Free anime on Windows store for PC, Xbox owners

Not working for me here in en-GB land. Launches Film & TV whatever app and then nopes out. Shows also don't turn up in my library.

Was gonna' watch S;G on Netflix anyway, but this would have been cool.

Just switch Region to US, "buy" and it's in your library forever, even after you switch back.

Not working on my browser but I'm in the UK so I kinda expected that. If I changed my region to US on my Xbone and then tried to watch would that work?
Huh, just discovered that Stein's Gate is apparently on Netflix Canada. What's it about?
Difficult to explain without giving away basically the second half of the show. It starts out with Okabe and his two friends (ditzy childhood friend, major Otaku hacka) discovering their microwave is a time machine. Naturally they run experiments, things happen and the story gets darker and deeper the further you go in.

The main problem is that it starts off slow. You'll think it's more slice of life, time travel hijinks than it really is to begin with. Keep with it and you'll find something really special.

Arigatou gozaimasu OP-sama!

My girlfriend and I both loved The Devil is a Part Timer. Awesome fucking show!

Worked for me in the UK. The Windows Store app didn't load up the page but I was able to "buy" both via my browser while logged into my normal Microsoft account.

Looking at my account right now and it shows the two transactions, funnily enough in dollars right alongside all my previous purchases in £.

So is this download-to-own forever? Temporary? I imagine there's some DRM attached.

In any case, I guess it's another reason for me to upgrade my HTPC to Windows 10. I still wanna play the Stens;Gate VN before I watch the anime, but I'll keep the anime until then.

He was asking people that aren't fanboys of the show or anime if the show was good. it was a person trying to get an unbiased opinion.
sooo.. how do you tell who is a fanboy and who has an unbiased opinion? Maybe it's actually a good show and people liked it?

What does unbiased opinion even mean in this context? Or in general?

I don't know what "unbiased" opinion means in this context. If you've watched the show, you either like it or you don't, and so you're automatically "biased".

15 years ago, Steins Gate was called Serial Experiments Lain and it was actually good.

popular stuff sucks especially if there's anything older you can compare it to

and he compared it to the catholic church, meaning he knew "full well" what his answer would be before asking. he's stirring shit up.

I've been able to add them to my library but they won't load when I try to watch them. Is that working for you?

So this is an unbiased opinion?

The fuck?

"Can anybody who didn't say it was good tell me if it's good?"

The only answer i got by the way. GG to that.

if you did, it didn't get across to anyone

What? Okay i say it now. I do love NeoGAF, it is a great community. but this j-love is over the top. I ask for a game recommendation? OH GEE BLOODBORNE WAS ROBBED!

Yeah thanks, i didn't ask for that. But thanks for sharing.

I ask if those free animes are good, like any other series is good?

Somebody replies with "dude seriously, why are you asking?!". What is this? What am I DOING WRONG? Answer that, maybe it is my mistake. I just don't see it.

this never happened

you asked for unbiased opinions from people who "haven't said the series is good", then directly compared it to like asking if you should believe in god at a catholic church. you knew what you were doing.

Grabbed both, thanks OP.
how well does activating them on to your account work in terms of getting them on xbox? is it as simple as adding to your account on pc and then downloading them via the xbone marketplace?

Hell yes to free Devil is a Part-Timer. Can't wait to see how well the dub turned out.

So what else is free? I've already seen Steins;Gate (need to finish up my Vita copy), might nab the first few episodes of Tiger & Bunny and Blood Lad.

Are PC gamers supposed to be really big on anime or something? I find this and Steam's situation rather curious.

Wait, did something else happen on Steam beyond the flood of abysmal looking animu games?

Thanks, OP. Heard good things about STEINS;GATE

sooo.. how do you tell who is a fanboy and who has an unbiased opinion? Maybe it's actually a good show and people liked it?

What does unbiased opinion even mean in this context? Or in general?

by asking, like he did. An unbiased opinion in this case is one from someone that isn't a fan of a niche genre that may like things others wouldn't necessarily pay money for or be interested in. Unbiased opinions are reasons why Naruto, Death Note, etc. became popular - people that didn't like anime thought they were good.

If somebody has 5+ superhero movies in their top 10, I would think their opinion of superhero movies would be biased compared to somebody that isn't a glaring fan.

I don't know what "unbiased" opinion means in this context. If you've watched the show, you either like it or you don't, and so you're automatically "biased".

Nah, you're not. Anime is a niche genre - people that like anime are more likely to say certain anime are good because they're a fan of the genre which can lead to a biased opinion.

it was a joke because people got super offended over that comment.

Free is good but this is really crappy that the store sells the dub and subtitled versions as separate products.

Nah still not working.

Changed region to USA, tried playing an episode and i get an error

Try again, we can't play this right now. (0x1000eafb)

I own Xbox One but I don't care about anime at all, I just read the One Piece manga every week when it comes out in Japan, though I don't like the Anime, besides watching a few key moments on youtube

Yeah, that kind of sucks, especially since I just checked & the sub for Devil is a Part-Timer still costs money, only the dub is free. I guess you can't switch the audio as easily compared to DVDs/BD or something, but why not offer both as a bundle?

Also hahahahahahahaha, Microsoft, I question your definition of "Drama" for anime like Kill la Kill, Assassination Classroom, Demon King Daimao, & freakin' To-Love-Ru.

When I buy, a confirmation pop-up appears and then I press "buy" for $0 and the pop-up disappears and nothing happens. Is there supposed to be a region restriction that just doesn't display for me?

I also have no idea how I should watch this, I tried the Windows 10 "Movies & TV" app and there's nothing under either movies or TV.

Oh on Xbox One? Was just trying on my web browser with a proxy and the connection kept failing. Will give it a try now.

[edit] nvm, changed Windows region and it's working now. :\
