Bristol are weird man

*Bristol City

You wouldn't call Manchester United or Manchester City just "Manchester" would you?

(I realise this is incredibly pedantic but I can't ever let it slide XD Then again maybe it's just an indication that people forget that Bristol Rovers exist so that's cool with me)

I’m starting to believe the hype about this Guardiola guy. Seems to know what he’s doing.

Yeah they played well yesterday - we looked a yard short and I think Conte got his selection wrong.

We caused City problems when Morata was on, and then when we had Pedro/Bats/Willian up top in the closing stages.

I'm very surprised he didn't rotate a little from the midweek game - we put a LOT of running in vs a very good Athletico side and then almost the same 11 are asked to do the exact same thing against another very good team.

I'm surprised he started Azpi at RWB - as quality as he is he doesn't offer as much going forward as Moses/Zappacosta - and he doesn't have the physical presence of the former either.

It also meant that if we wanted to hit City on the break we only had Hazard and Morata with any pace in the team - rather than Moses/Hazard/Willian/Morata or Pedro.

Still, City played well, looked after the ball well and created a few good chances.

Lacazette looks like just an above average striker with just above average skills.

4 goals in 6 starts? Also got unlucky with that stoke goal, as well as smashing the post in the opening minutes of this game. Add that to Wenger subbing him off at 75 minutes everygame...

Looking forward to the match against Liverpool. I don't expect to get anything out of this game but I always get hyped for games against the reds.

It's just a shame we're not at the level we were in 1996, otherwise it could be a cracking game.

Conte looked to go after the ball over the top to a target man which is City's weakness whilst maintaining a solid and dense defence which was superb and they prevented City from having many clean chances. If Conte went with pace that would have played into City's hands as City are very comfortable leading players and will then counter attack faster than every other team in the league and be on goal in two passes this would have forced Chelsea to play a high intensity game throughout which after the mid week game would have been a bad idea and going from how most of the chelsea players were moving after the good spell towards the end of half time could have resulted in far worse performance. I think Conte got it right as it was good technically and tactical game but Morata getting injured ruined that, he knew Michy couldn't do the job and tried to prevent City having such an easy time in midfield which was where he got it wrong as it just made it easier for them but he didn't really have many choices and playing Pedro could have resulted in a similar result to what happened to Morata.

Always a good match regardless. I fancy Rafa to pull one out of the hat against us.

Barcelona - Las Palmas might not happen today. Barca wants to postpone the match, but the spanish Federation have not agreed yet.

I don't know how you go from losing one derby 4-2 and looking absolutely shot to shit, to winning another 3-0 a week later that could have been 6 or 7.

Only good thing Rovers ever did was sell us Lambert

Or Lukaku's goalscoring papered over the cracks the last couple of season. Cracks they've failed to adress really.
Quite a few people were saying when Lukaku signed for united that he wasn't that good and that he only scored in games where Everton didn't need the goal.

Frankly, Everton have lost Lukaku and gained Rooney. It's shocking business.

In fairness I was one of those critics of Lukaku.

Not talking about goalscoring capabilities. Inzaghi was below average yet he was such a goal machine.

Just watched a lil and your defence is so bad

it's starts with Lewandowski that diva and robben constantly crying when they lose the ball and inherently refusing to run back and defend.
alaba is just not even at bundesliga level right now. he really should get benched for rafinha. tolisso is the worst midfielder I've seen in a bayern jersey not named sanches.

Rumenigge threw kroos out and said to him he's not world class just because he wanted more money. instead we paid 80m+ for sances and tolisso

fuck me

Tuchel is an arsehole and a fraud too, huh? I agree based on what I've seen of him.

He had some really good on the influence on the team and certainly left his mark and had his sucess with the cup, but he got more than a couple of problems.

He banned the headscout (who is the one that found people like Lewandowski,Kagawa,Hummels and many more gems) from the training facilities, half of the team hated him towards the end, the entire managment from CEO, sport director and the entire board didn't like him. The majority of the club just couldn't work with him and that includes even lower positions within the club. He just wasn't a personality that worked here and people in Mainz said the same.
He never gave a fuck about the fans unless he used them to paint a good picture of himself.

Weird tactical experiments and weird team selections that cost us valuable points.

His assistant coaches weren't liked either, especially the fitness coach was despised.
It's a professional football club and not some Murican boot camp where you let players crawl over the field...
