This goal was so impressive. It perfectly shows why El Ghazi is a very talented winger. There are five defenders between him and Schöne and it's very hard to see where Schöne is from his position. Yet he already knew and perfectly passed the ball for Schöne to tap it in. He didn't even get past the defender, he just let the ball do the work as a certain football legend would say.

I dont think that Madrid team is so unbalanced. Kroos can play a deeper midfield role. Might not be the best on the defensive side of the ball but he isnt a complete slouch either. I could see him playing the role Alonso did quite capably. Modric is a fine box-to-box player. Hamez ahead of them as the AM seems fine to me, he likes to drop deeper and pick the ball up also.
Against better teams they might need to reconfigure a bit but most weeks that team will dominate games and take defences apart. Complete workhorses down the flanks too, Ronaldo excluded obv, but even he knows when it's time to work.

Vermaelen is a top quality CB. He has everything you'd want from a modern defender. The ridiculing he gets on social media has never made much sense

It really worries me that Wenger has said Chambers is our 3rd CB. The kid has looked decent so far, but he ain't the second coming of Nesta. How much experience does he actually have at the position? He got done a few times yesterday, but it is mainly because he is a prospect that it can be glanced over at this time. We have got a great core and are starting to have a solid squad, but this is the type of bonehead Wenger decision that will cost us any real chance of winning the league or CL.
Chambers should be focused on battling for the 2nd RB spot with Bellarin while learning from our CBs in training. We need a real 3rd choice with Miquel as 4th and Chambers possibly 5th choice.

With our current form of defending I'm slightly worried about our game in two weeks. On the other hand you guys defend just as bad and Depay is really the only great attacker you have.
I won't be seeing it live though since I'm at a festival.
