How do you intend for people to argue against you when you can magically change the meaning of any word in your posts?

What one person means by "fundamentalist" and what another means by it may be two different things. Even the Wikipedia article acknowledges as much.

Heeeeey, it's DeusTrinitas!

The last time I saw him was in what seems to be this exact thread, but it's just that he says the exact same things in every thread that it gave me a deja vu feeling to this thread.

I think he just goes through a check list when posting in a thread. I see we've come to n°5: attempting to convolute the arguments by demanding exact definitions of words.

Aw, look at you digging up old threads to try to trash another member! How quaint.

one day, ill get this "LOL FLORIDA" end of GAF to respect that miami is not what you're speaking of.

Will you guys stop moving down here if you hate us so much? Also florida should be looked at as two areas. South Florida (Lets say orlando to north everglades down) and North Florida. North Florida is the South. South Florida is the Caribbean's Mainland.

That's how I've always viewed it. I'm from Broward.

also, this.

The terminology that typically flies around in threads like these is along the lines of "right-wing," "uber-religious," "nutjobs," "Christians," "fundamentalists," etc. GAF paints with a broad brush indeed.

As for me condemning the group in question, of course I condemn their actions. Burning the holy book of another religion is nothing but incendiary.

I wanna see five posts minimum in this thread that say that.

Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians are usually the type discussed.
...or suicide bombers.

:lol Thats the first time i've seen someone have a GAF bounty placed on their head.

It's just more evidence of his persecution!
and not because he's behaving in a way to stir shit up for no reason.

I lived in Gainesville for three years (before moving away for school). The town is very redneck. The heart of the city is UF, and the people associated with UF are for the most part your usual college liberal types. But outside of that population, it's a town comprised of a bunch of Good Old Boys. This doesn't surprise me in the least. The surrounding towns (Archer, Newberry, Alachua) especially are insanely backwoods.
That's exactly the point I was making. I went to Auburn which is much smaller than UF and the city (Auburn) is much smaller than Gainesville. The locals were backwoods rednecks, the students were from all over and offered a stark contrast (mostly).

I gotta wonder if some of the Juniors who come in with this huge anti-GAF ace to grind aren't the same people over and over.

In this particular case, he was previously banned for posting a thread that was basically "Homosexuality is a crime against nature and nature's God" in the guise of a discussion of same-sex activity amongst animals, so I think he was already on a short leash.

damn, did he get permed already lol. I was planning on following him around like I was trying to back get a bag of weed a dog had eaten. He beat my predictions!

You're upset? I was already working on my new tag! I didn't have anything concrete yet, but I was going to go for 'something something damn his dick is big! something something'.

What a disgusting expression of the same xenophobic impulse that lead to the loss of the Bamyan Buddhas and countless other irreplaceable treasures throughout history. Utterly reprehensible. Christian leaders owe it to their tradition to condemn this petty barbarism without qualification.

Society would be better served by organizing a read a book day.

Exactly.

It's not atheists, Muslims, Richard Dawkins or rock music that is most threatening to Christianity.

It's OTHER CHRISTIANS. It's the ones that do this, that completely revel in their hatred and pettiness that lower the religion's credibility more with every word they speak.

With every book burned, they just drive more people away. And when other Christians justify it, like that DeusTrinity guy, it makes it WORSE, because that means he (and others like him) would do anything to defend their numbers, including defend horrible, dishonest actions.

Numbers over honesty? That's one of the worst messages to tell the world about religion.

Non-denominational evangelist church, huh? I'm a Catholic, and evangelists weird me out.

I mean, shoot, Christians and Muslims pray to the same God for Christ's sake. Well, maybe that was a poor choice of words. At any rate, I don't see why we can't get along.

The main thing we seem to disagree on is whether or not Jesus was God's son and the savior, but we also disagree with Judaism on that, and we don't seem to have nearly the same problem with them. The main problem is this mix of religion and politics. We are friends with Israel, therefore we have no problem with Judaism. We are or have been enemies with just about every other Middle Eastern country, where Islam is the dominant religion, therefore Islam is the enemy?

Doesn't make sense to me.

Are you seriously trying to rationalize their behavior. :lol They are bigots, there's the rationale.

Wow that's fucking stupid.
But yes, Gaf was quick to politicize this and criticize the right. What else is new from this board?
Not our fault that most of the shit that fucks up this country comes from people who hold those political views.

gonna have to back that one up, son.
unless you somehow just hate latin womenses.

No, no, no, the Latino women here (and other varieties) can be gorgeous. And I appreciate that.

But most everything else sucks. I want to get the hell away from this place.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Eh, I'm just happy for a world to have diverse beliefs (including atheism) without conflicting them to other beliefs.

Tough one to call.

An an Atheist I have more respect for fundamentalists than moderates. I say if you truly believe a book is divine and is the guide to entering heaven then it only makes sense that you should follow every rule to the letter.

Having said that, I can't recall anything in the Bible that said to burn other religious texts so I don't think these people can hide under the umbrella of good old-fashioned fundamentalism.

I don't think 'respect' is the right word . . . you can say the fundamentalists stick to their principles but I bet he would rather hang out with moderates.

It's too fucking hot outside. Every day of the god damn year, it makes people crazy.

The Imam isn't moving the community center. Sorry. The 'pastor' is using it as a way out and just wanted publicity all along.
Donald Trump is offering to buy the site where the community center is supposed to be. It'll be sad if it's moved if for no other reason than it sounded like a positive addition to that area.

If this is true I'm seriously, seriously disappointed. It's a fucking shame the mosque is even being compared to the burning of a Koran, and I can't believe the Iman would even agree to such equivalency.

Although it does show the Iman is a bigger man, but still. Principle.

~Devil Trigger~

In favor of setting Muslim women on fire
LOL, Trump trying to get the Islamic Center 5 FUCKIN Blocks
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

How can educated people NOT feel silly talkin like this?!

If for any reason this Center moves, i'll....fuckin throw something

Several news outlets are now reporting that the Park51 folks say there is no deal with Florida pastor Terry Jones to move the "Ground Zero Mosque" farther away from the World Trade Center site.

We'll have more shortly, but if you listened closely to the Central Florida imam who appeared with Jones at his press conference a short time ago, he only spoke of having arranged a meeting in NYC with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the public face of the Park51 project. The Florida imam didn't mention a deal to move the GZM.

fuck this guy :lol

On Larry King last night I sort of got the impression that he just wants to deescilate the situation in a way that won't enrage parts of the Muslim world. As far as I can tell Imam Rauf is acting in better faith toward our professed interests than the people who oppose him are.
