I just watched the first episode and it wasn't what I expected. I didn't really like it that much, nor did I hate it, but it was just interesting to watch. The adult jokes and 4th wall breaking caught me off guard.
I didn't know the older characters aren't in it a ton and not sure how much I'll like it as it settles in to normal sitcom mode but I'll check out more later.
Are they going to have an elaborate dance number coming out of nowhere in every single episode?
EDIT: Clicked on another and now they are singing again. Yeaaaah. I think I'm out.
The chemistry between the three ladies is so good, and so real. You can tell they really grew up together, and grew up delivering these kinds of jokes.
All done. Wow, I didn't expect to finish the whole thing on Day 1 but here I am.
Episode 13 Spoilers
The parody of The Bachlorette was perfect. It lampshaded DJ having to pick between two guys very well. And I have to admit, I really have to give them props for Stephanie's speech about how Kimmy and DJ's guy problems didn't really matter either way, since they'll still have each other. Really brought the show into 2016.
The DNA of the show is the same, but things are a little bit more loose. Still essentially kid friendly, but I can't even remember any alcohol references in the original show, let alone mild sex jokes.
It isn't a great comedy, but it was exactly what it needed to be. I honestly don't see how many anyone that earnestly enjoyed the original show would be disappointed with this. It's Full House 2016. It's directly aimed at adults who grew up watching the original show, and then there are sprinklings of things for kids who are watching this for the first time. Literally the opposite formula of Girl Meets World.
And it got a few laughs from me in pretty much every episode, which is more than I can say for a lot of the comedies out now. And not even laughs and cringes for how cheesy it is at times, but honest laughs. The new characters have their moments too. I like that the children are written to be extremely reasonable. They're still kids, but they're rational. I would say they're easier to relate to than the kids were in the original show. Kimmy's ex husband is a cartoony foreign dude, but he had some pretty funny moments that didn't rely solely on his accent being funny.
I'm expecting the Netflix announcement of Season 2 very soon. There is no way this misses the mark with the people it was targeting.
When (not if) they renew it for season 2 I hope Netflix decides to do 26 episodes. Come on, it's a sitcom filmed on a soundstage, the production values aren't that high, this isn't a Game of Thrones situation where they simply can't do longer seasons.
I'm on episode 4 and he has said it at least twice.
Stephanie is actually really good in this show. Without a doubt the strongest part.
Edit: What the fuck? A woman just came into a vet office and throws a skunk down and in the next scene they are bathing in giant tubs of tomato juice...who wrote this?
You can't see it, but I'm giving you the Michelle death stare from the pilot.

The definition of 0 to 100 real quick. They pulled that number out of nowhere without missing a beat. Such a weird way to get into the plot about needing money.
