I'm sure this has been answered before, but I can't find the information and have been looking for 20 minutes.
I have a PNG that has transparency when viewed in any image viewer, but when I upload it to NeoGaf as my avatar, it fills in the transparency with white.
How do I keep the transparency?

And do it in the time-honoured NBA-GAF style with an outline in the team's colour:
