I like the character. I like how you equip the nails and all that. The constant quiping is rightly drawing criticism tho. Aloy just says bland stuff and it's already enough to drive you crazy after 40 hours. In this, Frey is saying some truly crappy fellow kids lines. I also have a feeling they will not respond to the criticism and blame it on consumers. Hopefully not, but that's a popular move these days.

I'm sure there's more to it but this game really seems like a misguided attempt to appeal to "the west" based on a weekend worth of research done on Twitter.
It has everything "the west" wants, from the open world, to the badass female protagonist, to the Marvel style writing with characters that never shut up and are always throwing around quips

I'm officially rooting for this game out of guilt. I'm thinking of the people working on it and seeing it get laughed at. But I'm laughing, too. Ha. I hope forspoken can pull a rabbit out a hat and be good. Maybe it's because all these poor showings have definitely crossed a threshold where it's going to effect the game's reception and sales and that would be a nightmare to watch unfold.

If you load up my horizon save right now, you'd find that the voice volume is zero. Yes. I'd rather read the dialog than hear 'ill save this for later" one more time. I know that's not for everyone but I read dialog for a long time and it's fine. Not having my trance interrupted by my aloy's thinking aloud is worth it. It's a pretty good game, after all. But that's how annoying these lengthy and repetitive random sound effects can be.

This type of dialogue narration where it tries to emulate teenage talk is endemic in all forms of media; the problem is is that they all sound the same - like they were written by the same exact person. The fact that this game is being meme'd the way it is shows how creatively bankrupt the writing truly is. I feel like I hear this type of narration in so many tv shows, games, and YA novels. It's so fucking cringe and lacks originality.
