Fright Night all the way. Much more a "classic" 80's Vampire tale. Lost boys was too "pop culture". And by that I mean it was kinda like a music video at time. It did have teh Corys, which I am a suck for. But Fright Night is just good clean "OMG a Vampire lives next-door and no one believes me!!"
Though my personal favorite 80's vampire flick is "Near Dark". Its a much more realistic and raw take on modern vampires.
The Lost Boys ment more to me in the 80s. Fright Night gained some ground back as I got older.
Plus you have two different levels of Vampire. Lost Boys Vampires are some of the weakest least impressive on film while Jerry Dandrige is one of the most powerful.

Lost Boys Vampires are definitely weaker. But in terms of like Vampire Lore, it seemed more like Max was the true Vampire and all the others were just his Vampire Spawn. But yeah, even he isn't that impressive.
The Lost Boys. Grew up with this one. The music, the setting, the "party" scene, the ending, everything is fucking ace and I love it every time I watch the film.
