great job che! PLEASE say there's a walkable garage ala pgr in f3, that would complete the game for me. :)

I asked Che a few months ago to tell the team to bring back what I like to call the "sense of ownership garage ala Forza 1" and not just a list of cars or cars floating in blue space.:lol
We have very much addressed this. I think you'll like what you see when we talk in more detail about it in the coming days.

This is all I have to say:

"Forza 3! I hope the career mode is heavily revamped... I never would have finished it without hired driver help. #xboxe3"

Looks stunning. I can't wait.

why is everyone all excited that this is 60 fps? It's a racing game...60 fps should be standard, lol.

Also, while the graphics look nice, there's something about it that just doesn't look right from the GT trailer I saw. Maybe it's the flashyness? How the car paint kept reflecting?

Still can't hold candle to GT5:p though. Playing a GT5:p video featuring the Audi R8, and F3 R8, and you realize GT5:p is in a league of its own.

Oh WOW!!!...Cockpit view!!!...even if the majority of people didn't care about cockpit view I was praying for it to be included. And amazing work on the graphics, still not as spectacular as other games but a tremendous improvement.

I'm very happy :)

"Play Your Way with All-New Game Modes
"Forza Motorsport 3" is an epic racing game featuring more content and more ways to play than any racing title today. An innovative single-player season mode puts you through a completely personalized racing calendar that includes more than 200 different events, including Circuit, Oval, Drag, Drift and Timed Events. No two calendars are the same; they react to the cars you love and the races you enjoy most."

Sounds promising.

Promising? That bit of info just totally made me jump onto the Forza 3 hype train. That is exactly what I want.

edit: Damn, this puts a kibosh to my plans to get a steering wheel for my PS3.

Since the cars can roll over, does this mean we can see cars flying like Carl Edwards at Talladega a few weeks back?

Hell, put Talladega in, either on the disc or as DLC. Please?

yo - people are going to be playing this in a couple of weeks

Xbox and Audi also announced they will host an exciting and exceptionally unique AXF-24 Audi-Forza Challenge, which will take place June 13-14 at the Audi Forum in New York City. Xbox has selected nine of its top North American Forza competitors as determined by rankings on Xbox Live to converge on New York to compete in a 24-hour endurance competition in “Forza Motorsport 3” running concurrent to the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France.

That doesn't sound fun at all. This game needs fun tracks like Spa Francorchamps.

They had a tri-oval in F2 already. It wasn't Talladega, but it was a similar setup. I have no problem with them including one or two oval tracks, especially if they include infield tracks like they did with the one in F2.

Was Forza 2 30 FPS?, I don't see why people are surprised about 60 FPS since this is a racing game.

Anyways I'm very pleased with what I see, I'm going to enjoy this game very much I'm sure!!!!

Forza 2 was 60fps. I think the surprise is that the graphics have taken such a leap forward without sacrificing the 60fps framerate.

IIRC, Forza 2 was 60fps.

First off: JIZZED IN MY PANTS! FORZA 3 LOOKS AWESOME!

So 2 out of the 3 main problems I had with Forza 2 have been addressed. These problems caused me to quit playing sooner than I would have liked as I could not for the life of me stay immersed in the game. Even with the outstanding game play and livery editor I quickly became bored and frustrated.

Problem 1 Fixed: Graphics

Something about Forza 2's graphics really bothered me. It just didn't look right and honestly wasn't very impressive imo. Based off this new footage of Forza 3 they have made a huge leap compared to FM2 and I'm just simply blown away. Props to Turn 10!

Problem 2 Fixed: No in-car view in FM2

Well I'll be damned FM3 has an in-car view! That was totally not expected and I have to take my hate off to Turn 10 for provided this lovely feature. Despite some peoples opinions at least it is now an option for those who do use it. After playing PGR solely from the in-car view racing games just didn't feel the same after, except say Burnout cause in-car would not work in a game like that.

Problem 3 will reserve judgment until later date: Career mode

FM2's career mode simply put sucked IMO. And although they have stated in a quote from a few posts back that they have revamped the career mode I will reserve judgment until I see it first hand. Hopefully it ends up being well thought out and makes you want to keep progressing through the game.

And a side note to Turn 10....

As far as the in-car view goes it LOOKS great, but my only concern is will it FEEL great. PGR imo did in-car view right. Some games like TDU and Dirt just didn' feel right to me for some reason. Please don't nail a camera to a board and call it good. PGR's in-car camera seemed to be affected by inertia. When you slowed down or slammed on the brakes the camera would zoom in a little just like your head would move forward in real life from the inertia. So the visuals are there, just please make it feel right!

Man, thats gotta be one of the biggest visual turn arounds this gen (from a sequel pov). And viva cockpit! Looks fantastic. Could do without the "definitive" nonsense but I suppose thats what E3 is for. ;) Now about those Logitech drivers...

Exactly what I was thinking. Amazing work graphic/feature wise Turn10!

And Che do you know if it was a replay or if the dude was playing it live? Cause I'm pretty sure I'm seeing motion blur. Motion blur + 60fps ? A dream come true?

I noticed that too. I think FM2 had realtime in-game motion blur applied to the road itself but not on the BG. But when I look at the vid the entire track has MB and the cars do too. Also, the music stops when he crashes. So I'm thinking it's a replay. But it's set up with the pre-race screen and apparently someone is playing it. If they did get motion blur and 60fps that would be unbelievable.

I LOVE how the car pulls up to the starting grid just as the race starts. It's those little elements of polish that make good games great.

a little ot, but since the OT is closed, I thought this thread may be appropriate.

Wouldn't it be cool if the government provided all the funding for proper crash-test safety standard regulations for any new start up American car makers (namely Telsa)?

Fuck GM

just my two cents

Good point. I believe someone else also mentioned this in regards to the camera/"head" not moving around when the car flipped.

A detail that shouldn't be missed.

T10 is really checking off all the elements that held F2 back from being truly great. So refreshing.

360 seems to be really hitting it's stride graphically. Developers getting to their 2nd and 3rd attempts on the hardware. No longer cutting teeth. It took awhile, but the results are oh so sweet.

And then ODST just pooped over all of that. What a shame.

Forza here definitely looks good, though.

It was just "meh" graphically. Similar to the schizophrenically beautiful/ugly Halo 3.

Bungie can get away with providing awesome gameplay and (sometimes) meh graphics. It's just how they roll.

Im not sure Ill ever use the cockpit cam but can that discussion please die?

Now its gonna be, "Its not done well enough".

Cant wait to hear about the tracks!

Come on AA, all these games today and you're still sporting that frown? Not excited at all?

roll over was to show how badass physics engine is

I loved everything in the presentation except this. What's the deal with rolling the car over if there's no damage associated? I mean, the guy kept running afterwards and didn't even had a dent on the roof.

Couple of things would have made the crash awesome:

1 - The Ford GT should break the concrete barrier and fall of the track
2 - The player would receive a DNF for the crash and would have to restart/re-enter the race.

That's a good use of having flipping cars. Flipping just for the sake of flipping, with no consequences at all, is just dumb. They worked so hard to get the manufactors to approve that, so i hope they have a better use for it in the final game.

Just my 2 cents after reading your post and after listening to what David and Garnett said on Listen up.

I'm totally excited about some of the games, but the one sure thing turned out to be the least interesting of the bunch. It's hard to stomach.

It would cost the government a fraction of the GM bailout to do that and it would accelerate a new promising company.

I thought the first part of the ODST presentation looked a lot better than the section on the bridge. I want to see it in HD though, no HD G4 here.
