It's been a couple of years since I made a similar topic, so....what do you guys think? Lots of absurd and hilarious things have been happening in our gaming culture of late, from console wars, culture wars, Gamergate/2.0, tone deaf devs, lawsuits, fake games, etc.

So I ask GAF: What was the funniest car crash you've seen on the Gaming freeway in the last fifteen years?

How did the infamous Xbox One announcement and backlash not make this list? Forcing a connect, focusing almost entirely on the media aspect of the console instead of video games, and then threatening always online DRM. The Xbox One was the catalyst that caused Microsoft to spiral out of control and go third-party.

Yeah, I know there were a few bigger ones I missed, my bad, haha. Could also probably include Stadia in the list of lulzworthy shit. I'm getting old, my dudes.

I think of a lot of these as more tragic than comic.

But the G4 thing with the meltdowns from sessler and frosk is hilarious

Aaron Greenberg saying "Hi-Fi RUSH was a break out hit for us and our players in all key measurements and expectations. We couldn't be happier with what the team at Tango Gameworks delivered with this surprise release."

The fact that they then shut the studio shortly after.

Aaron Greenberg is just the perfect embodiment of Xbox.

Horrible, Bloated, says one thing - means the opposite, inexplicably still around.

Oh yeah, was also pretty funny when Fortnite made a Martin Luther King experience level and disabled all emotes but accidentally left the whip emote enabled.

Nothing can beat Concord. Just look at this shit.

$400 million flushed down the toilet because nobody had the balls to tell them that gamers didn't want this.

Man I forgot about this one. I started laughing almost immediately when the twitter guy censored the word "heck".

The comedic timing in the VA's paragraph for the "There were no diversity consultants on this project." is priceless.

Tbh I can't really laugh about shit like concord, so I voted for Craig. Things like Shadows, Veilguard and Concord are more depressing to me than anything. So much money, talent and time wasted.

Voted dragon age as it def fit funniest most. Prob an honorable mention for abandoned, not exactly funny but super memorable, me and my wife had great fun following that wild rabbit hole, it was super entertaining.

Infinite is just sad... they had everything to change the FPS genre and stop the Call of Mobile Slop Duty games but 343 did what 343 does the best: Fuck everything up with their incompetence. And the worst is that they are not even done.
Tbf halo infinite isnt the same game today it was at launch. More modes and maps than halo 5 now, three variations of firefight (classic, koth, battle for the academy) and with the recent update they finally brought back the carbine and falcon, not to mention customizations for all weapons now.

On top of that, free battle passes that you can buy to play later if you cant complete them in a month is a vastly better system than the usual fomo passes of games like cod and fortnite.

Compared to launch when infinite only had like four modes, a handful of maps, no online co-op or forge, 6 month long passes, only three armor cores with no interchangeable pieces/colors. Its a night and day difference.

The only thing infinite is missing now are ps5/ns2 ports

Reminds me of this classic. Been over a year since the OP:

- complained about an Xbox firmware message that appeared even when the console was unplugged at the wall
- called somebody's entire family mongoloids when he got a flippant reply
- vanished, abandoning his 20-year GAF account, when it was shown that the firmware message was actually his TV

They had a immunoglobulin G deficiency which makes them more likely to get shit like this that killed them... take a guess what dramatically increases the chances of that? Hormonal changes, sucked to be them.

Although it makes the original story substantially less funny when you find out they essentially got their own body to kill itself and died. Just thought people might want to know in a "har har much funny" thread.

I think I laughed the most at the extreeeeeeeeeeeme Konami E3 conference. A lot of the examples from the poll are terrible moments for the industry.

When I clicked the thread I thought it was about in-game moments, so I'm going to post this anyway. It was playing Uno on PS3 or PS4 online with friends. One of them forgot to call Uno, had to draw cards, and in his next turn he kept getting cards he could not play, so he went from 1 tot about 30 or something in one turn. It was ridiculous and glorious.

But I was told Kiwifarms did it!

Oh, well.

But I was told Kiwifarms did it!

Oh, well.

Im sure they made their life hell, but its a medical condition caused by anouther medical condition which is linked to a swing in hormones, which they where getting pumped full of.

Unless Kiwifarms where mailing them the drugs, unsure how they could of caused it.

XBOX 'Insider' Jez Corden declaring that rumors of MS first-party exclusives coming to PlayStation were 'hard hopium' literal months before XBOX announced they'd be doing exactly that. That he still pretends to know anything about anything happening in this industry is just part of the ongoing hilarity/tragedy.

Yeah, I think this takes the cake.

Definitely Veilguard. Concord wasn't really funny because everyone, including PS fans, knew it was going to fail. Sony was quick to realize it, too, and pulled the game, refunding everyone.

With Veilguard you at least had people who supported the politics of the devs pushing hard against those who did not. Or against people who thought it looked bad in general. It was also funny to see those pushing the game, who probably had no intention of buying it, either, go through the steps of woke game support.

1. Months before launch when people are complaining about the woke garbage in it, "Who cares, you'll buy it anyway and it'll be a hit. Your chud/incels whining has no impact on the sales potential."
2. After the game launches and some BS sales metrics are reported, "See it's a hit despite your whining. Take that chuds/incels."
3. After more of the sales picture is revealed, "Ok, it's not huge, but it'll still make money."
4. After the whole picture is realized, it's one of two things. "It just wasn't a good game to begin with. It has nothing to do with the woke stuff." Or, "OK, it was a sales disappointment, but it deserved better, and it's all because of you bigoted chuds/incels."

Watching this cycle play out several times in the past few years is always hilarious.

It is still a souless cash grab trying to sell everything they can without maintaining any kind of coherence style. And the "But it is free!" is a bad excuse, nobody asked them to do so.

I hope they just port the MCC and let Infinite to just root, until the next flop with the UE comes along, lets see what they blame this time.

The sad thing about Concord is that we will probably never have an accurate insight on what the hell happened at Firewalk, the few tidbits we know paint a picture of a arrogant woke leadership, which shut down any criticism it got.

But no "Gaming Journalist" will want to expose that

Redfall launch

The main reason was that Arkane's fans wouldn't stop talking about how they would blindly buy anything the studio made.

Starfield not being on the list is amazing because it shows how people have forgotten it even exists.

People made threads about what they would eat, or whether they would sleep with their wives or not, just so they could spend more time playing the "once in a generation" game.

Microsoft gave early access to all the Xbox shills they could find, which made the initial scores higher than they ended up being.

Phil Spencer saying that even 10/10 games would not help Xbox was funny too

It has been fun seeing them try to push the woke/"modern audience" agenda over and over and it continuously failing- Concord and Dragon Age being the peaks.

(Though it is sad that big franchises are getting ruined)

Recent stuff is funny, I think Concord takes the cake for how fucked it was with all that money and no one saying shit.
Dragon Age makes me sad as hell, even though I got it for free it doesn't give me an incentive to even play it. I LOVED Origins and 2. :(

Also, seeing classic GAF gifs and threads takes me down on a nostalgia filled lane. Lol
