Tony Barrett has spoken, if you're going to read one article on Suarez, Barca and Sanchez then let it be this:

TheTimes said:
Barcelona will formalise their attempt to sign Luis Suárez today by opening talks with Liverpool over a proposed move for the controversial striker.

A delegation from the Spanish club will travel to London where they will meet Liverpool officials and inform them of their desire to buy Suárez. It will be the first time the clubs have held negotiations about the 27-year-old’s future and the meeting is taking place at Barcelona’s request.

Ian Ayre, the chief executive, will represent Liverpool at the talks while Barcelona’s delegation will be headed by Raul Sanllehi, their director of football management, who is in charge of transfer negotiations.

Barcelona, who have already prepared a five-year contract that would be worth in excess of €45 million (about £36 million) to Suárez, are believed to be willing to pay £60 million to sign the Uruguayan.

Liverpool believe Suárez is worth in excess of £80 million, particularly after Real Madrid paid £85 million for Gareth Bale last summer, and insist they will not sell unless their valuation is met.

They view the meeting as an opportunity to reaffirm their interest in Alexis Sánchez, whom Barcelona are willing to use as a makeweight in any deal for Suárez, although Juventus are also interested in the Chile winger.

It is highly likely that there will be further discussions after the initial meeting and while Liverpool have been anticipating an official approach from Barcelona they will make it clear to the Catalan club that they will not allow the saga to drag on over the summer.
After fighting off Arsenal’s £40,000,001 bid to sign Suárez last summer, Liverpool are acutely aware of the disruption that can be provoked by prolonged doubts about their star player and are determined to avoid a repeat of that situation, which culminated in Suárez effectively going on strike in an unsuccessful attempt to force a move.

There is a reluctant acceptance, though, that it would take a remarkable effort to retain Suárez against his will, particularly as his suitors are Barcelona, a club that he has held a lifelong ambition to play for, as Damien Comolli, Liverpool’s former director of football, confirmed yesterday.

“Speaking to Luis before, and during, the World Cup, he’s always said he is very happy at Liverpool,” Comolli said. “But during our time together at Anfield he told me that his dream is to play in Spain at one point in his career, especially at Barcelona or Real Madrid.
“His wife’s family live in Spain, he’s in Barcelona every time he gets a couple of days off and has a house there. I’ve always thought in my mind, and I told Kenny Dalglish at the time, that, if either of the big Spanish two came in and tried to get him, Liverpool would have a hard time to try and keep him.”

Suárez’s attempt to convince Barcelona of his worthiness to play for them appears to have had the desired effect after his belated apology for biting Giorgio Chiellini, the Italy defender, was welcomed by Andoni Zubizarreta, an influential director at the club. Zubizarreta, who is believed to have been the most senior member of the Barcelona hierarchy to voice concerns about their pursuit of Suárez, praised the former Ajax player for his show of repentance in a significant move that will now be viewed as the precursor to an official bid.

Barcelona had made it clear to Suárez that they required a public display of contrition after he was banned for four months for his latest biting offence. “Suárez has shown he is humble enough to admit an error, which is very important,” Zubizarreta said. “He has been humble enough to apologise to those he has affected.

“Everyone knows that Luis is an excellent player, everyone knows last season he played in various positions in attack, but everyone also knows that he is a Liverpool player.”
