FromSoftware has announced that the Elden Ring Nightreign update originally scheduled for release today has been postponed to tomorrow. The decision comes in light of the tsunami warnings currently in effect in Japan following an offshore earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula. Nightreign's latest patch will be going live on July 31, after 1AM PDT.
Patch 1.02, which will introduce two-player support as well as UI improvements, had initially been slated for release on July 30, along with scheduled server maintenance. Additionally, the second cycle of the Everdark Sovereign event, featuring Maris, Fathom of Night, was scheduled to go live following the patch's release. However, FromSoftware has now announced that both the patch and the appearance of the new boss will be delayed.
The earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula struck around 8:00 AM local time, prompting tsunami alerts for a wide area, with affected territories in Japan including Hokkaido, Chiba Prefecture, and Tokyo Bay. Given the uncertain and potentially dangerous situation, FromSoftware likely opted to delay the update out of concern for operational safety and possible disruptions.
In the wake of the earthquake, events across Japan, including concerts and public performances, have been canceled or suspended until the warnings are lifted. Readers in affected areas are advised to stay alert to disaster updates and prioritize safety above all else.
