep, slow and controlled bodyweight lunges? You obviously have an imbalance between legs, and it'll only accentuate that if you keep doing bilateral movements. Try single-leg movements and even though more of the weight will be on your bad knee, if you keep the form strict and using your bodyweight it might improve circulation to the knee joint and help.
Obviousy though if you try single-leg work and you immediately feel a lot of pain, stop.

Did you read the pull up article MJ posted a couple pages ago?Jason's Ultimatum said:Eh, my right elbow hurts and I still push through the pain. Well, it's not my elbow. Damn, that sucks. Can you do leg presses, or is that the same thing?abuC said:I have a structural flaw in my right knee, I started getting early arthritis and bad tendinitis around 19-21 and tore the meniscus in the same knee in 8th grade. 20 years of basketball really didn't help much either. True, it's just that I'm much more motivated to go when I'm supposed to meet up with someone. Also to push myself harder.Alienshogun said:That's not so bad. I work out alone.
parrotbeak said:Ya, I have to work out alone. Can't keep up with my friends anymore. I like going at my own pace anyway and being able to focus on how I feel.
As for benching, random people will usually be happy to spot for you. It's just finding someone who isn't going to hover right over you like they want to teabag.

I don't know if it's the weather here in NY, or if I'm pushing myself the right way, but I am a sweaty mess during workouts. I never used to sweat like this in the past.
