These dates are significant not only because of the anniversary itself, but also because in the case of titles that have not received a sequel or new release since then, they can mean news and updates with possible new projects in their respective franchises. That is to say, during these anniversaries there may be either news of a new game or a surprise new release.

This list also serves as a very accurate snapshot of that time period. In 2015, the eighth-generation consoles (PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U) had only been on the market for a few years. Many high-profile releases, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops III or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, were cross-generational in that they also appeared on PS3 and Xbox 360, demonstrating that major developers and distributors were still thinking about these machines and their respective large console fleets when releasing their most anticipated titles.

At the same time, the Wii U was going through a complicated moment. Although it was one of Nintendo’s biggest sales failures, in 2015 it received fan-favorite titles like Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Splatoon, or Super Mario Maker, which meant that this machine continued to have great exclusives and quality games. In short, this list is not only a nostalgic list, but also serves to better understand where “we were” ten years ago in the electronic entertainment landscape.

Loved all of these games. Can’t think of many other years since then where I’ve loved that many.

Time really has flown.

I have been thinking about replaying MGS5. I have 60ish hours on Steam but I never finished it and ever since I started playing Helldivers 2 last year I have been craving MGS5 (it's almost the exact same movement and animations in HD2 for those unaware) but there is also Xenoblade X on the horizon. I don't have that much time to spare to replay something. ffs!

I can't decide if I BB or TW3 is better. I love them both equally.

BloodBorne in 60FPS! I never thought I would personally play it!

10 years is a long time ago too. It feels like it

Those are old games and many many things happened in our lives since their release.

Man.....how the hell is there not a Broforce 2? Still one of my favorite games of the last decade, I play through it again about every year or so.

Also of note, it's crazy that Battlefront and The Witcher 3 came out the same year as MKX, as the two former games still look incredible, and MKX has aged like milk. Still fun to play, but those models look like shit....really shows how big of a leap MK11 was. Hell, I think MK11 looks better than MK1, but what do I know?

Xenoblade X was also that year. MGSV and X are some of the very few games from the last 20 years to make my top 50 so a very good year for me.

Revenge of the Sith - 20 years... okay, I can accept that.

The Force Awakens - 10 years... WHERE THE ACTUAL FUCK DID TIME GO?

Been a brutal 10 years that feels like yesterday.
With covid it's like we all lost 3 years.

It's also why the PS5 and XS consoles don't seem so old : the first 3 years were so slow to pass, but as soon as it passed it's like it disappeared, vanished, and it's like we went from 2019 to 2023.

This is a bit mind-blowing to me, I have trouble accepting how time flies. The Witcher 3, Rocket League.. Two of the best games I ever played.

A bit funny to think about how long I've had some of these games in my backlog meaning to one day play them. Arkham Knight, MGSV, Dying Light.. There's just so many fun games out there, that I probably never will get around to it. Even as great performing Steam Deck games, there's just too many options these days you can never play everything you plan to.

Still never played Witcher 3 or cyberpunk. Not sure which one I’ll try first. I didn’t really get too into mgs5. Played it briefly and never got too into it like mgs4. Maybe one day.
