FromSoftware Announces The DuskBloods - Switch 2 Exclusive

I don't think this will be able to make enough money just on the switch 2. I will buy a switch 2 for it but there isn't as many fromsoftware fanatics like me that will go to that extent.

Hopefully it's just a timed exclusive.

If Sony showed it during SoP it would've been eaten alive. And rightfully so.
Honestly I think the reaction would have been the same : mixed.

Some would have been excited and other disappointed.
I admit that due to the clear Bloodborne imagery in the trailer if Sony would reveal it the reactions would have been a bit more harsh for this point.

But the reaction to Multiplayer, would have been the same.

i would guess this will be like a MH Rise or Octopath situation. Switch —-> 1 year later PC —-> 1 year later Sony.

But you never know with Nintendo.

I'm just reiterating that this is pure GaaS title, there is no SP element here.

Any sonyponys buying a Nintendo for this game?
I'm not a "Sonypony" but I would definitly get a Switch 2 for this.
When it arrives I will already have a Switch 2 because of Metroid though (which is the reason i'm getting one before the launch of Duskbloods)

From their website
"is a PvPvE-based multiplayer action game in which up to 8 players battle each other and players battle their enemies. Players become the "Duskbloods," who have gained powers beyond those of humans through the power of special blood, and find themselves in an epic battle for the "First Blood."

And in the trailer, we see several fights between humans so it really looks like PvP will be central.

This looks pretty much like a only online "arena" game. I agree we need to see details to judge but so far it looks very different from SoulsBorne games.
SoulsBorne game were Singleplayer with extra optional multiplayer. DuskBlood sounds more like the multiplayer is mandatory.
I swear to god… if this is just overwatch with souls combat.

Duskbloods looks very different from what FromSoft fans (or part of the fan) were expecting so it's normal to see disappointment. Platform on which you can play it is irrelevant.

Basically:

"FROMSoftware are getting predictable with their souls-like formula. They should try something different."

"NO! NOT LIKE THAT!"

ahah no publirshed and paid by nintendos like bayonetta

But if it's multiplayer-focused
You might know this already, but the Switch emulators let you play online with other people. With a bit of luck it'll be the same for the S2 emu.
- the other bad news is that if FromSoft has been busy with BOTH this and Nightreign, there may NOT be a "next big thing" already in advanced production from them. That would be a fucking bummer.
Yeah that would be a fucking tragedy. I want my single-player FROM experience. Character building, slowly exploring and uncivering the world, overcoming challenges on my own... I'm not interested at all in an MP focused title.

I think there are different group in the fanbase.

I have no problem with the Souls formula and would like to see a return of smaller world like in Bloodborne and Dark Souls. And honestly no sure in the fanbase the voice "They should change their formula" is a huge group.

I understand they want to change their formula. I salute that actually. I don't really like the direction there are going and it's fine. There is other game to play.
But I think it's normal for some fans to express their disappointment when they see a dev they love producing games they're not likely to play.
It doesn't mean the dev should listen to them. But it doesn't mean we should downplay those complaining neither.

I screamed "Bloodborne 2?" when I watched the reveal but my hype is zero when I heard it's multiplayer title.

I am not saying multiplayer titles are bad. It is just not FromSoftware's expertise.

Saying "oh yeah it's Nightreign" is premium cope.

It's directed by Miyazaki. It's the From Software 'A' team. I think you need to at least see and hear more about the game actually plays before dismissing it just based on that information alone.
So did you buy a ps vr to play deracine since it was also directed by Miyazaki?

Bloodborne? This is obviously the Elden Ring engine... What're you going on about? Looks like a mild Elden Ring expansion posing as a new game.
But that's still the Bloodborne engine, right?
Haven't they used that same engine since Demon's Souls?

The Duskbloods doesn't align with fan expectations, and I think that will overshadow the discourse around the game, regardless of whether it's good or not, which is a shame. But the silver lining is that GAF/the internet is a social bubble that many gamers don't engage with. GaaS/multiplayer games sell the most and represent the majority of the market, so it will still have a fair chance of being successful on its own merit.

Yup, a lot of people took Déraciné as some sort of C team side project, but it was actually directed by Miyazaki. So, which is it?
I don't know why people here are trying to convince anyone that it's not multiplayer-focused when it's pretty fucking obvious it is. And yes, From Software can make it all they want, it's not like they owe fans anything.

It has to be a "side project", right? This can't possibly be the next big FS game.
Switch exclusive, PvPvE? It's going to sell a tiny fraction of what Elden Ring did.

Almost don't believe this is directed by Myazaki for him to think of finally making a successor to BB but then making some weird co-op spin iff instead.
People writing it off as a multiplayer game are just coping because the next Miyazaki direct A-Team Fromsoft game is exclusive to a Nintendo console.

These are the game directors who directed / codirected the FromSoft releases in the last 10 years (some codirectors weren't mentioned in their PR):
  • Dark Souls II: Tomohiro Shibuya, Yui Tanimura
  • Dark Souls II - Scholar of the First Sin: Tomohiro Shibuya, Yui Tanimura
  • Bloodborne: Miyazaki
  • Dark Souls III: Miyazaki, Isamu Okano, Yui Tanimura
  • Dark Souls Remastered: Isamu Okano
  • Déraciné: Miyazaki, Shigeto Hirai, Takaaki Yamagishi
  • Sekiro: Miyazaki, Kazuhiro Hamatani
  • Elden Ring: Miyazaki, Yui Tanimura
  • Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree: Miyazaki, Yui Tanimura
  • Armored Core VI: Masaru Yamamura
  • Elden Ring - Nightreign: Junya Ishizaki
We know The Duskbloods has Miyazaki, but we still dont' know if also has additional codirectors. Seeing that Miyazaki always had codirectors in the 5 projects he did work in after Bloodborne, pretty likely he'll have some codirector here too.

After Scholars of the First Sin, Tomohiro Shibuya moved to Yuke's and worked in multiple Earth Defense Force games. Hirai worked in design tasks in Sekiro and AC VI, where he was Level Design Director, so if he's directing something it would be a project that started after ACVI. After Déraciné, Yamagishi worked as Cinematics Director in Sekiro, Elden Ring + Endtree or AC VI.

As far as I know, Okano didn't release anything since 2018 (Dark Souls Remastered), so he could be working on The Duskbloods or another project.

it will very likely sell millions on Switch 2

This looks SO good. Honestly looks a million times better than Nightreign.

Honestly, Nintendo haters, be honest here. Would you rather have Nightreign or this?
