Elden Ring Nightreign - Reviews Thread

So playing solo is basically hard mode.
This was honestly the best review IGN has done in a long time. Great explanation from a major ER fan on why this game just CANT hit due to the issues present, (no cross play, voice chat, etc).

The only time to play this will be at launch because after a year it'll be dead except a few sweats.

Expected around 83 on meta. This is not what the community wants, Fromsoft. It's OK to try new projects if their main game is cooking in the background, and isn't being delayed because of these so called projects.

They have more than one team.

Miyazaki's next game is on switch 2 and looks to be pvp focused.

Assumptions for projects after these will be likely an Elden ring 2 and a new armored core,

That's what i thought, but if there's any way their next magnum opus takes longer to come out for whatever reason because of these side projects, that's not ok for me.

And i don't think they'll release ER2 right after Duskbloods. There were rumors going around for some time that their next big game has victorian style era a la bloodborne, and the combat system is heavily focused on magic, most of which is melee range magic. I hope this is not duskbloods? If so... fuck.

And i am pretty big into pvp since Demon's Souls, so to me pvp is not a negative, but i don't want just pvp. The full package to me is a quality singleplayer game, and pvp, which serves me as the endgame for hundreds of hours. It's perfect that way, and i don't want them to change the formula.

That game is Duskbloods.

In lord Miyazaki we trust.

That guy is the best IGN reviewer

From fan at any other dev doing gaas.
"this gaas shit wont fly"

From fan at From gaas game.
"This is a experiment Net positive, great thing, bring more.

🤷‍♂️

If From wants to do MP bullshit like this or Duskbloods from now on they can just fuck off.

Their next big game is probably SP but this bullshit takes away resources from that project. Many great developers fucked up like that in the past (and never returned to form).

So many crybabies in here. Don't like it? Don't play it.

Don't need to hear your myriad of reasons why it plugs something up your butthole.

It will sell well regardless of you hating it.
When u say "sell well", how many milions of copies is that, 1/2/3/4/5/more ? :P
Coz ER sold over 30m copies by now:

"....there is technically a singleplayer option but it`s so poorly balanced .....the bosses are definitely designed with multiple players in mind....."

aaaand I´m finally definitely out.

Exactly the same as the last boss in the Erdtree dlc by the way - clearly tuned for 3 players as that was the only way to do it.

This game is just low effort tbh. This is a cash grab and low quality in every single way. Reused assets all over the place and reused bosses for crying out loud. This game didn't need to exist, and only exists because they wanna keep milking the elden ring cash cow.
Dont buy it? Always conplaining about long development cycles but then when someone uses existing assets to create a new game prople still complain. For people who like this genre this could be a great game, if you dont then just dont play it. I wish more developers would do things like this. And not all those games have to be appealing to me.

They've fucked this with there not being a crossplay option.

My mates were interested in getting this, but not anymore since we are all spread across PC and PS5.

No crossplay is just so From soft its amazing. They are like 10 years behind in every tech. Just like nintendo

If you're going to do a co-op multiplayer focused game and release it across all platforms then it's pretty much a prerequisite these days.

Hopefully they'll add it later, it will be needed to keep the playerbase alive.

Yep, the lack of crossplay basically makes it unplayable for me. Despite having no real interest in the game´s concept I was going to buy it anyway to play with some friends but we´re on different platforms and since there´s no local co-op either I have no way to play it with my friend group. Wack.

I never questioned crossplay for whatever reason, I guess because I figured it wouldn't have it because Elden Ring didn't have it. It also just sounds very on brand for FS so that's not surprising. But it really is pretty funny how with some things they really do feel like they're behind the times.

By the way, I thought solo run meant having two NPC companions. Could've sworn I read about this in previews.

Am I going crazy?

You're not. I could've sworn I heard the same at some point. But when I double checked a bit ago, I saw nothing about it. 🤷‍♂️

It's kind of weird, I don't know why they didn't bother doing that, especially if there are "balance issues" when playing solo. But then again, maybe they did it thinking that people would want a hard experience, lol.

You will see that Miyazakiborne is a Miyazaki game and will be much better than Fortblight. When Nintendo puts you on a pedestal you don't take the piss.

8 players in pvpve in fixed arenas (maps) killing each others for points that can be traded for cosmetics....
Yeah, right.
Between this and that one I can't say which one is worse.

I just hope From has a main team working on a real (SP) game.

Heard about Duskbloods?

I will wait for offline single player mods that remove or gives options for the timed phases, and gets balance right.

I admire Miyazaki for going for duskbloods. The man does what he likes instead of giving his crazy fans what they want. If it was some American, it would have been elden ring sequels forever.

Pretty well in line with what I'm seeing of the game in action. Could've been much more with a better director, still decent thanks to the strong core gameplay carried over from Elden Ring, lot of puzzling design decisions that should've been avoided considering the experience From has with the Souls formula.

I wonder how many people people think this game is better than they first thought? This game seemed to have quite a lot of people hating on it before trying it but I see a lot of positive things thing's being mentioned nowadays.

I think it's great, even if I keep falling short on the last bosses with random people as team mates I keep going back for more.
