I'm game for this, I could talk for hours about how much I love PGR2. No, really, I could talk about the same stuff in PGR games and PGR2 forever.

I also feel bad helping derail Forza 4 discussion here, I just hold the franchise way too close to my heart.

To fuse the PGR talk with the Forza talk:
If Forza were to reinvent its tracks like each iteration of PGR did, I wouldn't complain about the track selection anymore. In fact I doubt anybody would.

Except PGR3 which was a bit lacking in the regard after the superior PGR2, they all offered so much variety and memorable tracks in the same environments, it's quite impressive. Especially considering that they not only drove well in a variety of ways, but also that they still look awesomely great as even the PGR2 Sydney picture shows.

Please do. I'm playing it right now because I've been reading so much about it lately here.
Like a 'GAF replays PGR4' thread.

I'd prefer a "MSR&PGR-series appreciation thread"

Ok guys I'll get a thread setup.

Any suggestions?
I started making a thread already, but if you'd like to take helm, that'd be cool too. :p

I made sure to include MSR, essential to the beginnings of PGR.

I'm hoping that this rumoured Forza World is actually a codename for a new pgr game.
Maybe the next pgr will be released as an entry in forza franchise because it's a far more recognisable brand anyway.
sorry.... :p

Make sure to include reasons why people who haven't played yet should play (PGR4 I mean, which is the best one to play in 2011 probably). Kind of like a OT, but smaller.

I think there's an argument to be made why even PGR2 and MSR are still must plays to this day.
MSR for it's real-time-timezone feature and awesome implementation of the soundtrack as a really real feeling AM/FM station.
PGR2 for the sheer awesomeness that it was, the best tracks, THE online game and perhaps the best online racing game of all times. *sighmemories*

I don't mind, could do it jointly perhaps?

Don't forget photos....PGR3/4 took photo-mode to a whole new level imho with its focus on realistic city backdrops. And justifiably so, given the amount of detail they've put into recreating all those locales (I still remember those comparisons with real-life shots back in 2005! Jaws were dropped)

Oh man there's gonna be some bile spewed about halving the frame rate from PGR to PGR2...
People forget PGR was 60fps.

60fps replays as well.

Anyone notice that in MSR and PGR1 you can see the brake pads moving when you hit the brake button? I have no idea why the went that far in terms of detail. Crazy.

I just feel PGR4 (which is better than PGR3 right? Haven't played but the demo) is the best option because it's current gen and bla bla, etc. Feel free to tell people of MSR and PGR/2 though, it's a all-PGRs and MSR thread as far as I know. I only played PGR4 :(

I have always stated this and still believe it to this day.

And that's not only talking about how career mode was implemented but the actual online play was fast and furious and fun.

No, you are right, PGR4 is definitely the one to start with, but the prior entries all do have their special allure aside from the different cities. (With the exception of PGR3).

If you guys have suggestions for or specific things you think would be important to highlight for the PGR thread, PM me! (or Xun).

Also this Forza thing is pretty cool, huh?

wat forza who

(it's better to have 1 page of off-topic so we finally decide to have an own topic than continously random off-topic every 2 pages)

There is no Forza, never has been. IBL was all a conspiracy to sell more copies of PGR4. Dan isn't even a real person. He's CGI.

I thought there already was one?

Playing it now, it's hard to believe that PGR4 was released FOUR YEARS AGO. It still blows away most 30fps console racers that are being released, taking into account the weather effects.

ALL

PGR4 is king.

Just didn't want to seem *too* biased ;)

Anyway, to tide us over until the official PGR series revisit thread, Project Gotham Racing 4 - Photo Thread.

I don't think a more consistently good looking racing game has ever seen the light of day. 4 years old, and it hasn't aged a day.

I was never able to give PGR4's photomode the love and attention it deserved. It is without question one of the greatest failings of my entire life.

Getting all misty-eyed reading that thread. I'm going to go home tonight and attempt some awesome pics in preparation for the new thread. Maybe even play with 3 as well (that admittedly, I rushed through).

Edit: I think I've seen that pic before. No Maple Valley would suck (was great for photo mode) and even though I've noticed this before, love how they've COMPLETELY left off Australia.

Only 23 locations :(

Ah but wait... I think Forza 3 was like 19 locations but for example Camino Viejo had the old road track and then inside it a race track which was named differently and counted s +1 in the location selection.

So maybe we'll have 30 tracks with their variations.

Oh and Nurburgring has 2 too, the GP circuit and the Nordschleife or however you spell that one, they each were their own location too.

Edit: Right, those could be day-1 DLC for every buyer. I hope they include the test track at least with the big oval.

Assuming the map is accurate, Nurburgring being one location bodes very well for having the 24-hour circuit in the game.

I just watched a lap of the real world Infineon... that track seems like it will be a ton of fun. I love the layout and up and downs.
Will they include the NASCAR layout, too, for the stock cars?

Maybe that's what Forza World was all about...putting the PGR maps in Forza. Sell it as a seperate game or something.

Maybe have synergy with FM4 so you can take your tunes and liveries and garage and use them in Forza World.

We're all asking for more tracks but there's only so much disc space. Seperate titles would make more sense.
