So my right knee which has been problematic all my life is almost always sore after squats and nearly gave out on me as I was moving under the bar. I'm to the point where I might have to stop doing them or just do them every two weeks.

I'm still sexier though, thanks to my 10 years of playing lacrosse.

I had a soldier out of Long Island that used to play lacrosse before he joined the Army, dude was fit and the ladies loved his body.

There's definitely something about that sport.

Odd, I was actually having back and knee problems before I started training lower body.

Now they are completely gone. Perhaps your form is jacked up?

I have flamingo legs. Come at me bro.

No prob's, my gym bro's got skinny legs and can almost keep up with me :) he's got better biceps though :(

You need someone to chase though for motivation!

I dislocated one ankle 45* playing rugby. As a result both are basically arthritic at 25 years old :( restricted range of motion etc (cant keep my feet flat in a squat) and it sucks balls. Just lower your weight to get your form sick and do more on leg presses etc.

I see a lot of guys at the gym with bigger biceps than me, however, my arms still look bigger because my triceps are substantial. I've only seen a 3 or 4 guys with bigger triceps at my gym.

I don't really do much Bicep only work since back seems to work them enough, plus I don't feel like re-injuring my elbow.

Where is it sore? Are they slipping forward during squats?

Ya one of my friends has a completely jacked up knee. The only time he ever walks normal is the night after squats. Activates all the muscles to keep the joint stable.

Yeah, I was amazed after all the horror stories about how "bad" squats/deads can be for you.

They have actually saved me from a world of pain. Just a year ago my back actually went out and I had to be on bed rest with muscle relaxers. Now no pain in my back or knee at all. It's like everything the Army did to mess me up is fixed.

So glad I started training back/legs. (except for like right now, deads yesterday and I've got DOMs like a mofo)

Yeah he's got better bi's but I can do more weights in the curl and stuff than him. We training for strength mainly at the moment but when we go hydrophy we will see.

I have a structural flaw in my right knee, I started getting early arthritis and bad tendinitis around 19-21 and tore the meniscus in the same knee in 8th grade. 20 years of basketball really didn't help much either. My form is fine, I just don't think I'll be able to progress much with squats because I really can't trust my knee. Case in point when my knee nearly gave out it was a no load situation, I was just stepping under the bar.

Should be interesting!

Eh, my right elbow hurts and I still push through the pain. Well, it's not my elbow. It's the little round bone next to my elbow. Been about a month now and it still hurts. My left side is feeling a bit tender, too. Someone told me it could be from doing too may pullups. Biceps I stopped doing for a few weeks, and nothing.

I do box squats and go just about Atg, my left knee feels great after every workout while my right knee feels like I have been running for 20 miles and is slightly swollen. The soreness is dead center inside my knee, it feels like a slight sprain and it takes about a week for it to go away.

Yeah it sucks, my bench is higher than my squat which is pathetic. My father had microfracture surgery to repair his knee so it seems to be hereditary.

Jason, pushing through elbow pain is a lot different than worrying about if your knee will give out just going up a flight of steps.

Have you ever tried some high rep, slow and controlled bodyweight lunges? You obviously have an imbalance between legs, and it'll only accentuate that if you keep doing bilateral movements. Try single-leg movements and even though more of the weight will be on your bad knee, if you keep the form strict and using your bodyweight it might improve circulation to the knee joint and help.

Obviousy though if you try single-leg work and you immediately feel a lot of pain, stop.

All I know is that doing biceps irritates it, so I cut them out for the time being. I don't want anything interfering with my back routine.

I would "push through it" if it was just muscle pain from use, but this I know, isn't just muscle. Something is overworked/injured.

I'll give it a try, my next leg day is Tuesday. The one leg squats with body weight is a good idea, I might even try some today thanks.

Same. The only time it's bad is when I'm benching, I always feel like I might be able to get one or 2 more reps, but stop because I don't want to get trapped.

It's not a bad thing if you aren't afraid to ask someone to spot you (no matter the weight) I was stuck around 220 for bench cause I was doing it solo at home and a bit puss to go up by myself. Went from 220 to 250+ for a 1 RPM in 3 months with the extra confidence of a spotter. Might go 265 on Monday ;)

Ya, I have to work out alone. Can't keep up with my friends anymore. I like going at my own pace anyway and being able to focus on how I feel.

As for benching, random people will usually be happy to spot for you. It's just finding someone who isn't going to hover right over you like they want to teabag.

Did you read the pull up article MJ posted a couple pages ago?

Damn, that sucks. Can you do leg presses, or is that the same thing?

Yeah I did. I started doing that when I did back a few days ago. I did 100 pullups, 10 reps 10 sets. I split 5 sets as my first workout and the last 5 sets at the end of my workout.

True, it's just that I'm much more motivated to go when I'm supposed to meet up with someone. Also to push myself harder.

I'm in the best shape of my life, I'm just lazy as fuck.

Right now this is my body type...

Yeah, there's this one old guy at my Golds that I swear is juicing, anyway, he ALWAYS asks for a spotter for every god damn thing. It used to be "ok," but the fucker reeks of BO and never cleans up his weights or the equipment he uses, so now I just avoid his ass.

Don't be THAT guy!

Does sweat mess them up?

I don't know if it's the weather here in NY, or if I'm pushing myself the right way, but I am a sweaty mess during workouts. I never used to sweat like this in the past.

I sweat like a beast during workouts. They are firm and in place the whole time.

I've had pretty bad experiences with headphones so far. Normal plugs pull out whenever I get on a calf raise or Squat machine.... since my heads to big and my necks to thick. Also need some some noise cancelling ones to cut out the Katy Perry and other trash the gym is rawkin.
