I'd like to crop the center maggot and make an avatar out of that.

Also, aside from the tips in the OP, is there anything else I should know about avatars when it comes to GAF? Stuff like picture format, hosting sites, etc.? I tried looking in the TOS, but I couldn't find much beyond size limits and that they have to be worksafe.

Avatars are hosted on Gaf so no need to worry about hosting. For images in general imgur and minus are the most popular I think. PNG/jpeg are the usuall image formats for avatar, png is usually best.

I usually try to come up with one word to identify the image that I haven't used before, often based on my first reaction or first thing I'm drawn to...
