Okay, Im really overwhelmed. I have a bunch of schematics for weapons, but I don't know when I have the time to actually get the materials for them. They really want us to do this during a match? I feel like I have to get all the stuff for our FORT - and focusing on the match. And dont have the time to go find the specific material that is needed to build weapons.

If you Retire a hero, you get back 90% of its total XP. So you technically invest little when upgrading heroes unless you evolve them, as you don't get back any Pure Drops of Rain or any other materials consumed for evolution.

In addition to what Wallach said about retiring them, you can put heroes along with their XP into your collection book.

Hero/item XP counts toward the collection book level. You can add it after the fact as well.

Thanks for the info

You can hit the map for at least a day, in game time, before worrying about the objective. You'll get plenty of resources to build defenses, which you really don't need a lot of for the early maps. If you're playing with 3 other people, you might not have to contribute much if anything to the defense structures.

Are V bucks not shared across platform or something? I had 800 on my PC an hour ago but I just logged in on PS4 and it only says 220. I've not spent any either since I was saving for the next 1k pack with a legendary.

In the early game, people can solo the missions easily, so if you're off farming, it doesn't really matter.

And if you want to farm but short on time, you can go into a mission, gather materials and quit out. You'll keep whatever you picked up.

I think I fucked up on the Collection Book, I slotted in extra schematics of Weapons that I had dupes of

Then everything was blinking so I just slotted stuff in

Then I read, you can't take them out

So some powerful schematics are now with me but not in Collection

Mostly common, a ton of uncommons, a few rates
Didn't slot in any Epic or Legendaries

Well, lol, that's what I get for getting Rewards greedy, got book up to Level 15 already.

Time to remember all this stuff.

I'm enjoying the game, but my team and I can't surpass Loot level 3 Chest when we finish the missions

I get those bars climb for resource gathering, combat, and building

We always hit Gold in one or two
Yet someone will always start the mission way too quickly fucking us over
Seriously I'm gathering filling up the bar, building shit all over the place, grabbing as many survivors and hidden chests possible as Soldier, yet some ransoms wants to drop Blu Goo and start mission ASAP

Are level 5-6 loot chests possible in the early missions? I don't really understand the criteria honestly.

I see the bars go up to Platinum

I've resources gathered to Gold, combat Gold, building to Silver and got Bronze and got close to hitting level 4

I can build walls, ramps, other shenanigans to fill those bars
Gather materials to stock up again
See teammates just slowly browsing or taking their sweet ass time

My friends and I got Plat Construction and Utility, and Gold Combat, Building Limit Medal, and the Exploration Medal, and still only got to level 5.

Nope they aren't. Don't know why.

Same thing as Paragon

On PS4 side Sony gets a cut from Coins for Paragon and VBucks for Fortnite

On PC you go through Epic launcher so they get 100% for both
If you buy something on one both do share it, but Coins/VBucks are separate from each platform

I've spent 14 hours playing the last few days. I haven't been this hooked on a game in a while. Simply farming for mats and building each mission hasn't gotten boring yet. I've been playing mainly assassin, so I haven't touched the other heroes yet. First skill tree is almost filled and I've expanded the storm shield 3 times.

The Play with Others option is so worthless for me. Ever since I unlocked the ability to see level 40 missions, that's all it puts me in. It takes my best weapons a full clip to kill normal husks. Why does it think this is a reasonable thing for me to be doing?

It does need to be tuned. It seems to only work correctly when your at the top of the area tier.

Seems a lot of people have issues with the bees and how tanking classes just don't have sustain abilities. Honestly they should nerf the way the beehive husk work like the bees should either immediately die when the husk dies, or the husk has one swarm that either sticks to him as a defense or he sends out as a projectlie and doesn't leave a trail. If they don't want to do that remove the hurling gas female husk, its just too much zone control when fighting mobs at close quarters.

Yeah the bees are a complete nightmare as that unit alone can take an entire area for long periods even when dead. Skull throwers only bother me when they hide far away behind things and nuke the base in a few hits.

I don't think the Pro patch is out yet, I only have a regular console so I can't answer that.
There are Founder schematics that you can get now, that won't be available late, not sure what other bonuses for Early Access.
You can play with Randoms, it will be needed for higher levels unless you have enough friends to help you. A mic isn't necessary, there's the in game text chat if you need something.

Is it just schematics? Are they worth the $40?

Vaguely interested in this but have a few questions:

How is it on PS4 pro?
when buying the standard edition, will there be an advantage when the game goes f2p?
Is it ok to play with randoms? Do I need a mic or can you cooperate without it?

