Ha ha - I remember some really ancient guy who was an OG furry from the early 90s, that like tried to run for his congressional district in a west coast state. He made no secret that he was "an animal cartoonist" and whoever was running against him put out fliers describing his place in the "furry culture". About how he was detached from reality and lived in a deviant society of beastiality based on disney cartoons or something.
Of course, in this particular case, the guy actually was batshit nuts. Far right homophobic republican gun nut with an arsenal in his house, and IIRC he was one of the people responsible for spawning the inter-furry attack groups that bitched and cried about the fandom back in the late 90s. He made some comics and shit like that panel up there for their hand-cranked fliers they gave out at cons.
Last I heard, years later he admitted that he just hated people and wanted to see the world burn.

In my experience, furry people who tend towards the right wing side tend to be a little... twitchy. Rather unhappy with how the culture is so encouraging of gays, bisexuality, trans. As I understand it, after speaking with a person from CA in the 90s, a lot of the furry people who were straight white republicans thought that the gays had come in and stolen their fandom.
Kind of surreal by today's standards with the subculture I suppose; just old wars, long fought, long lost.

That's pretty interesting - though that sounds like a common thing, people butting heads in the same [culture/counterculture] over other things thought to be a common quality to that group.
