FromSoftware Announces The DuskBloods - Switch 2 Exclusive

All the hyperbole with so little info and such distrust from Miyazaki directing the game, holy shit I expect a lot of crow eating.

Anyway,

This scene to calm you down

When I saw the trailer I was very excited, but now that I know that it is a online thing I'm quite disappointed

Second From Software game like that...

Is there confirmation of this anywhere?

Or just an assumption becuase From own the IP?
Fiirst off, NOA's official PR doesn't list it alongside first-party releases (Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, etc.), but instead on the 'Exciting Games from Global Developers and Publishers' section, alongside the likes of EA Sports FC and Borderlands 4. While folks will notice Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment being there as well, it's worth mentioning that these musou entries are actually part of IP licensing deals with Koei Tecmo Games, the main publishers of these games (leaving Nintendo to pick up the Western localization, basically the opposite of Mario + Rabbids being mainly published by Ubisoft, but Nintendo handling its Japanese localization) and, unlike The Duskbloods, it actually mentions having 'support from Nintendo'; it's actually exactly how Koei Tecmo Games used to license its Project Zero IP to Nintendo back in the day.
Now, you mention the IP being owned by From Software, and yes, we know that because they're the only entity mentioned on the game's copyrght. Nintendo, on the other hand, usually puts itself within the copyright of a project that they have produced and published, independently of them owning the IP or not. This is from Bayonetta 3, for example, a game published by Nintendo from an IP that they do not own:
© Nintendo © SEGA Published by Nintendo
And yeah, Nintendo is known for moneyhatting a lot of games over the course of years, especially this generation; Octopath Traveller being a major example of that.
Given the current development climate, it wouldn't make sense for a publisher like From Software (yes, they are a publisher) to make a game exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 without some sort of deals coming in first, and by the looks of it, this one doesn't look like a major one.
Expecting this on other platforms by 2027.

Nintendo is publishing it, From own the copyright. Not sure how you can deduce that it's a timed exclusive based off that alone. It's a Switch 2 exclusive, let's just leave it at that.

Yup, Nintendo literally killed Sony PSVita, by paying Capcom tons of money to put Monster Hunter exclusively on 3DS. Up to that point Monster Hunter was THE franchise for Sony's handheld PSP

"The way that we work with Monster Hunter games is that we see them as single entities," Monster Hunter creator Ryozo Tsujimoto told IGN at the Tokyo Video Games Show, "so we don't develop for one platform and then think about porting it to another platform. The situation with the 3DS and the Wii U is that we wanted people to play this game a lot, so that's why we have taken this [multi-platform] approach with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. But it doesn't mean we'll do that with new entries.

"The series did start out on Sony platforms, but it's just realistic to think that it can't continue on one platform forever," Tsujimoto continued. "With Monster Hunter 4, it actually just came down to timing - we were developing a new Monster Hunter and the 3DS hardware had just come out, so we figured it was probably the best platform for us to develop it on. You have two screens, with action on top and menus on the bottom, and there's the 3D view as well. It just made sense to put it onto 3DS."

From what are we deducing that Nintendo is publishing it, though?
The trailer didn't exactly suggest that and an official store page isn't up yet. It's exactly why we have to rely on PR and copyright patterns now, none of it suggests that Nintendo is publishing it.

I think I missed the part of The Duskbloods being a big established IP that Sony relies on for its entire success, at all (on a single region at that).

It's in the From Software press release.

"FromSoftware, Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Hidetaka Miyazaki) has announced that the new online multiplayer action game "The Duskbloods" (published by Nintendo / FromSoftware) will be released worldwide in 2026 on the Nintendo Switch™ 2."

Whether that means they're co-publisher or just publisher, I don't think it matters much. They're publishing it to some capacity.

like bloodborne 2 for switch 2 hooooopes its on treehouse

Likely been in production before the Elden RIng launch.

Kinda disagree on the ugly remark. People were comparing this to Bloodborne and while I like the look of Bloodborne more, if this isn't straight up bullshots, this IQ is clean, better than Bloodborne anyway. THough that's not really saying a lot, given that Bloodborne is ten years old. Still though, I hope the framrate hold sup better than that game as well as having better IQ

Watch the trailer again. The train passing by the camera may be the worst scene. You can count the polygons. It has better aliasing than BB but the textures are a big step back from 2015 Bloodborne. By the time it comes out it will have been 11+ years.

Not really what I'm looking for in a From Software game tbh... I guess I'm sitting this one out like Nightreign.
If it was a singleplayer experience like Bloodborne I'd definitely consider buying a Switch 2 just for it.

Thanks for this, though I will say that the Nintendo / From Software thing smells like Western / Japanese publisher, it's certainly weird that it doesn't get to be treated like how Nintendo publishing productions usually do, including those from IP that they don't own (my reasons for this? the summary I just posted).

As a From fanboy and Bloodborne crazy person, I thought it looked kinda bad. Hearing it's a PvPvE game is a big no thanks for me.

I'll continue my Bloodborne remaster coping.

Seriously. FROM is dead to me. I hope they crash and burn badly on these GAAS slops.

People who think it looks like Bloodborne, and not a cheap mixture of their previous games in general, combined with some Yoko Taro ahh head floating in the sky - you are proving every day you will eat ANYTHING as long as it has "FromSoftware" logo slapped onto it.

Wow Sony and From fans working overtime in here trying to downplay this announcement…

Deep down, they really want this, especially ponies. They pride their system as the home of the Souls genre. Every single From Soft Souls games have appeared on a PlayStation system. This is the first that won't be

That eats them up inside

LOL you wish kid. I brought my PS4 just to play bloodborne, and my ps5 just for demons souls. If this was a real bloodborne 2 level announcement, better believe I'd buy this too...

But this is multiplayer slop filled with D- tier rejected character designs.

Look around at the people commenting, nearly anyone with a bloodborne avatar themselves is commenting on how shit this looked.

Don't delude yourself into thinking sony fans are hurt, or that there's some sort of mass conspiracy to downplay the 'quality' of what we saw. Fact is, we are seeing a lack of quality, not an excess of it.

Holy shit the hyperbole in this thread. If you're a fan of souls games … has Miyazaki ever failed you? Give it a chance. The rest of you ass hats can go back to playing cod and spider man ffs.
You have to understand. This is GAF.

It's bad because its exclusive to Nintendo. If it was exclusive to Sony they would all be singing its praises.

I have never owned a single Nintendo but I would consider buying one to play a Miyazaki game. I don't give a fuck what system the game is exclusive on, I just want to play the good stuff from the creators that don't let ya down. This place and its brand warrior bullshit and graphics whoring has gotten stale.
