I love hearing the FNC anchors parrot eachother over the grilling Condi got a couple days ago. Edy Hill this morning on Fox and Friends was asking every guest they had on that morning basically if this kind of "disrespect" for a nominee was "normal." She was being really emphatic about it, too, in that "how dare they" kind of manner. Hey, Edy, ever hear of something called Checks and Balances? Maybe some of those congresspeople have forgotten what it means, too. Why should nominees not be questioned HARD about their job? Its supposed to be a test and evaluation of their ability to complete the job, not an ass-kissing formality.
OK, so Boxer and Biden, et al came off as being *slightly* petty, but that doesn't mean that the criticism wasn't warranted and I think everybody on the foreign relations committee should've posed similar questions instead of lobbing softballs. I think people are losing focus overall, though. These positions are JOBS. The people in them do not have a right to them, they are not pariahs, they are not royalty. Its been said time and time again that the president and much of his staff would've been booted out by now for all the mistakes they've made if they were employees in any real sort of company.
Anyway, my point is that nobody should get a free ride just because of who they are or where they came from. Their ability to DO their jobs is what is in question here.
Oh yeah, I just remembered how Edy Hill also questioned why Boxer used "rhetoric" instead of "facts" to present her argument. Oh, so those charts and transcripts she used to validate Condi's quotes weren't "facts?" Please, Edy, get a dictionary. While you're looking up the definition, you might want to check out what "fair" and "balanced" mean, too.
