Football Thread |OT10| A Street Ass Named Premier

Take a second to think about where Arsenal would be now without Abramovich and Mansour. No Abramovich, Chelsea were in dire financial straits in spite of a decent finish under Ranieri. Would probably have been forced to sell Lampard and their other best players. Wenger spots a muscular high scoring player called Drogba who plays in Ligue 1. Using his french connections he persuades him to come to Arsenal and also an unhappy Makelele recently tured out at Real Madrid. Makelele takes over Viera's role in the Arsenal team, albeit in a more cerebral fashion. With Drogba and Henry combining Arsenal win the title and spend the next 5 years vying with Man United for titles. Whilst Man U still win more often than Arsenal, they still pick up a couple of EPL titles, the FA cup and finally win the Champions League.

Arsene spending 25mil on a player? Our record signing is still the 15 million Arshavin, this club really seems to operate in a realm of it's own sometimes. But maybe we would if only it looked like we were about to miss out on the 4th place trophy spot, like we did with signing Arshavin. Still doubtful as we'll see this January window.

Reading scored. 1-0 to them against Spurs.
West ham also 1-0 up.

I put Lloris in for Cech hoping Reading wouldn't score. -.-

Arsenal wouldn't have needed to spend that kind of money. Abramovich inflated the transfer market out of all proportion. Only other team who might have spent that much money on a not yet fully proven Ligue 1 player at that time would be Madrid, but they weren't that keen.

"What Chelsea offered was the double that of Juventus' offer," he said. "We could not let such an offer go"

Marseille president at the time...

Yaya chips through for Aguero who catches it on the half volley and it skims the crossbar! City getting closer, they've started brightly.

How the heck did we manage to barely draw against Villa? Sometimes it's like Arsenal makes it their mission to give a morale boost tho shit teams, expecting to cock it up against Southampton today as well.
