Returning to a discussion in the thread a while ago about the clutch implementation on the Fanatec wheel in Forza...

It's definitely progressive / variable, i.e. clutch isn't just on / off, you can control it exactly how you would in a normal car and it reacts accordingly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXwyXeJlcyw#t=7m32s

Excellent news for those of us with one on order. On / off clutch would have been shit. :D
The MS wheel looks like a Fisher Price toy in comparison.

Clutch implementation in both the Fanatec wheel and Forza 3 is awesome.

After playing the demo I'm glad I bought NFS Shift instead. I found it underwhelming. The in car view in Shift was just the thing I needed to get right into it, and I'm not really fellin' it with Forza.

Some dude mentioned earlier that the rewind controls weren't accurate or something like that; I felt that way too. You press rewind and sometimes it doesn't do it, and you press A to go and it sometimes doesn't do that either.

Why aren't MS jumping on the bandwagon and releasing their own wheel/pedals with clutch and gear shifter? There is a hell of a price gap in the market now, not to mention with regards to quality as well.

Great.
I read a couple reviews by guys who just received their beta units, and they sound stellar. Too bad there has been another 2 weeks delay and i won't be receiving my wheel until november : \

Also, might sound like a stupid question, but it's not possible to buy G25 pedals only anywhere, right ? I hear those are somewhere between fanatec regulars and clubsport edition.

Also, need good pics of the C4, dammit : \

I looked around quite a bit, and no... not that I've been able to see. The only real chance is grabbing some on ebay when someone upgrades to something like the clubsports or one of the professional sets of pedals.

Supposedly they've refined the standard pedals a bit now though, so there's a chance they're better than they were.

Man I'm really considering getting that playseat che posted I have the MS wheel I can use for now and then maybe later I can switch over to the fanatec. I like using the wheel its just I have no comfortable way to use it atm. Is there a cheaper version without forza 3 packed in? I could always trade that one in and keep my LE.

The vid that Fanatec put up that you first linked to pretty much confirmed that. Weren't you paying attention? ;)

Thomas posted a video explaining a few new little features that were added as a result of the delay as well as fully demonstrating how the clutch works within the Forza 3 Demo.

He actually shows a clutch launch first. He compares it to a standard non-clutch dump. HUGE difference in speed and control and you can actually hear the difference as the engine bogs down as the clutch is feathered -- Mastering the Clutch Launch looks like it'll be a MUST for the Drag guys. He also compares a run with shifting without clutch and shifting with clutch to demonstrate the speed and smoothness differences.

He also demonstrates the anti-lock brake pedal vibration -- fully adjustable from the wheel itself.

And he demonstrates "drift mode", which is basically a super-boosted power steering mode that PC drifters have requested. This can also be turned on 'on the fly' from the wheel itself.

That would be a no... because I didn't hear anything. =/

I need things spelt out for me in nice, easy to understand terms... and then demonstrated appropriately. :lol

y'all should be ashamed
Well I finally got my hands on the demo today. I'll post more impressions in the demo thread but...this is a really great game! After playing the Shift demo (UGH) it just makes me appreciate Forza that much more. What a jump from F2 though...I only played the demo of that one, but F3 has got tons more style.

I'm also seeing reports that the H-shifter makes a loud clicking noise if you attempt to shift into a gear without using the clutch, sort of a "gear grind" noise equivalent. Nice touch if true.

Nice Livery video. Finally some Livery shots. Been waiting for that for so, so long.

I wonder how those livery cars will look racing though. F2's liveried cars dropped quite consistently in quality when racing.

Did you see what happens to that flying lizard porsche decals in the demo ? cars textures res is very low ingame and during replays. Might be even lower than fm2 : \

Oh well, Forza 4 at launch with x720 !

I just ripped a hole in my pants :lol The quality of the vector shapes while editing is fantastic. God its going to be so awesome not having to deal with the top of a mini cooper anymore. lol

I can understand the lack of hi res decals/vinyls and models during in game sessions.
But whats the reason given for the limited effects in replays?

They should have gone all out for replays, Having the high detail showroom cars in them would have looked spectacular.

No Diggity. I haven't been on the demo in a few days, I'm sure i've dropped a few thousand spots in each race type; gotta hop back on tonight to save some face.

Indeed. Wonder if it's reviewer and friends/family only.

It's mostly green discs for folks on Forzamotorsport.net forums and a handful of folks here at NeoGAF.

Can't wait to see what people start creating with photos, liveries, replays, etc. :D

Aight, cool.

Another question, I just read an old post of you from 21th September, saying you were gonna do a podcast the week after detailing the storefront, auction house, livery editor and careermode some more. Any clue when that's coming?

Next week, when Dan G. gets back from his 3 week Euro tour o' doom.

He might actually start speaking with a Brit/Spanish/German/French accent.

Whoa, i guess this weekend for the f3 livery thread wont be too early after all :O

Will you be separating it for type of livery? Meaning a separate section for old school racing liveries, one for new upcoming games, actors/actresses, etc?

I was just watching this Track Guide for Camino Viejo : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwgjUGbprs8

...and it would be good, were it not for the fact that he invalidates his time just after the second corner in the first example lap. :lol

(I'm being overly critical though, everything he says in the vid is valid, even if he can't quite pull it together in his quick lap)

Agreed, driving was off in that video, but we're going to use him to do track guides for all tracks in the game and host it on FM.net... except we're going to find other folks to do the actual driving. :lol

You're getting a green disc right? I mean you pretty much have to with all the awesome stuff you created livery wise :).

Good luck man, looking forward to your designs :).

It's a good idea, he definitely has the voice for it.

For the actual drivers, I suggest avoiding the superhuman nutters that take otherwise unusuable lines through the corners to get times a couple of seconds faster than everyone else. :D

It'll probably be Landin. But with the storefront and the ability to grab the replays people put on their storefronts, it can be any of the MVPs we've sent green discs to so far.

Get daveyskills to reveal his secrets.

In the final game, you can watch replays off the top 100 scoreboard times AND race their ghosts. So I guess you can see how daveyskills does it. And export that video for all to see. :D
