Football Thread 2017/18 |OT2| Fractured but Ox

Honestly, the club is more at fault. Why appoint him?

Again: you hire an Ajax-bred coach, then you give him a Sam Allardyce squad and ask for good football, then sack him after four games?

And again, the club and De Boer was in agreement (De Boer said this in public) that a complete overhaul of the playing style shouldn't and wouldn't be done overnight, but in a long term. And De Boer then promplty changed it overnight, fitting pegs in square holes in terms of team selection. He fucked up.

Yes, they shouldn't have appointed him in the first place, but they needed to act now.

Ah, then fuck him. He seems such a weird manager? Like Rodgers and Sherwood blended together.

considering the amount of differences between each managers situation and other complex factors, comparisons like this are fun to look at but ultimately pointless

for one, brendan didn't get the sack because of his first two years, the awful third season is what killed him. klopp has by no means been perfect but its felt like an upward trajectory since he joined.

He isn't good enough, but thinks he is better then he is. So tries out shit thinking he knows best. Instead of trying to keep stuff simple.

Agreed. While the comparison is fun for people who want to have a go at Klopp. I don't think it's a necessarily correct comparison. Klopp has done a lot of things right and we're definitely on the right path going forward.

I'm an Ajax supporter and maybe the championships covered a lot of flaws.

He got pretty heavy critics the seasons he did not win the title. And I gotta admit the football was bad and I very often didn't understand his tactics.

Yep. I watch a lot of your games and go to a few a season as my cousin lives there. The atmosphere when De Boer was there, wasn't great.

I agree. I don't like how he was only given 4 games, but the guy shouldn't have had 4 games in the first place, but man you don't want to get Roy.

I like how Simon Jordon slags off Parish...

I pretty much likes nothing with Simon Jordan. He has no class, no style, and he has a pretty big history of fuck ups himself.

When he talks he's the person who still brags about how he sacked Trevor Francis on his birthday, and when you look at how he ran the club, he might have saved it from administration, but then put it did there again himself.

Simon Jordan can f*ck off.

It is important to remember here that Ederson did in fact get kicked in the head, was stretchered from the pitch in considerable pain and then received several stitches.

Remember all that as you read what Tony Gale said on Sky Sports News on Monday morning.

“Interesting the reaction from the keeper…down for five minutes. Tom Heaton at the weekend dislocated his shoulder and he’s waving to the crowd. Tom…proper man.”
Nobody gets injured quite like a Brit.

Liar, Liar
But move over, Tony Gale; make way for Chris Sutton’s opinion from the Daily Mail:

‘ANY professional footballer, or former footballer who says he thinks Sadio Mane deserved a red card is a liar.’
That’s right. If you have a different opinion to Chris Sutton, you are a liar, because Chris Sutton knows what you actually believe better than you know yourself.

He’s looking at you Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher. Liars.

Some Rumours is saying that Juventus is going to start Sturaro as winger against Barcelona............when Juventus had a 40 million winger they just bought this transfer market.....and Sturaro is Defensive Midfielder..........Kill me.

Lolol.O_O U guys need a new top management to douse all the breakdown lol.

other Bayern fan is trolling with that statement lol.. as am I with that gif.

As for the Carlo leaving in january rumor, it was started by Bassler and it sounds honestly too idiotic to take seriously. Even if Carlo were to leave in January, it wouldn't be unless the team straight up tanks for 3-4 months (and I mean tanks, not 3 losses until Dec). Also if Carlo made a deal to leave in January, he would have notified the club and they would have gotten a different coach this summer so he would be used to the team by the time the CL KO rounds begin. FC Hollywoody fuckery always comes back, but that kind of thing doesn't seem likely and practically impossible.

FA executives to face parliamentary inquiry over Aluko case
Senior Football Association executives will face a parliamentary inquiry over the investigations into England women boss Mark Sampson's alleged "bullying and harassment" of Eniola Aluko.

Striker Aluko and ex-England midfielder Lianne Sanderson have also been invited to give evidence.

A select committee hearing is planned for mid-October.

Sampson, 34, was cleared of wrongdoing by two investigations and vehemently denies the allegations.

Aluko, who plays for Chelsea Ladies, has not added to her 102 England caps since making her allegations as part of an FA inquiry into its management culture in 2016.

The 30-year-old accused Sampson of making a "racist comment" about her family, and said she suffered "victimisation as a result of me reporting discrimination".

Sacking someone after five games is utterly stupid and appointing Hodgson is Palace admitting that they have no aspirations beyond survival. Pathetic.

Pray for Bilic.

Also, shame Tony Gale embarrassed himself like that. Always liked him. Or his style at least. Never actually listened to what he had to say.

Why even appeal the mane red card. What a waste of time. How can we contest the red when he needed stitches and was stretchered off. What's the line of thinking here?

I guess they don't necessarily disagree with the red card. But they wanna lower the punishment(3 games) of a red card in this situation.

It's pointless. The FA will want to make an example of him and will probably extend it. Then again, is there a set ban length for this? There are some red card offences that don't carry a 3 match ban

it's a bit silly that he ends up with a three game ban when it was an accident. That's the same punishment as Arnautovic who elbowed someone in the face on purpose or Britos who fly kicked a guy in the knee

Brenton had one of the best players in the world too. No one at the club currently is close to what Suarez was/is.

Didn't Liverpool finish outside the top-5 in Suarez' first three seasons there? So he obviously wasn't able to carry them on his own. I'd say that Rodgers created a system to get the best out of him, together with Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling.

I think the main takeaway is that Rogers isn't as bad as people make him out to be. He did nearly win the title after all.

Rodgers had 3 full LFC seasons. The first one was a bit Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The first half was pretty poor, but then he bought Sturridge and Coutinho in the January window and we have a really good spring and that obviously carried over to 13/14 when we were so close to winning the PL. Then 14/15 was a mess and Klopp had to start rebuilding.

12/13 - 7th
13/14- 2nd
14/15 - 6th
15/16 - Sacked in October.
