That said, virtually all newspapers and lawyers recommend not to pay. There's significant doubt about whether it was illegal, how they got the IPs or whether they fooled the judges.

Even if they got the adresses legally, given how companies put their own videos on all sorts of sites it's virtually impossible for a user to know if a stream they're watching is illegal. Law requires however that the user had to know that he was breaking the law.

That's true. Basically everything is illegal now. According to them. I wonder if this will stay in the news or just vanish with the months. Some said they did it before Christmas because people are not in the mood to take care of that matter and rather pay.

Some shit lawyer that doesn't earn enough money works together with some internet gangsters, they get some IP adresses in dubious fashion and start collecting money from people based on uncertain law. All they want is quick money from people stupid/frightened enough to pay instantly.

That shit will get torn apart by proper lawyers.
