Tom Cruise looks so damn cool in that picture. I did get that Tom Cruise vibe when I was looking at the screens.

Sponsored by Oakley right?

The game looks so-so in most pictures, could easily have been on Xbox. But this shot looks really, really good:

I don't like the way this game looks or plays (going by the video's i've seen) but i'm still interested on the count of it being a next gen. title :)

This game is just incredibly inconsistent modeling. Blame it on the developers, but surprisingly enough, they hit more notes than a lot of others so it's hard to completely bash em. Check it out though.

fc05.jpg

The face modeling is actually very good. Skin looks good, lips are glossy and real, eyes look good.. Then we get a shitty plastic wig. Then to boot, check out the shitty tree in the backround, the skewed looking geometry, and the lack of a consistent light source. The whole look is pretty lifeless. So you get some good some bad. Incredible work put into the cleavage though. Why waste time on hair when you got cleavage to model.

fc11.jpg

Check out the texturing on the main character's suit. Also characters in the backround naturally acting out whatever. Decent cityscape. Not bad. The weak.. ground textures, the tendency of jaggy polygons(completely the fault of developers now, hardware's all there), Insane hair for a black man, and the coat on the black guy. Also, those glasses just are not physically on tom cruise. They don't lay on his nose right, the light isn't reflected the same off the character and glasses.. they look like an extra a 7 year old would have thrown on his create-a-wrestler in WWF No Mercy. Also, the characters are all stiff in their interaction. They don't exist. Some of the better games next gen will certainly fix that. Kojima for one..

fc14.jpg

Ok, the good, really good actually. The character's texture. Light shining on the suit, the completely natural look of it, the shadows on him.. The bad? The wall texture! How does something that finely detailed look laying on a blurry wall like that? Like a beautiful thumb, on a sore hand. And overall the design is pretty generic, uninspired. Map, gun selection, etc. But I mean, you can't expect more really from this game but it could be fun.

Probably the 2 best shots. Good environment textures, character models, lighting, decent trees. Though the ground is just a massive blur in the 1st. But anyway, it's coming along. They're showing impressive aspects at least, within an inconsistent package.

The only place you see shades like those is Texas. And usually they come bundled with a wifebeater shirt, not a suit.

It looks terrible.

I could understand if it was a game from Namco Hometek, but with the Japanese text it looks like a game from Namco Japan, sad.

Terrible compared to what?

Some of you guys are so demanding and critical when it comes to graphics, it's ridiculous. Those screenshots are well beyond anything I've seen in a free-roaming console game this gen. It's running on hardware that's less expensive than a high-end graphics card, let alone a high-end gaming PC. Yet despite this, people will still complain that a title like this looks 'terrible'. WTF did you honestly expect in one generation, a jump from Xbox-quality graphics to visuals indistinguishable from your favorite movies and TV shows? People really need to start scaling back their expectations to something approaching reality. :p

tHE problems i see with the game are the ones j2 COOL mentioned... some stuff look great while other things in the same screen look like utter pos. what the...

Whatever idiotic standards a fanboy who never intended on purchasing the system in the first place holds them to. Dude, he's a troll. that's all he does in any of these threads. While it's amusing to see him fling his feces like he does in every fucking one of these threads, it's hardly anything approaching intelligent discourse anymore. Oh shit! WFV's dissapointed in a game for a system he's never going to buy! What's the GAF coming to! :lol

Trolling? Not on my part pal, I could go on a troll fest but I don't want to get banned.

How anyone can say this could easily be done on Xbox is beyond me:

If you compare the shots with GTA San Andreas they certainly look good. But GTA SA was as we all know built on the PS2 and the graphical improvements on the xbox aren't that dramatic.... Compare it with Riddick or some other good looking game on the box and I say it's quite unimpressive.

There is a quite big difference of scope between FCK and Riddick. I agree that FCK could certainly look much better, but Riddick was mostly about small-ish rooms and closed environments, not so for FCK.

Right. People tend to "forget" this is an open-ended GTA-like game: it's all about wide open and fully populated cities, and such graphics for a game of this kind is really, really good.

That's true. But don't you think GTA could have looked better if it were built from the ground up on xbox? I think it could. But it's true that Riddick is set in closed environments which make it easier to produce top-notch graphics without stuttering frame rates.

Whats with all the fog in the market place, and why is Link ... oops wrong thread.
fog? Well people must be selling hot food! Ever been to a market, people needs to eat mang!

DCX

They still have dev time to refine some of the textures and mapping issues that you see in those shots. Hopefully they do just that.

Looks uneven. That marketplace shot is awesome, but then I see Tom Cruise standing in front of a building and I think some sneaky bastard has thrown some Xbox 1 shots into the mix.

Personally, I agree with a most here- this game looks OK. As for the wall textures though, isn't it possible that they just don't have all of their art assets in place yet?

I expected a lot more out of Namco than this garbage. Characters kind of look like my daughter's barbie dolls.

Some of you are idiots. These graphics are bloody amazing considering it's an open ended GTA type game.

But are they bloody amazing considering it's a next gen game? We won't know that til we start to see more next gen games...

I expect this type of graphics for all open ended games next gen. I'd love to be proved wrong tho (if the graphics get better, not worse).

It has been nice so far to see steady improvement from each batch of new shots to the next. And seeing what they've got going now, she should look pretty damned pretty in-game...

What's with the fucked up helmet hair? Surely we can do better than this...nice tits though.

I think it's hair gel, I mean even tom cruise's hair didn't "flow" in collateral...

Personally I think it's a good demonstration of next gen graphics in terms of technology, what we see their can't be done easily on current gen consoles ).

Lighting and material shaders are much-improved. That girl's top actually looks like leather. :) Environments could still use some work though. And I hope they use more variety for the crowded streets, instead of just using the same characters over and over. At least pallete swap some of it. PEACE.

This is actually one of the best looking games coming to 360 now but I find it kinda weird that Resident Evil 4 can have better hair models. GTA clones will be all the rave next-gen for sure though.

Embarressing!

Won't be touching this one at all.

Shenmue looked more impressive, and that's a 4/5 year old game on last gen hardware.

You must have the downloaded patched texture replaced version of Shenmue.

Link?

Some of you people are tragic.

This is an open ended game not some hallway shooter.

nitpicker_gaf_cybamerc.jpg
Indeed, sometimes I doubt some of the people here use any logic before they post. Nitpicking on character detail when:
- Everyone in the whole city is of that detail and they still look better than these 5-6 people on screen max that feature in the current gen game(s) they're comparing it to.
-It's a free roaming city, not a few 20' x 20' rooms stringed together.

GTA type games are getting boring

1. Run toward the icon on your map to get a mission

2. Complete mission

3. Repeat

Yeah cause you never have to head towards objectives/destinations in other genres....

Then again, if that's all you do in free roaming games you're missing 80% of the experience.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm pretty hyped for this game. I think it's in part that it's a launch game that doesn't fall in the standard FPS/Racing/Sports genres that are done to death at launches.

Anyone who defends this garbage has some SERIOUSLY low standards. I've come to expect it from 360 apologists.

You must be from the future then. Because no intelligent person would call a game garbage before they've played it or at least read some reviews.
