So, FM5
should be the next game from Turn 10 and i'd like to start some suggestions and wishlists for their next game. Probably too late for anything but i'm going to post them regardless.
The ideas and suggestions may be dumb, not doable or downright rubbish but whatever. It's what i'd like to see..
Long ass post incoming..
-UPGRADES-
*True cockpit stripouts(Steering wheel changes, seat upgrades, custom mounted gauges, dash upgrades) as seen in NFS SHIFT.
*The ability to pick and choose components rather than "stage 1", "stage 2"..etc packages.
*More individual parts to choose from.
*Visible front mount Intercoolers and Oil Coolers.
*The ability to choose more than 3 turbo or supercharger options. The ability to choose turbo compressor size and supercharger pulley size.
*The ability to manually custom mod carburettor with jet sizing and powervalves..etc.
*Proper wide drag wheels and tyres or 'tubs' in the rear. Proper skinny tires or "cheesecutters" for the front.
*Transbrakes for drag racing.
*Nitrous Oxide upgrades.
*Perhaps a "build your own motor" mode using generic sized blocks.
*Blowers and superchargers poking through the bonnet.
-TUNING-
*The ability to manually re-programme the ECU/Engine Management System for injected motors.
*The ability to manually tune the carburettor, re-graph the distributor and tune the timing for carburettor motors.
*Boost controllers.
*A fully fledged working Dynamometer(dyno) and the ability to tune on the fly as seen in NFS Underground 2.
*A proper detailed dyno graph.
*The ability to tune individual corner suspensions.
-CUSTOMIZATION-
*Wide body kits and wheel arch flares.
*The ability to add stickers on windows.
*Choosing exhaust tip sizes.
*A better choice of kits and spoilers.
*More old school wheels.
*Actual manufacturer markings on tires as seen in NFS SHIFT.
*More paint options, (two tone, marble, candy, matte, pearlecent..etc)
*Basically, I want to see car culture in a big way.
-AUDIO-
*Preferably, exhaust note changes depending on upgrades as heard in FM2. A hard task to accomplish with the amount of cars so I wouldn't be disappointed with an enhanced DSP system that can include pitch changes.
*Exhaust sputtering, crackling. Better rumble and pop sounds.
*Gearbox/engine oscillation/judder when changing gears in auto/auto manual mode. The gearbox should jolt when accelerator is depressed or when backing off from higher revs.
*Imperfect shifting effetcs for stock or production cars with minimal mods, then better shifts when fully upgraded.
Add a neutral gear in between shifts as seen in GTR or rfactor.
*Enhanced cockpit resonance. A full blown race car or a production car turned race car, should sound menacing in the cabin.
*REAL automatic shifts when in automatic shift mode.
*Gearbox shifting effects should change depending on gearbox. Sequential boxes should 'bang' into gears.
*Louder BOV and wastegate chatter.Proper gearbox whine with pitching effects dependant on revs.Louder turbo spooling and s/charger whine.
*Enhanced reverb and doppler.
*There should be a more instant response to throttle depression especially in higher loads.. As it stands now, there's too much of a delay each time I rev the car. Take a look at other games including NFS, GTR 2, Rfactor..etc to see the difference.
-GAMEPLAY ADDITIONS-
*There should be a better drag racing mode based on reality. This includes, real staging sequences, proper working trees, the ability to lift the car or 'wheelie' from
acceleration. The chassis should twist and turn depending on torque and horsepower. The crowds need to be bigger and perhaps an announcer of some sort. Really make it
a true drag race meet atmosphere.
*There should be a better, dedicated drifting mode for the drifters. Just copy the D1 events and you should be fine. Make it a spectacle.
*How about objective based racing scenarios. Kind of like what EA did with the Fight Night series. As an example, create a situation where you need to catch
up in the final lap from far behind. Obviously, you can come up with very interesting and varied scenarios.
*The track surfaces really need to reflect reality. More bumps, cracks, undulation, anomalies..etc for a better real life experience.
*Dynamic time of day and weather for a varied racing experience. Or, at least a wet surface of sorts if rain isn't doable.
*Debris, sand, dirt, rubber marbles on the track for unexpected surface change.
