Consolation: Unlike the first film, Big Momma's House 2 is not showing strong legs
Doesn't have to since it's made back its production budget already. A few more weeks in the theatres + DVD sales = decent profit.
Domestic: $36,061,000 84.6%
+ Overseas: $6,574,069 15.4%
= Worldwide: $42,635,069
Production Budget: $40 million

It's nice to see the Oscar nominees in the top 10.

And is "When a Stranger Calls" a remake of "Black Christmas"? I remember that movie having the same line and the same twist.

I know that, but the profitability of the film didn't really have anything to do with the point I was trying to make.

"When a Stranger Calls" is a remake of a movie called "When a Stranger Calls".

Ok... wait a second...

They're remaking "Black Christmas", which had the "have you checked the children" line and the killer making phone calls inside the house, this year:

Hollywood truly is creatively bankrupt.

Black Christmas does not have that line.

The caller/killer is in the attic, though.

But I haven't seen "When a Stranger Calls", and I distinctly remember hearing that line right around the time I saw "Black Christmas". I think my aunt, or someone around me at the time, must've said it... I saw the movie around 10 years ago at my cousin's house, so my memory's a little hazy.

I edited for clarity. The caller in Black Christmas mostly just makes these vulgar, animalistic noises(which is really creepy) over the phone.

Sadly, Black Christmas looks to be next on the Horror remake list.

Brokeback Mountain is Titantic at 1/10th the scale. So it won't make a billion worldwide, but it'll do 100 million with ever-consistent weekends. It's certainly not a movie that shoots its load the first weekend.