Thanks

No pro patch yet but Epic has stated pro version will run PCs Epic version with some tweaks at 4k native/30 FPS with a 25% better Draw Distance then standard PS4.

Source

"With Fortnite, which is now available in paid early access before going free-to-play next year, PS4 Pro owners will only find 1080p visuals. However, as Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe’s Matthew Groizard adds, “the team have poured the extra power of PS4 Pro into dialing up the bells and whistles for a greatly improved overall visual presentation.”

Going through the list, Fortnite on PS4 Pro gets light shafts, screen-space subsurface scattering, a four-fold increase in volumetric lighting resolution, higher quality ambient occlusion, higher quality reflections, a doubled particle spawn rate, improved motion blur, a 25% increase in draw distance, and the temporal anti-aliasing (which smooths out jagged edges and improves the clarity of detail) “has an additional feature called ‘dynamic anti-ghosting’, which cleverly improves image quality around rapidly moving objects.” You’ll also find a performance boost thanks to PS4 Pro, “giving a more consistent overall gameplay experience.”

And the 4k/30 source!

"In an interview by GamingBolt with Zak Phelps, producer of Fortnite, talked on the subject regarding its graphic performance on PC, Xbox One X, and PS4 Pro.

In that sense, the creative producer revealed that, as expected, the graphic performance of Fortnite on PC will depend on the capabilities of the hardware of the user, but with regard to PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, he revealed the following: “Resolution and frame rate is all dependent on your PC and what you can run. PS4 Pro, Xbox X, it’s going to look really good in 4K. We’re going to allow the resolutions that we can support and frame rate at 30 frames per second”.

Keen Eyes has pretty much just been carrying me through this game.

I have abandoned my Outlanders when I have developed a six sense for where are chest. They are always in the same places, so if you learn these places, you don't need a outlander.

Like, in garages, these redbox toolbox always have something. House roofts. etc

Then theres the sound cue.

I now play a soldier class that have infinite grenades and a super that let him fire a heavy machine gun for 6 seconds withouth eating ammo. Is great.

Anyway playing Outlander has help me learn what places are the ones with loot.

Kind of disheartening to see you guys complaining about stuff that for balance issues or annoyances, (Like constant ammo problems) that was constantly being complained about to epic during the Alpha 9+ months ago when I was playing the alpha non-stop and about all I can tell is they threw in some more stuff to fluff it up without fixing pathing complaints and AI etc

What time is it?
they should lower the ammo crafting cost, that is why I love my ninja

Ninja and my love for base building has had me at max ammo for ages. I throw away stacks of nuts and bolts all the time to make bag space. I also couldn't live without the double jump. I'm not sure how useful the outlander really is. Locating chests is pretty easy with the sound cues.

yup, I ditched my outlander a long time ago when I figured out where the chests are usually are, they probably should buff the outlander, I don't see him useful in high level play

The spot the loot thing is okay but it's not even on all outlanders. Though I have heard some people say outlander could use some small buffs.

I prefer ninja because of double jump and highest movement speed in general. The dragon blade is icing on top. I think shuriken could actually be buffed some, it seems a little weak. Otherwise the perfect class for me. Landing headshots during double jumps is fun. Melee is surpsingly fun too, but I still use my shotgun-sniper the most.

So I have many many heroes through llamas, is there anything I can do with them? I assume the best way to play is to stick to one hero of each type?

Same question for weapon schematics - is there any benefit to keeping the tabs full of heroes and weapons I'm never going to use?

Just had a guy ninja stealing chests from me.

I was outlander and he was a Ninja. The guy followed me around and every time i tried to get to a high point with a platform etc he would jump up there quickly and open the chest and leave a 'lol' in the chat...

It pissed me off so much that i started the horde early without any base defence and quit out, leaving a 'Enjoy the L!' message.

Yeah shit like this ruins the game.

I was talking to a friend and he had a good idea that I agree w/ - loot should be shared among everybody in the current match. Fortnite is suppose to be this team-based we're all in this together to survive type game. Instead everyone is running around gathering their ownr resources, their own chests, like an everybody for themselves and only come together at the end. Having loot shared would only make more sense. It feels shitty when I play as a outlander and I'm running around scooping up chests other people can barely see or take 10x longer to get to.

With shared loot you would

- Emphasize team play
- Outlander would be a specialized role and instead wouldn't be selfish in only benefiting the person playing it
- Less chance of being an "ass" ie stealing chests etc.

Not sure how a shared loot system would work, but def would be better then the current system. just an idea tho

How do I change weapons? I think I got some decent stuff from loot boxes/quest rewards but I have no idea how to actually equip things.

Chests should just drop a gift package for everyone like the other side activities. Perhaps a small bonus for the one who finds it.
