Forza Horizon Launching in September (Based on Leaked Hot Wheels)

Cat GIF by Justin

I'm in.

How is this indicating that there is a new game in September? All it says is a new Hotwheels Forza branded toy series is being released.

And a desert backdrop being linked to "Mexico" seems like a big, big stretch.

I still think either the Horizon games need a complete structural redesign or they need to make a third Forza series that keeps the open world setting but focuses more on having an actual career.
NFS Underground 2 like.
starting with cheap cars, slowly modifying and upgrading them, buying higher tier cars as you get more money, and higher tier cars allow you to compete in higher tier races etc.

Horizon became too much of a "do what ever you want" playground, and therefore also less and less of an actual racing game.
you can legit just buy a Ferrari 599XX, tune that thing up to the limit and win every race easily even on the hardest difficulty settings. and it's not hard to get a car like that, that go as fast as 450 km/h and from 0-100 in 2sec... yes they are expensive but you can farm money super fast and the AI has no chance against these

Forza with open world, a focus on a smaller but therefore even more customizable pool of cars (let's say 150 cars instead of the usual 500+) and a career that actually brings back the challenge and an actual sense of progression is something a lot of people would love I bet.

I barely bother with the super cars because theyre boring. WHat's great about the series is you could progress through the whole game using only B class cars if you felt like it.

yeah sure, but that's the issue IMO. you HAVE to limit yourself in order to have any challenge left in the game for the most part. there is no sense of progression as cars unlock by the dozens every day if you want to, and every race just automatically adjusts to your car.

I feel like there is space for a type of racing game that actually is like some kind of Racing RPG almost.

Most likely the reveal will be at E3 with a subsequent fall release, as has been the case with every Forza Horizon game to date.

Can't wait. I still play Horizon 4 on occasion but after two and a half years the UK map is getting a bit too familiar.

Never bought super cars in the beginning. Always sticked with b tier cars and felt more challenging.

Motorsport ain't coming this year. Rumors that they're making it from scratch so it takes longer.
Unless they are playing silly buggers with the alpha testing, FM could be a 2022 game so we could get it within a year of each other but yeah, if mvcspiderman meant 2021 then that ain't happening

Hmmm...

...Hot Wheels Unleashed releases September 27. They're going to release two Hot Wheels racing games in the same month?

...Also, every Forza Horzion DLC special has been its own brand so far. FH1 had no big names in the DLC, but FH2 was the Fast & Furious bonus game, FH3 was Hot Wheels, then FH4 was LEGO. I get that Forza Horizon Hot Wheels was the big winner (when Hot Wheels Unleashed was announced, some people flipped thinking it was somehow a Forza product) but would they really go back to the well in 5 instead of doing something novel again? (I'm not really sure what the profit-sharing method on those DLC is but I would also bet Mattel would be a little more demanding if you came back to them for another deal after FH3.)

It's a weird thing to leak, or to launch this far after FH3 (and after FH4 went with a competitor,) but it's not making easy sense for me even though I'm assuming the car is a real and new toy.

To be fair, there have already been rumours that Horizon 4 is set for this year. We should know when E3 coverage starts.

Nice, I wanna see a what racing games will look on these new consoles. I guess it won't be a native Series X/S version* but I wanna see what dat raytracing goodness bring to that version of the game

*native in the aspect that it was built from ground up and exclusively to

Amen brother. I'm still playing FH4 at the moment and the cars I use are like a who's who of The Fast and the Furious :messenger_tears_of_joy: Skyline, Sylvia, Evo, Impreza, Civic - the Honda NSX is the most explosive car I use.

I was skeptical about Mexico but after the last thread I'm looking forward to it, there could be some amazing landscapes. FH4 ended up my favorite game of last gen, it's peak comfy to just drive around the map with a personal playlist doing challenges.

Great news! FH is by far and away MS's best games, so I'm all for it. It was the main reason I got gamepass in the first place tbh.

Let's hope it's true, an Horizon 5 would be a great option for MS to don't have Halo alone as big exclusive for this year.

Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport 8 in the same year?

