Football Thread 2017/18 |OT2| Fractured but Ox

Our locker room is one of the toughest to manage.

But our players did love Carlo though.

We've reached comedy levels : Hertha loses in Sweden, Köln at home against a Serbian team. Now Hoffenheim are traing a Bulgarian team.

Man, Werder, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart and Schalke must be really shit if Hertha, Hoffenheim and fucking FC Koln are in the Europa League.

Unless they spend like £75M in the winter to get Alaba, this was probably one of the worst City players to get injured (besides Kompany but he already spend 75% of the time injured) because they don't have a quality sub for that position and not because Mendy is their best player (I do love his offensive and defensive ability and his crossing is superb...)

For any other position they have someone almost as good in the bench, but left back they don't. They will probably try to ride it out with Danilo, but while it will be enough for continue domination in the Premier League, the Champions League is a complete different beast.

How has Danilo been this season? Not watched him much and not sure how much he has played but will be a good opportunity for him to stake a claim for the position.

Sad for Mendy though, cruciate injuries suck, hopefully he'll be able to recover well

They'll probably just spend 50 odd million and get someone in January.

lol Everton

What the hell is going on with them?
Koeman basically spent 150 milliion or so quid and don't look the better for it. I see him getting the boot if they don't win their next few games.

The situation reminds me a little of LvG at United. Stubbornly sticking to his philosophy, utter reluctance to change tactics and fitting too many square pegs into round holes (and then theres also the utter insanity of trying to shoehorn Rooney into every starting lineup).

Best player would be a massive stretch considering he is still very much learning the system and has been lacking in the defensive capabilities in the games he had played. Your statement may be true once he gets a good run as how quick he fixed errors from game to game was extremely impressive, plus he has a great attitude which is always good to watch.

The left wingback position will likely get rotated. Delph was very impressive against Shakhtar and his stats backed that up despite what the tabloids wrote, he obviously lacked the pace and crossing that Mendy provides but his interceptions and tackling were far better. He also did a much better job of leading the man than what Mendy has shown. Between Danilo and Delph the left side defensively looks ok against 90% of teams, the bigger problem is the width that Mendy created which caused a huge amount of problems for teams that play a low tight block. Sané however is starting to hit form so he could run that especially looking at the crosses he has provided for assists.

Need another left back anyway though.

FFS- News out that Aguero was in a car accident and has a fractured rib. Can't believe City's shit luck heading into the Chelsea game. We have no back up striker now and no backup fullbacks. What could go wrong?

I love that your main concern is about the next game rather than the player's wellbeing.

Well damn. Thankfully its only a fractured rib he will be back in about 4 weeks. Could have been so much worse.

I got a taxi a few months back to take me to the airport in the early hours and the guy fell asleep at the wheel three times. Even had to grab the wheel once myself to keep on the road.

What? After the first time you tell him to get his shit together and then report him.

Falling asleep at the wheel is no joke.

I did do. I ended up driving the rest of the way.

Apparently it's one of the biggest problems with uber, you get a lot of people who end up doing 48hr shifts over holidays and events because they make most money doing that. They are fine doing short trips but once they hit longer journeys they crash. Wouldn't be surprised if its the same with all taxi drivers.

Bundeslolga.
Most overrated league in Europe.
Pretty embarrassing.

How is it overrated? Even when they were 2nd in the ratings, nobody put them above La Liga or EPL. Even then they got far less exposure or money (hell Ligue 1 and Serie A have been killing them during this time). You need to have someone hype them up to use the word. What a weird term.

Saying that, pathetic representation this year. Getting passed by two countries in a year and another making a ton of head way is beyond embarrassing.

Bild put names to the 5 Bayern players that were against Carlo: Ribéry, Hummels, Boateng, Müller and Robben
Bild GUESSES 5 names of the players most Bayern fans figured out. Unless Hoeness or Rummenigge leaked this, they're making shit up.

God bless regarding Aguerro. Very happy to see he came out of it allright considering...

lol somehow missed the 75M for Alaba in the winter post. Lawd have merc. :D

You should really start getting a sense for how Germans see themselves and their football.
Even our media mocks the "kick and rush" play in EPL or Serie A with their mob business. Ligue 1 is still considered as 3rd world. General tone is that we are still the best league behind La Liga, when in reality we only won 3 international club titles in the last 20 years... Even Portugal won more. We have a serious tactical problem as well as lacking talent on club level. In other countries it's a blessing to play in Europe, while in Bundesliga the clubs are happy to get out as soon as they can...

And no, Hoeness explicitly mentioned Coman and the four other players that were not in the starting line up in Paris.
"But the fact that the coach, in my opinion, brought again five important players against him - Coman, too, was too much to get through ," said Hoeneß, adding,"As a coach you can not have your most prominent players as opponents."

No way, Coman is a huge WTF lol. He literally started two games in a row, why was he mad? :S I knew it made no sense that he didn't start vs PSG, this explains it. And jeez, Uli is such a dickhead to actually mention his name to the media. Is there a bigger attention whore in Germany than him? ffs...

Ok, yes German media is a bit condescending, but I don't remember where you get this "glad to be out of Europe" bit from? I think talent is ok atm, coaching/tactics on the other hand has been as backwards for too long. It's like watching Klinsi coach 5/7 teams every single year in Europe. And dude have you read other medias? All the top 4 leagues have that kind of idealistic mentality of their country, doesn't mean much.
