Our defence was surprisingly stable for much of this match, but our midfield was non-existent for at least 2/3 of it, and our finishing was dismal.

I question Rafa's ability to properly tweak anything on this team. I also question his ability to secure a contract extension.

Precisely. The players themselves are good enough to challenge for the scudetto, but the squad as a unit falls so far short repeatedly. Rafa is increasingly becoming the only explanation for this. There's simply no excuse for being 13 back at this point in the season, trailing even a team like Lazio.
