I didn't personally mod my box. The guy has put an Xecuter chip in w/ FlashBIOS 3.03 installed. He's fitted switches on my machine - one to turn the chip on and off, the middle which I think turns flash protection on and off, and the third which lets me switch between FlashBIOS and the normal MS Dashboard. At least I think it's the original MS Dash. It has the usual Memory/Music/Xbox Live/Settings layout. He's changed the boot up images so there's an "evo-x" overlay, but there's definately no Evo-X dash present. From FlashBIOS I can re-flash the box via HTTP, via disc or via HD. I can also unlock/lock the Hard drive.

I want to put Unleash-X on the thing and gain access to the HD via a crossover cable. But I just can't figure out how to FTP to the thing using any of the common guides.

Can anyone help?

Um...plug it in and FTP like normal (set up static IPs if you need), then use xbox/xbox as your user/pass.

I recommend you get slayer's evox auto-installer disk. It adds the essential programs and dashboards, ability to flash, etc. Once you have that disk everything else is pretty straightforward.

I've tried putting Evolution X dash on a CD, and can boot that up fine. From there I can goto System Utils > Settings to get my IP. But I get connection refused errors in CuteFTP.

Make sure under settings; FTP Enable=yes, login and password is "xbox"

you get the error because you're running Evox from a CD. it can't change the .ini file, so your IP address doesn't change. You've got to change that from your PC first, by editing the .ini, and then burning it to disc

I don''t know how you've set up you're XBox but what you may want to do is run the Unleash dashboard like an application. I have been a big fan of Avalaucnh since the latest versions (built in DVD player, Qwik boost mode, etc.). But I still like some of the functionality of EvoX so I just put EvoX in my apps folder and run it like an application. So technically you can have as many dashboards as you like. I hope my post makes sense.

Also get your hands on the XBox Auto Installer disc. Nice dicsc that contains all the major goodies and makes installation for newbies a snap. It can be found in the usual place.

I'll be flying back into town tomorrow. Drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do. I think I put together a doc with pics but it's not that hard. I believe there is a tutorial over at XBox-Scene.com that explains the fairly simple process. And keep in mind that I am by no means an expert, this stuff is not hard once you get a handle on what's going on.

I have a Xenium ICE and use Evo-X, both which are good for what they do!

Yeah, I use UnleashX as an app too. EvoX is my dash.

I like how you can randomly play your mp3s in the background in UnleashX. Animated backgrounds add a lot as well. Can anyone recommend some really nice skins for it?
