Football Thread 2016/17 & Offseason |OT2| Wenger In Fam! Wenger Out Blud!

It's fucking hilarious how Barca tried doing their usual thing with Veratti earlier in the window and now they end up being the ones mugged off.

Why does he wear the mask!?
PES outdated already. They'll have to change their cover and Neymar will be at Barca until their October patch

I suppose this works out well for most other key Barca and probably Real Madrid players, they'll be getting nice new contracts so the clubs can bump up their buy out clauses.

I still don't have PSG in Top 3 teams to win the Champions League.

My top 3 teams to win CL:

1. Real Madrid
2. Real Madrid
3. Real Madrid

Nobody can stop the best team in the world, especially not Barcelona now that they lost Neymar lol.

Football has become a shitshow in big part thanks to private investors becoming club owners. This deal is the best example.

Barcelona deserve some shit for their own behaviour, but that's another story of its own.

As a Bayern fan (already a fully commercialised club), development of world football makes me want to stop watching altogether. In just a few years only the biggest 2-3 clubs who are financed in "the old way" (which doesn't mean it's perfect or entirely fair) will be able to compete and all the other clubs up there will be ones which are owned by some billionaire or company. That's not a real competition, it's about which club has the richest fan willing to buy them to become his hobby.

Barca beat them without Neymar last time though. Granted, it was a close match with a last minute winner.

The bubble will burst eventually. Always does.

I wonder how Barça will be affected (or not) by this. Neymar saved quite a few games last season (including the one against PSG, even if the ref gave them a big hand). Don't think they have anyone that can be consistently decent to replace him. Messi and Suarez will have to do double the work now, which given their already (and still!!) short bench, isn't good news for their season...

Go watch non-league shit that's what it's already like or just ignore the money and watch quality football. I stopped caring about the figures a long time ago, its none of my concern. 10 million, 100 million, or 1 billion the figures are stupid. I just want to be entertained and see the best talent. But I do love seeing clubs like City, PSG, and Leipzig fuck with the old money clubs and want more clubs to start fucking with them. Shame UEFA shut the door.

Making rankings about the CL in august is kinda pointless, that said,as of right now i definitely see psg in the top 4.

Honestly, I think Neymar has been pushing Messi for second best player in the world [behind Cristiano] over the last 18 months. Neymar is going to absolutely tear most of those Ligue 1 defenders to shreds. I can legit see double-figure scorelines coming.

I think Barca's best bet is to strengthen the midfield so that Messi doesn't have to come so deep.

I have no idea what the plan is with their midfield, with players like Denis Suárez, Arda Turan, Rafinha, André Gomes, and the left-wing, with players like Paco Alcácer, Gerard Deulofeu and Munir.

I expect them to be spending most of the Neymar fee on these areas.

Happy for him, fuck Guardiola, he had a chance to mold this kid into becoming one of the deadliest strikers in the premier league.

Did you see him play last season? Great player & he should mould well in a more direct side with a good support striker. He clearly didn't fit into the system, & looked uncomfortable to boot. Static at times. He certainly wasn't on course to usurp Agüero or Jesus at least.

Basically this.

We have no idea how good anyone is right now, much less so how good they will be in January.

And having Madrid as favorites is downright silly. No team had ever won 2 in a row in this format before last season and you expect us to win 3 in a row?

A bit too optimistic imo.

We will.

We might win the champions all years for good now.

I reckon there's at least another step or two before we reach the bubble bursting. Possibly something like streaming matches via a subscription, and then a break away European super league between the richest clubs.
