Looks fun (2d certainly looks great on DS), but the bottom screen looks kinda underutilized... It looks like it's just for a Superattack.

hell yes, I've been watching the series for the last couple of weeks and I think this looks excellent :). My DS is in need for some good 2d side scrolling beat 'em up action!

This actually isn't a Square Enix game, the portable FMA titles are handled by Bandai while the console ones are handled by SE. The name of the game is FMA: Dual Sympathy.

Actually the PS2 brawler was published by Bandai too. Here's how it really works: Square Enix owns the FMA license, they choose to only develop and publish the action RPG series with anime FMVs from Bones. Bandai is interested in cashing in on more games (portables, brawlers, etc) so they license the brand from Square Enix to develop and publish other games. It has nothing to do with platform. In the end Square Enix profits no matter who's publishing or developing it. :)

That's hot. The idea of drawing transmutation circles on the touch screen is a cool way to do things. Of course... I hope you don't *have* to do that. I like the way this thing looks though. Hawt!

They should of made an FMA RPG where you draw your alchemy on the touchscreen. It is such a damn DUH I'm confused as to why they would make anything else. Looks nice anyway. A Pokemon like game where you get to draw your own monsters and how you draw them (Lines, Size and Colors) would dictate it's strength and abilities that would be awsome.

But dude, that would mean it's a FMA RPG where you don't play as the FMA. Ed doesn't draw alchemy circles. :P

Nice spritework, though as complex as it is it kinda makes three human enemies who look the same (Though one is recolored) at once looks kinda lousy. Just need multiple face and skin tone sets.

Promising.

Semantics semantics. I want my real-time Alchemy drawing RPG. They could make it like he's drawing the symbols in his head before he claps his hands.

Yes, Magic Pengel DS would be a great idea!

Hopefully these features hand-drawn anime cutscenes like the it's PS2 counterparts. Otherwise, it's look rather sharp. The visuals are crisp. I hope the touchscreen is used for more than selecting what Ed can transmute.

No way. Bandai wouldn't spend that kinda budget to get Bones animation on a portable game. Bones doesn't exactly come cheap and they're doing the animation for FMA3 on the PS2, FMA the movie and Eureka Seven right now, so I would think they're pretty tied up. :P

I like these screens. Makes me happy that the DS is "underpowered" (Don't take that to mean more than it does.) 'cause I love 2D games and thought the GBA would be the last haven for such games. Good to see DS keeping 'em alive. That's not to say I don't want to see 3D games on the machine, but 2D just looks so good on it. Hope to see more at E3.