Tasty.
I highly doubt Motorsport 8 gets released before late 2022 or maybe even 2023, it's supposed to be next gen only. A crossgen Forza makes more sense for 2021.

But will it be a next gen game?
If released before late 2022 pretty likely will be crossgen. Or at least it was what MS planned at Series X|S release.

You are overthinking it.. I don't play Horizon to "easily win". Remember that the "do whatever you want" part includes picking cars and settings to tailor for a good time and a challenge. The game is highly customizable and chock full of choices, we don't need to be forced to "not cheat", everything you need to have a good time in the game is right there in front of your nose.

Anyway, I can't wait..

why does that matter? what's the potential for a next gen only FH that would not be possible on Xbox One at lower settings?
That's on the dev team to show us. I am pretty sure they could do a lot from a technical standpoint if the game was built from the ground up with next gen hardware.

But we both know that's probably no going to happen. It's crazy that the series x barely has any native first party games and it's even crazier that some of you think that's ok.

I would not be surprised if this was just a expansion for Forza Horizon 4 because if it's not a next gen game why would they make a brand new game right now instead of just a expansion?

with Forza moving to a new engine I thought Horizon wasn't going to come until after the next mainline one?

unless Horizon 5 will still be using the old engine & then we'll have to wait for Horizon 6 for the series to move over to the new engine (that's first arriving with Motorsport 8)?

The speculation is FH5 is cross gen and running an improved engine from FH4, while FM8 is a brand new engine (like FM5 back in the days) but current gen only.

Which to me is fine but hasn't been confirmed yet, just a few more weeks.

There's even a rumor motorsport is running on One because apparently in the insider playtest it runs an Xbox one app. Unclear on what's being tested though.

I think this is definitely coming this year, and I can't wait.

Hard to imagine what they can do to improve on it though - FH4 is game of the last gen for me. So much to do. Play your own way. Totally disagree with the earlier poster calling for it to be more forced and structured - I love just picking it up for an hour and messing around in that beautiful engine…

If I had one thing, come up with a way to vary the music more - you play this game so long that all the stations end up super repetitive…

quick reminder that this game will come out on PC as well ;) limiting it to Series X|S only would literally do nothing. it would be an artificial limitation not a Hardware bound limitation.

therefore it would be an anti consumer move to force people to buy new hardware even tho the game will easily run on the hardware, even be it with way worse graphics and only at 30fps maybe.

there's literally nothing a next gen only Forza could bring to the table that an Xbox One Forza couldn't. and as long as you can't come up with a good reason as to why it should be only on next gen, but instead ramble about "where are the next gen games?", you just come across as ignorant and childish.

a next gen only Forza Horizon will not magically be better, it surely would be a game that could push people into buying a new console, but that's about it.

the game can't be optimised for SSDs only because they can't yet release an SSD only PC game without facing backlash.

the game can't be optimised for ~RTX2070 GPU performance because the vast majority of PC gamers have more like a GTX1070 or GTX1660 grade GPU. (1060, 1050ti, 1650 and 1050 being basically the most used cards at the moment, meaning the average PC user is at best on Xbox One X levels of GPU performance)

it also can't be optimised for a Ryzen 3600 grade CPU because the majority of PC users still use CPUs with 4 threads

so I'm asking again, how would this benefit the game in any way? it will not magically look better on SX if it will not release on Xbox One, it will not magically run better or load faster or have magical new features.
the game HAS to run on a quad core, no SMT CPU, 8GB of system RAM, a GTX1060 and on a HDD, because it will release on PC and these are the specs they need to target

having a playground where you can do whatever surely has its qualities and there's fun to be had (I played all the Horizon games a lot after all) but I feel that I am getting tired of it and that making my own challenge is getting just old...

customizing your car basically lost all its excitement because you basically have an unlimited budget for example.

nowadays the most time I spend in Horizon 4 is making cool new paint jobs for new car releases... like when they brought in the Toyota AE86 I tried to make a cool and unique yet classic looking livery... I barely spent time actually driving the car tho.

I just feel there's space for another type of Forza game, the engine is there, the developer manpower is there, and it would being a breath of fresh air to the series, because I feel it can become a situation where the general audience also will get tired of the current Horizon formula
