FromSoftware's Next Game Could be Its Most Ambitious Yet | Rumor Wave (George R.R. Martin?)

Well, it sure would be awesome to finally get an OpenWorld game with great combat. Hope they do not overburden themselves with this though.
No thank you, I like how FromSoftware games have well crafted level designs. Honestly both Sekiro and Bloodborne has better exploration than most open world games out there.

Another Rumour for muy friend...

How are you my friend? I hope you've played the devil may cry 5, what this game tells us a long time, the Sekiro will have to wait for me to buy it ... I'm still trying to pass the all difficulties in DMC.
Speaking of Sekiro, I tell you that I am enjoying the holidays in Japan and you know that I have acquaintances in From Software, and they are very happy of how it is going to the game, the weekend we celebrated the launching of Sekiro in a Karaoke in the streets of Tokyo (I still do not get used to the Sale) and they told me that in the company there was a communication with Konami for a great saga known, I can not reveal more, but I'm a fan of Silent Hill, you know, I asked, and I had smiles " Japanese, "I just hope this is true, a moment like a conversation of loaners, but nothing more. I hope to see you in Buenos Aires in April, Greetings my good friend.

Oh dios mio

Sound like a neat combo, and how many video games are written in collaboration with fantasy novel writers(I know Amalur had R. A. Salvatore, but I'm wondering if there are others)?

Granted I'd be way more interested if they were collaborating with Michael Moorcock.

Jeeezzz, what's with all the Sekiro hate?
I think some people are not in to the combat that has heavy focus on perry. I personally LOVED the combat in Sekiro. personally both Sekiro and Bloodborne are my favourite FromSoftware games.

I never actually completed BB, my son deleted my save before I got too far and I never got back to it. But with the limited time I have I'm really enjoying Sekiro... I usually clear a boss every day that I have time to play.

It's weird because I really liked Bloodborne but Sekiro's game style just didn't seem very enjoyable. Super one-dimensional.

+1. Considering I platinumed all DS games and generally consider it to be one of the best series of all times I was shocked at how hard I bounced off Sekiro. I think From needs a new leadership, someone who can recapture the magic of DS1. Miyazaki is pushing the series too far towards binary nature of combat where you either school the AI so hard it wants to delete itself from the game or you end up eating your own controller. If I wanted that I'd just play Ninja Gaiden Black instead.

It reminds me of playing Punch out, except it's not as tight. The thing that annoys me most about the game is all the unused systems in there. It's like From came up with all this stuff, then couldn't find a way of making it work. Nothing seems to matter at all except the swordplay, which is frankly pretty good.

Seeing as this is now the 3rd game From have released that has half-arsed or abandoned (major) gameplay elements in it, I think you may well have a point.
I do enjoy Sekiro, but am concerned how regressive it is and how much of it doesn't work.

Interesting.

GRRM can build one hell of a world and FROM are masters of bringing worlds to life with minimal direct story telling.

Although an item description written by GRRM would span the equivalent of 10 pages.

VaatiVidya would have 15 years of content.

Or Vampire Hunter D.
While I was very satisfied with the existing game...
A Vampire Hunter D open world A-RPG could be promising.
If they can exploit all the stories from the 20+ books, they would probably have enough for a very lengthy adventure.
I can already picture the long rides on our mecha-horse while listening to the hand's witty monologues.

It's from soft so I'll check it out regardless however i'm not too fond of the Open World rumors. i really hope this isn't true.

Also Demon's Souls 2 plus remake pls. Thx.

I kinda hope that someday From Software and Tsutomu Nihei (Blame!, Abara, Knights of Sidonia, Aposimz/Country of the Dolls) are making a game. I would love for his style and settings to be realized in a game...

I lurk around on that shitty ass Era place solely for the posts by some "insiders", this dude last year had teased things about the new From game before E3 started and it turned out to be Sekiro and he was right about it all. He's saying the game that will be announced at E3 to him is even more exciting than the Sekiro announcement. He said a few other things and I'm starting to wonder if he could be referring to this. I'm definitely curious.

I just don't understand how a Soulslike game would work in Game of Thrones. It just doesn't imo.

The world of Game of Thrones, being named Westeros is MADE to be an open-world adventure game. It would fit perfectly. Just make it a different timeline with all the major locations. I don't think FROM is a good developer to make an open world type game.

Dude, a fucking Game of Thrones souls-type game from the master themselves would be something.

Remember that GoT game from last generation (?) where you would play as a random dude (new character) in the Nights Watch or whatever it was?
Now think on the possibility of creating a new character, like Souls, and choose like the family affiliation and just adventure into Westeros with dark souls gameplay :messenger_astonished:

I would lose my shit.

And then I saw L Luffytubby 's post :messenger_face_screaming:

George R.R. Martin: "I've consulted on a video game out of Japan"

The rumored From Software collaboration project?

A Song of Fire and Ice writer George R.R. Martin has consulted on a video game developed in Japan, the novelist said in a blog post.

Back in March, YouTube channel Spawn Wave published a video discussing a rumor regarding the next project from Dark Souls and Bloodborne developer From Software, which stated it is an open-world title on which George R.R. Martin is one of the lead writers, with various kingdoms to visit and abilities to obtain from killing the leaders of those kingdoms.

A person familiar with ongoings at From Software has told Gematsu that the project—said to be known internally as "GR" (Gematsu has been asked to only share the acronym) and in development for the past three years—is an open-world title (with horse riding) and collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin published by Bandai Namco, which will be officially announced at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference. While we have not been able to verify this information through additional sources, we have decided to share what we have heard in light of R.R. Martin's blog post.

Fuck me, I never thought they are gonna do this. Now I'm excited (a bit). I'm hoping it has a huge open world. like , all of Westeros with good rpg elements.

I'm surprised at the lack of enthusiasm for this rumor.

I can only imagine what even wanting GRRM to collaborate on a game must mean for what From is planning in terms of scope.

My trepidation is not with GRRM aka The Punching Bag Of The Month, but with anyone from film or TV getting involved in a From project.

From in my opinion is a master of storytelling in the medium. They have all but excised the cinematic paradigm of storytelling in thier games. If GRRM was tapped (or limited to) world building and plot points, but Miyazaki tells a story in his style, this collaboration could be something truly special.

If this is From's attempt to capture the audience who finds thier content to obtuse and difficult to parse, my only solace is that every attempt to broaden their appeal or become more "accessible" has failed spectacularly.