*The track day/motorsport racing atmosphere really needs to be recreated in FM. I'm talking track marshalls, grid girls, tv crews, pit crews, big crowds, rubbish and debris
on track side and grand stands, banners and flags, helicopters overhead, sponsors and advertising..etc. At the moment, FM feels lifeless and boring. Needs excitement.
*Immersion is very important. I need to feel like i'm a racing car driver. I would like to see better hand/wheel animations, driver reacting to crashes, period style
clothing, a little more craziness in the cockpit, perhaps even some radio chatter.
*Let us know which cars came with aids such as ABS,TC,SM..etc. I mean, driving a Ford Pinto with ABS,TC,SM..etc isn't authentic so there should be an
indicator of sorts letting players know this.
*How about using filters to simulate time period races as seen on TV. Use a black and white filter for the 50's cars, then washed out/basic colour filters for the 60's,
and whatever the 70's and 80's looked like. It would be a unique feature.
*The racing itself needs to be more authentic. AI should behave more like a real life driver rather than, well...AI. There should be more rubbing and overtaking,
more aggression from the drivers.I want to sweat and work hard for my win. I want heart pumping action as seen in NFS SHIFT.
*Damage should be enhanced to include crumpled panels, broken glass, hanging panels, overheating engines, blown turbos and tires, oil and water leaks, blown motors..etc.
I would like to see a more realistic rolling of cars as seen in NFS SHIFT.
*I would like to see penalties for bad upgrade and tuning applications. I mean, adding 1000 horsepower to the motor without a transmission, clutch, flywheel, differential
..etc upgrades should make the car hardly move. The clutch will just slip and boxes, axles, diffs would break. this needs to be implemented for a simulation game.
NFS SHIFT has this feature and works very well.
*Vehicle degradation and maintenance.
*The ability to actually see my car modifications take place in real time. We already see that now with wheels, suspension but it would be nice to see this happening
to the engine and driveline as well. So, opening the hood to see turbos, manifolds, superchargers, ignition system,headers..etc being swapped out. Then, turning the
car over to see diff, sway bars, exhaust systems, trans, tailshaft etc..mods being swapped out as well.
*"BUILD YOUR OWN ENGINE" mode using generic engine blocks. A 4,6,8,10 or 12 cylinder block with the ability to build the motor from scratch. There's a program/game
called "Automation Game" that let's you design a car and engine from scratch. Here's link:

*Turbo lag needs to be simulated much better. I really want to feel the lag then the rush of power thereafter.
*Torque needs to be simulated better. After adding a stroker kit for example, my dyno torque and power curves don't really change shape. Other mods should alter the shape
of the curves and not only for it just to go up.
OTHER-
*A proper, dedicated garage for your cars. The ability to service the cars in your dedicated garage(change plugs,leads,filters,oils..etc) after a race and to detail the
cars(washing,waxing.etc) for photomode.
*The ability to test drive a car before buying would be a great addition as seen in Gran Turismo series.
*A biography of not only the manufacturers in the game, but also of all the cars and tracks as well. This will no doubt increase awareness and appreciation for any
given track or car. It would also be amazing if the biographies were audio based instead of text, a sort of interactive experience as it were.
*A more detailed description of the vehicles specs such as wheelbase, track, suspension type, type of gearbox, differential ratios, compression ratio, if it's
carburettor or injection, wheel and tyre information..etc.
*Perhaps add a 'manager/agent or mechanic to guide you through the game as seen in the Toca series.
*A visual or audio tutorial system describing the upgrades and tuning options in the game. This will be aimed at the beginner but would also benefit the veteran.
*Perhaps bigger fanfare before each race. I'm going to partake in a meet so I want it to feel important, and exciting. So instead of, "today, you are going to
Laguna seca", you include a TV style hype up for the race describing the track, the cars involved in the race and perhaps, even some sort of on track rivalry or
a 'who to watch out for' type of scenario.
*I would love to see a historical mode of sorts detailing interesting information on legendary drivers, tracks, cars, events in history, firsts in automotive technology,
and other facts and tid bits. Create an appreciation for the automotive world.
*Offer more, bigger, better incentives for winning races. How about 'unique upgrades' or 'unique custom parts' for not only winning a race but winning by a big margin.
Maybe even some sort of 'museum cards' as seen in Gran Turismo.
*Make acquiring, unlocking or winning cars a more interactive or celebrated affair as seen in Gran Turismo.
